Oh man. The video was as fascinating as usual, but I have to say, for some reason the "dedication" to Angelo at the end was probably the funniest thing I've seen all week. I'm not saying that says a lot for me, I'm just mentioning it cause it was awesome.
Who IS Angelo anyway? I mean, I could Wikipedia it, and I probably will, I just felt like asking.
-
04.20.2010 - 15:37 | The_HyphenatorAngelo is Skin; he's one of the mutants from Generation X (a sort of New Mutants reboot that ran in the mid 90's, about a young X-team led and taught by Banshee and Emma Frost). His body is covered by malleable skin that he can manipulate at will.
Chamber, Husk and Jubilee were also part of that team, in case you were curious about why they're involved in this storyline.

12.14.2009 - 19:55 | Chol YerlowAgreed. I had heard Linkara was a believer but didn't think it was for real.
Awesome bit there, Linkara. Especially putting the idea of universalism in it's place.

wow you really dont like the x-men, im a huge x-men fan and you just tore on characters and even thou that book was only ok you go off on some of the dialog when its clearly a decent respone that sounds real and on things like the cursifiction and the hands not being able to support the body hey there was a guy that can shoot optic blasts ITS A COMIC BOOK. not saying the book was great but it was still interesting
but then you might not be an x-men fan and see the characters the way they are protreyed, all well
still was pretty funny im definitely going to see part 2

02.24.2010 - 12:14 | NexevHe reviews comic books, the fact that it's a comic is the whole point.

01.16.2009 - 15:45 | SadMammalOh man, is this the arc that culminated in the reveal that Nightcrawler was an embodiment of the anti-christ or some such cockery?

You mean where it's revealed that he's a demonspawn? Oh, no.
There is antichrist plans in the making, though. XD

I like the X-Men fine. And I must respectfully disagree - a lot of the dialogue sounds stilted and forced, and the X-Men themselves aren't portrayed as all that likeable or intruiging. But that's not the fault of the characters, but of the person who wrote them. And like I said, Chuck Austen has done some good stuff, but this is certainly not his finest work.

Wow. The narration actually says "And he has these hundred inch claws." These? He writes how he talks? And Nightcrawler talks in such a casual, high-school manner? Not to mention that after the flaws regarding religious philosophy and bible quotes you pointed out, you'd think that Nightcrawler would be the one X-Man to NOT screw that up.
Well done, Linkara!
My apologies for the double post, but one more thing (and here comes my own continuity alert!): it greatly bothers me that the X-Men have matching uniforms. The entire point of the X-Men is that they are diverse, and their costumes were designed to reflect that.
Ditto there. It's why I always loved Jim Lee's costume designs - unique for each character.

07.25.2009 - 19:22 | Dr. FibonacciI am a Christian. I respect the beliefs of others unless they believe in something harmful, i.e. killing because some guy told you that the man upstairs says so. But I respect the beliefs of others. I do not respect the belief that my faith or the faith of another is a disease that should be wiped out. How do you propose to accomplish such a task anyway? The fact is, you call religion and faith harmful, yet you are the one seething with hate. If you don't agree with my beliefs, that is fine. But to propose what is tantamount to ethnic cleansing because you find religion uncomfortable is a bit much. I know atheists, smart atheists with good arguments and intelligent minds. You are not one of them. You are what they call a "sophomore skeptic." You took a class, or read a book and without looking at the big picture you thought you had everything figured out. It's not that simple.
-
02.24.2010 - 12:21 | NexevDo not blame Heaven for the sins of mortals.
Some crimes were committed for what they thought was truth.
Most...most weren't looking for guidence in the book.
What they were looking for is an excuse.

As a freethinker (a sort of atheist, for those who don't know) I have to take great exception to this statement as well. It shows utter ignorance to what atheism truly is. Yes, atheism is about rejecting the supernatural, but more importantly it is about using reason, logic and commonsense as your tools to understand the universe. The opinions you have expressed here stand totally against these values.
These sort of hateful views are, in fact, another form of extremism, every bit as contemptible as those held by religious extremists. The calling of religion a disease, to me, draws many disturbing parallels to people like the Nazis, who considered, for example, Judaism to be a disease. What you propose would be to commit human rights atrocities against BILLIONS of people in order to get at maybe a few million nut-cases.
Atheists and other non-beleivers DON'T force their views on others, they seek to educate others so they have the tools to make their own informed decisions. The view you seem to be coming from seems to be less that of an atheist and more that of a church-hater.
I encourage you to learn more about different schools of non-belief such as Agnosticism, Freethought and Humanism. In particular you should learn about secular ethics, so hopefully you can see how much of an idiot you are being.
-
08.11.2011 - 00:43 | Lucia32A disease, eh?
Really? Blind faith and stupidity? Really now?
Well then, maybe you'd care to explain why the vast majority of the world's scientists (like your truly) and academics are religious or hold to a belief in a higher power? Maybe you'd care to explain why David Sloan Wilson (an avowed Atheist) in his book "Darwin's Cathedral", spoke of religion in general as being beneficial to society and it's benefits to individuals?
Sorry, Mi-Mi but the only blind faith and stupidity I see here, comes from your arrogance and prejudice. Your same accusation and claims have been mirrored by maniacs who murdered countless religious people (Mao, Castro, Pol Pot, Stalin, Herbert, etc). You have insulted the legacy of Hume, of Voltaire, and modern atheistic thinkers like Baggini.
YOU are an extremist. YOU are the one with the diseased idea. YOU are no different from any other ideological extremist. You are as much a disgrace to every reasonable atheist and agnostic as religious extremists are a disgrace to reasonable religious people.
Here are some books to give you perspective:
"Darwin's Cathedral" By David Sloan Wilson
"God's Philosophers" By James Hannam
Read, learn, and THINK before you spout such hatred.
Dude, Linkara, I like your videos, but this one...I found myself agreeing with the comic. Religion IS a disease. A disease of blind faith and stupidity. Getting rid of it completely is a GREAT idea.
The book is probably quite bad, but its message about religion is not a flaw.
Well, on behalf of the millions of people who draw strength, hope, and have never harmed another living creature in the name of their faith, thanks. :D
You're of course entitled to your opinion, as much as I think it's wrong. ^^

Having watched a lot of your vids I really like your narration. It's overly fast (I guess it's the point to make it such), wise and sounds cool ^^. From the former new guys - you stand out. Keep up the good work, man ;).
P.S. You could put in the "I am a MAN!!!" quote in your future reviews XD, it could match with anything.
