Really it's kind of a combination of both interrelation and bad marketing. Personally, I only really consider Crisis on Infinite Earths and Infinite Crisis truly related (Final Crisis? well...that's only related to LSD). Identity Crisis is totally unrelated and was likely just titled as a "Crisis" to move issues. Crisis on Infinite Earths was so good that the designation of "Crisis" came to really mean something (at least, it used to) in the DCU. Zero Hour (subtitled Crisis in Time) tried to use the term to piggyback onto the train and sell some books. Identity Crisis was a good enough story (so long as you ignore giant continuity problems and heroes acting like douches), but wasn't related. Infinite Crisis was incredible and a worthwhile sequel. And Final Crisis was kind of pointless and hard to follow.
Sorry. Rant over. All I really meant to say was, yeah, some are related and some are just the product of gimmick marketing.

Just when the freakin DCU gets itself together. IT GOES RIGHT BACK INTO LUDICROUS SPEED! Seriously, that video does not even mention what's happening with Darkest Night, and how everything will once again be changed in the DCU! WHITE LANTERNS MAN! ONCE WE GET WHITE LANTERNS, EVERYTHING THAT CHANGED WILL BE CHANGED BACK, AND THE CYCLE WILL ONCE AGAIN REPEAT! Yeah, sorry, I lost it there, but these epic events will not stop any time soon. So it's a mute point, but boy does it bug me.

Linkara, you should seriously post a video or an article about your thoughts on Disney buying Marvel.

09.07.2009 - 06:01 | Doctor ImpossibleNice video although does it really count as "in five panels" if you use the same five panels twenty times? ;)
Slatefield: Strictly only Zero Hour, Infinite Crisis and Final Crisis count as real crises. That is, all of them involved blowing up reality and duct taping the pieces back together again. Everything else was just a big story (only blowing up boring things like planets, stars or something like that).

There were moments it got a little repetitive, but I especially loved "Secret Invasion?" "That's Marvel!"

All right, peeps, let darkdri-- ...that is, JimmydelaKopin  edjermacate yall a bit on DC's Crises.
The Crises started as special crossover events wherein DC takes the JLA to a parallel Earth where they have to solve some problem. Thus, each Crisis indicated where it took place: Crisis on Earth-Two, Crisis on Earth-Three, and so on.
For their 50th anniversary, DC decided to create a mega-crossover...which also had the effect of trimming down the number of parallel Earths and number of heroes and villains to manageable numbers. This was supposed to be the last Crisis ever and was called Crisis on Infinite Earths (though it is a misnomer, since there were a few Earths that weren't involved even back when the maxiseries was made--Earth-C and Earth-C-Minus, for examples).
That was supposed to be the end of it...but then Byrne rewrote Crisis's effect with his Superman stories...and from there it went crazy until, amazingly enough, the return of Superboy-alpha (who was retconned into being Superboy from Earth-Prime though he originally was not from Earth-Prime, as Earth-Prime was another parallel Earth not in CoIE).
Seriously, peeps, if you want the full story on which worlds were involved and which weren't, get a copy of Eclipse's CoIE Index.
Sad that Eclipse kept track of DC continuity better than DC did--or does, for that matter... :pinch:

And we all know that there is no "Final" end to the Crises; it'll happen again. And again. And agai...

09.07.2009 - 10:25 | ThatNinjaWithTheSandNow that Disney owns Marvel, are we gonna have Spiderman/Bambi crossovers? Cuz that'd be pretty freaking sweet.
Bambi: Humans killed my mother. :(
Spidey: Some guy killed my uncle. :(
(they cry in a corner)
