For comic: Watchmen, cause everybody is reading so you can talk about it with someone
but I like the 3 comics about the Green Lantern's life... I think it's new (2006)
and the "Crepúsculo Esmeralda", i think the original is "emerald twilight" or sth...
For manga: "Full Metal Alchimist" and "One Piece" are my favorites
I hate "Death Note" but a lot of people like it...
I hope i could help you ;)

I agree, the whole series was horribly written, and it turned out it was just a bad excuse for Blizzard to bring in Varian Wrynn. Although, I'm kinda glad they brought that jerk in, as now there's a reason for Horde and Alliance to be at war. I was getting tired of the whole "let's hold hands" thing that started waaay back in the An'Quiraj patch.

These two arent the worst comics youve reviewd here, but still dull but thats maybe thats cuz i dont play WoW.
BTW about Blue Beetle... Are any of those comics released in Europe?
I live in Holland and most comics like that dont come here. I mean I do own the basic stuff like Watchmen, but heres the thing: we have our own style of comics....less superhero-ish. Some comics do come here but most of them not. Part of my comicbook knowledge comes from your videos.
Oh and A+ for the Monty Python reference and awesome Schwarzenegger/Conan impression :D

05.04.2009 - 20:36 | traceaceThe comic was just following the game with the chick's outfit. Let me just say I'm glad I'm a magic user in the game. Long skirts ftw.
Great review. I love WoW's lore, for good and for bad, but I'm suddenly glad I don't need to wade through this book to get it.

I have not come across that much exposition since the last time Ric Olie and I went to a park. "Over there is a tree. It's a mighty tree. It was planted in 1927 by flappers, who were also whores. Over there is little Timmy Bidwell. His parents conceived him in Apsen 9 years ago. Over there..." "ENOUGH ALREADY RIC! ENOUGH!"
Nice going as always sir and remember: YOU IS A MAN!

I gotta say, this review, despite the fact that you weren't reviewing a REALLY bad comic this time, it was actually one of your better reviews. Possibly it was the impressions, the greatly timed Monty Python reference (which I just saw recently btw) or the voices.
And I know it's cliche'd but the music you played when the "cave elemental" struck STILL got my blood pumping, in the dramatic sense. Seriously, if you think about it, fire isn't an element either, it's a chemical reaction. They're not called 'reactionals' (and yes that was an Order of the Stick reference, and I felt I had to make it.)
Great review, and I'm glad I was bored tonight because I got to see it early!

05.04.2009 - 20:53 | DaniusKangNot a bad Arnold at all, Linkara. Maybe you and Spoony should have a Conan sound-a-like contest.

Linkara, great as always.
I think most of the narration was to give us WOW fanboys something to drool over (oo look, its Thunderbluff), but your right, the comic does look pretty boring.
Your Conan jokes will hold me over until NC's Red Sonja tomorrow..lol
Could you post what comics you plan on doing over the next few weeks...just curious.
Thanks for evrything :)

Somehow, I get the feeling the ony reason the put all the names of places in the comic just so people reading the comic could go "Hey, I've been there in the game! Wow, that is so awesome! I must go play the game now!"
That, or its just to prove to everyone that yes, its a WoW comic because it has WoW names in it. -_-

Uuugh... that was painful...
No not the review, it was much entertaining. These comics looks and sound more painful to read than the WoW manga.
Seriously, the way the story in WoW goes is perfectly reflected in these comics, its not that interesting and I personally would be more entertained if more than half of the character cast died.
The gun description part made me laugh so much, its just painful seeing characters talking for hours about the weapon they choose. Lastly... *facepalm* is there a light switch somewhere to close those damn flashlight eyes?
Anyway, enough of this rant. Excellent work Linkara, yet another clever and funny review.

My head just exploded! I always thought the element "earth" was just to generic, but I never thought of fire!
And Linkara, I know this comic is dull, but in fact, I feel just the same when I saw my brother playing it. In a strange sense, the comic's writer captured the essence of the game, if you read all the history that appears, and the dialogs as well. The on ly difference is, of course, that the reader aren't playing it! Maybe if it was an adventure book, it could work better...
Btw, great review, and well timed Star Trek insertions too!

05.04.2009 - 22:09 | DavideogamerFor just the good art and depiction of Azeroth, the comic seemed alright, but...thirty dollars?! For ten dollars less, you could buy a full volume of Sandman or the complete Watchmen collection! What a rip-off!
-
05.04.2009 - 22:22 | KanasheThe hell? A WoW comic? I mean I know there's a three book manga, but..What the hell?

The unfortunate thing is with Warcraft everything can be retconned cuz its open and mysterious. There is soooo much crap that has been just added in. Once it is in something "official" its part of the story.
The burning crusade explains alot of the orcs history. Yes the orcs are actually from Draenor and Dranei are actually from a place called Argus. And the Burning Legion Corrupted the orcs because they were hiding dranei on Draenor (geez that made my head hurt lol) and turned them into an army along with clones of Hitler to fight superman on azeroth....maybe not the hitler , superman part. lol. Oh and the Tardis name is actually an acronym for Time and Relative Diminsions in Space.. ;)

02.11.2012 - 22:42 | ObstreperousAt least cold, dark, and light are vaguely elementalish... kind of.
Magic the Gathering had even worse elementals, like Thorn, Fungus, and Ivy. These people do not know what "elemental" means. Aristotle would be very disappointed.

Hey, Awesome McBadassPowerfist, spontaneous Final Fantasying is a very serious condition, and nothing to joke about. On the other hand, I'm sure the writers knew the risks involved: if you have a brooding, amnesiac hero with a giant sword (giggity) and cliched friends, the chance of a Final Phantasy Star breaking out is increased by about tenfold.
Oh boy. There are SO many ways that can be fucked up by the writer...
EDIT: and it appears I was right, too. *facepalm*
