Happy 4 years.
Some have mention on blip Avengers Arena is Battle Royale rip off and not Hunger Games. From the image, to the bunch of teens on island to kill each other. Oh god that series is going to painful and all that people that marvel shill to will eat it up. I mean blood and guts and probably not care about characters.
Peter's parents story reminds me of the Barry allen bait and switch that went around the same time in Flash. Where you think barry was coming back it and ended up being reverse flash. To me stories like this at time made me happy. Peter gets parents back just to be a big ruse and that angered me. Now I am sort of glad they were ruse because I rather leave things alone. Yes I wish they left Barry Allen dead.
Looking back to Clone Saga and Spider-Man reminds screwed up world where we have a Scarlet Spider series. The other screwed up thing marvel pretty much promoting a new spidey series with a new spider-man who will get together with MJ again. Except spidey won't be peter. Stupid doesn't put right and I couldn't post my full reaction. Some think it will be idiot new side kick or Kaine/Scarlet Spider. If that is true I give 6 to 12 issues. Mostly because of sales. Just calling it now.
The comic story doesn't seem to bad in compared to later stories in clone saga. I know you said again about you rather had had Ben take over spidey and peter/mj happy ending. I didn't like that when tried in comics and it failed. It wasn't cause took so long for it happen it was just I never liked Ben as much Peter. To me and I liked spidey married even then and still now. I'm sorry but I even knew back then that was excuse to get ride of the marriage.

Which would maybe last longer but still wouldn't go over well with fans. By the way reaction is my trying to say my first reaction is really things I couldn't say here. A chance to really right things fans you and I only care so much because I love Spider-Man. I just don't like Marvel has they have done with him.

12:05 Just a thought, but it seems like Judas Traveler could actually make a GREAT Spider-Man villain, using exactly the reasoning you gave in your One More Day review. He could represent fear of the unknown, the unfeeling uncaring all-crushing dread of the future. Imagine that he weaves in and out of Spidey's life, bringing back every major mistake that Peter Parker made and presenting Spider-Man with easy solutions and opportunities to shirk responsibility, which of course he takes. Eventually, Peter figures out what's going on, and one by one accepts responsibility for his errors and fixes the disasters he caused. Better yet he fixes them the hard way, through hard work and introspection. As Peter resolves his life, the process untangles the comic's continuity and provides closure to all the big stories.

That is just friggin awesome!!!! This could mean that there IS a way to make One More Day non-canon in a very well done manner that isn't lazy or forced. I would welcome this story but only if it is done right.

10.22.2012 - 15:21 | KhaosKyuubiAwesome Review Linkara!! Love the new AT4W logo and the updated theme song. And how this comic sets up the end of this story arc.
BTW Are you excited for the Deadpool game? I sure as hell am!!
-Khaos
P.S. FIRST!!

10.22.2012 - 15:24 | MrThorbjoernHappy 4th! I really like the new opening details. And the Thing on your title card sitting with you made me laugh for quite some time.
-
Hopefully, at least. Thanks for sticking around. Your videos are better than a lot of TV shows these days. It's been a lot of fun.
-
DC has much stupider and senseless "event comics"...just look at how many you've reviewed!
Also the Ultimate Spider-Man is pretty damn good from I remember, also people in the "Ulitmates" series tend to stay dead when they die.
Being an above average Spider-Man fan since the early 2000's, I have never let the stupider stories like "One More Day" bother me. In fact I pretty much only read comics from before the mid-90's.
-
10.22.2012 - 21:27 | thorondragonthey at least keep in the formula of the heroes working together and not murdering each other. nor do they use a series to totally and entirely kill off a lot of characters instead either have them retired or acutally use them.
-
10.22.2012 - 15:28 | LighticeJust because I'm anal-retentive like that, I am compelled to point out that "psychotic" means a condition where a person is not in control of their own actions, and sadism is a symptom, not the direct cause of people who do horrible things. Neither has anything to do with "cause of evil". Bottom line: don't make philosophical questions throwaway lines in a humorous comic review.

No matter how much things change the more they stay the same. I still can't wait for what is in store for Christmas and next year. Next year hopefully we will see more of All Star Batman & Robin, Marville, Red Hood and the Outlaws and many other things that will drive you as mad as a March Hare. See you next week. Also forgot to mention one little thing, Kane is still alive and he's the new Scarlet Spider. Just wanted to put it on here later.

10.22.2012 - 16:54 | Malvolio21I have to say that I really admire your work. Seriously, being able to write these 40-minute reviews, all while working on Longbox of the Damned and updating the visuals in your theme song... I must say, you have a stronger work ethic than I could ever hope to possess.
(Though concerning the visuals during your theme where the singer says "This.. comic... sucks," I might've gone with a clip from the end of your "Mightily Murdered Power Ringers" review when you said "[This comic] sucks, sucks, SUCKS!!" But hey, that's just me.)

Happy four years, everybody! And what a great way to celebrate it, this was a great review!
Favorite moment (though many others were up there, including Phelous' cameo and the montage in the beginning): "I AM A MAN!" *punch* "What, what is this--" "And you wonder why I don't do that gag as much any more?!"
I love the new opening, especially since it has some of Linkara's best moments from TBF in it. The new logo is damn cool as well.
Here's to another year of laughs, madness, and badass-itude!

Gotta admit, that moment in the anniversary where Comicron One surges into view and unleashes lasery death on the bad guys was pretty freakin' awesome
(Not least of all because I should have seen it coming a mile away and didn't, so it was both a total surprise, and the complete opposite of a Deus Ex Machina, whatever the term for that is... Chekov's Gun or something, I think)

5:40 Technically, comic books always have been "commodities to be valued." If they could not be valued, then comic book stores would not know how much to charge for them. 21:30 I agree with you about Judas Traveler's experiment not making sense, just for different reasons. If he really is a legitimate psychologist, and this really is an experiment, then what hypothesis is it supposed to test? Who is the control group? After the experiment ends, how will he know if it succeeded or failed? Once you take basic scientific principles into account, this premise cannot work whether good and evil are objective or not. 30:05 Good point, but Peter Parker and Ben Riley could still have been a permanent team and done things like learn from each other and have one hold down the fort in New York while the other is off fighting cosmic threats in big cross-over event comics. 36:16 See, the comic explicitly says that they make a great team.
-
10.22.2012 - 17:36 | armagod679Like many others, I would like to start by congratulating you on four years of awesome. Love the new opening, etc.
About the comic: I think there could be an argument that Traveller wanted to study Spider-man's nobility in order to understand the nature of evil by comparing it to the nature of good. Perhaps he was examining bad as being the absence of good and... I'm giving this character way too much credit, aren't I?
-
10.22.2012 - 17:40 | thorondragoni have lsot faith in marvel with that revelation. i love your reviews, but sometimes thigns i did not know about, ala avengers arena, pops up......... these are the few times i regret being a fan of yours. not enough to turn me away, but can ruin a day.
it is a story that will heavily rely on plot convenience. considering, a, there is really nothing that can convince these people to kill each other, they being heroes who has faced death a thousand times despite their tender ages, which means there is really nothign that could convince them to fight each other; also some of these people could easily escape the island. not to mention we have fuckign x23. she could kill Everyone on the island. she is highly trained, a living weapon, and regenerate. the moment you introduce her into the fold, it becomes predictable. and if they actually kill her, not only will the rage of a thousand nerds will rise, but it shows how stupid thye are since she can't be killed to begin with. also, in the previews, hasmat has her suite breached. she should have blown up, but no, they forget it.
-
10.22.2012 - 23:58 | CafeterialocaUm...Hazmat would not have blown up if her suit is punctured. That just means her radiation can affect the people around her. Granted, she can blow up, as she has done during Fear Itself, but I don't doubt that this writer will kill her off for the sole reason of making Mettle fueled by Rage. Isn't it great that we can already detect a fridging before a book has even began?
-
10.23.2012 - 09:31 | thorondragoni hope at least. still she won't be able to stay around anyone if she survives. hopeless sounds like a sicko murderer in his q/a of the series though.
maybe not blow up, but her suite would have broken away and eradiated the entire area, and not only that but destroy whaterver technology arcade would be using utterly because of the raw amounts of energy exiting her body. thus eliminating his ability to fuck with everyone and perhaps, if we are lucky, have the radiation reach him.
when i can figure out how to stop the villain by just letting oneo f the heroes go crazy with their energy powers to utterly disable his technology. and, no, there is not way he could use devicnes that are both complex and immune to raw amounts of nuclear radiation at the same time, even in comic books.
