Due to the length of this video (38 minutes) I'm offering an alternative for those with a slower connection, splitting the episode in two. First Part here: http://blip.tv/file/4676742 Second Part here: http://blip.tv/file/4677201

01.24.2011 - 21:57 | toth88Killing off Lian Harper just makes me sick. It's one of the most despicable things I've ever seen in comics.

01.25.2011 - 15:18 | sweetheart14879Ur fist prediction I think is right but the thing about "or maybe the champion always looks like him." is wrong cause from another universe Linkara is DR INSANO. Ur Second prediction I did not think of and could be this universe's DR INSANO'S SON cause in a spoony ep DR INSANO created a son which was a pick squishy ball with cute big eyes and little things coming out of it but I think u already know about what ever that thing is.

Just make it a creepy wave of shadow. It doesn't have to neccisarily be a physical being. Like the Vashta Narada, only instead of a microscopic swarm it's pure shadow and darkness that consumes everything it touches. Think strange matter (a hypothetical material made up of quarks, which are the building blocks of reality, which if stabalized could convert every atom it comes in contact with into more strange matter until there is nothing left but strange matter.)

01.24.2011 - 22:46 | xxfiredudexxOut of all the two parters and three parters Linkara has done, this one blew them all away. Out of curiosity, were you Lord Vice at the beginning and end of the video because I often get the impression you play every character with the obvious exceptions. Either way I salute your voice, your comic reviews and your morals.

01.24.2011 - 22:03 | Spindash54In a word, DAMN. I've been following the story up to this point and never would have thought to see your fight scene turn in this direction. To see our champion beaten, bloodied, and defeated was a dramatic turn of events.
I honestly don't know what will happen next week, or how the show will open for that matter. I'm excited!
P.S. Is that a Sith Stalker lightsaber I spy in the fight? ;)

Great review..horrible comic. I can't think of a time where I've ever condoned the killing off of a child character in such an unneeded, unfeeling fashion. Hell, it didn't even have a point as Roy didn't make a conscious appearance afterward.
Oh, and I know this is random, but where did you get those framed pics of Princess Peach & Rosalina that are on your wall during the last part of the Vyse fight? The pictures look lovely and I would love to have copies for my collection.

I know when new writers take over a book, they will make changes. Usually they change the costumes, add new characters and maybe change the curtains in the war room. But then there are those "special writers" who redecorate with chainsaws and flamethrowers.
How many times have they done this?
The "X-Men as a school" story ends with not only all these great characters being stripped of their powers, but as the bus leaves the school, they blow it up an kill all the characters!!
When they introduced Batwoman, they killed off Spoiler and ruined Batgirl. Did they think the character couldn't stand the competition?
When an anti-religion writer takes over the X-Men, he make the most devout X-Man, Nightcrawler the actual son of a demon. (And then they put that character in the next movie??)
All the time and money people invested in these characters and as you pointed it out, you can't go back and read them without knowing how it will end.
How many people do they drive away from comics bu doing this? The very people they want as readers. People who will buy every crossover and special with their favorite characters.
And I have to wonder why did they target Speedy? They tear off his arm, kill his daughter, send him back into drug addiction and make Green Arrow a murderer, Why? What could possibly be the payoff in this story?

0:44- That line kinda reminds me of the way General Grievous in “Star Wars Episode III” said it when he’s about to fight Obi-Wan for the last time. …I am such a nerd.
In speaking of names Red Arrow ran through, his original one was Speedy. BTW, he’s NOT the reason I call myself SpeedyEric. I got the Speedy part from friends after I got my first speeding ticket during Senior year in high school.
Dear lord, this comic is more of a mess than everything in my trash can, and it’s stupider than ANYTHING that can be found in the Twilight Saga.
I really enjoyed Prometheus in the JLA comics where he originated from, but I can’t believe they were able to butt screw him in this waste of paper. I feel sorry for all the trees that were cut down and were turned into this vomit. Right now, I’m having a “Garbage Pail Kids Movie” related migraine, but thankfully, I have a bottle of Pepsi by my side.
Lewis, now I understand why you hate “Cry For Justice” more than “Amazons Attack” and “Countdown to Final Crisis.”
23:59- I full-heartedly agree. The death of Jason Todd, this moment is NOT. This is just despicable. I just hope that when DC sees your review of this alternate form of toilet paper, they will immediately fire James Robinson for giving the comic book reading public the “Skyline” of comic mini-series.
Man, I just love how bad-ass Vyce is, and I love how he looks. It’s like a cross with Darth Vader, Lord Zedd, the Borg, and Sauron. …Like I said, I’m such a nerd.
-
01.25.2011 - 22:20 | LyricalCowI was thinking Zedd and Vader too! Except his costume is way more awesome than most of the stuff Saban puts out.

Gonna say right off, the hatred in your voice is just.... well, best way to describe it is that it put a chill down my spine. There's being wronged, there's betrayal, and then there's that which causes a man to use that tone, with nothing else to describe it but pure disdain. Truly something of horror.
On a more positive note, I love Vyce's costume. Hell, I love Vyce. Every bit of him has this badass Lord Zedd vibe, and I love it!
Gonna call it right now, he's an AU Linkara gone evil.
-
01.24.2011 - 23:20 | e33lafI agree 100%. The pure uncut hatred and rage in Linkara's voice when talking about that little girl's death was genuinely chilling to witness, but in my opinion perfectly justified.
On a much, much lighter note, I sure seeing a half shirtless Linkara(albeit dressed as Pyramid Head)ought make some people very happy ;)

....ohhh yeah.
Also kind of AWESOME to see. It's that more than the fight with Vyce that makes him seem like a real-life superhero of a sort to me. (Especially after he sang to my daughter at MAGFest. Linkara makes being a champion of toddlers badass. Somehow.)

Yeah, that was awesome of you to do that. I dunno if you could hear her but she did actually say "Hi Linkara!" at one point. She's a little flirt.
One of these days we're going to get a video of her dancing to your themesong. She was sort of overwhelmed by all the OMG SO MANY PEOPLE there but her level of wigging out whenever we put your show on is rivaled only by her love for Wow Wow Wubbzy. XD

these comics inspire me
NOT in a way that would make me want to make something just like it (especially with random child death) but to create something even better
Why?
Because I have the capability
unlike those who:
can't understand the concept of justice
can't give previously established character development made by other writers justice
can't give superhero/villain knowledge justice
can't give their own previous work justice
can't understand that revenge isn't justice
& call upon the hate of the readers who cry for justice
in short here's a slightly messy message to the entire cry/gay(see 1st part) for justice series

Those who don't know the difference between justice and revenge should really watch, and pay attention to, "Batman Begins." Rachel Dawes tells Bruce the difference in the beginning of the film, and at the end, he tells her that she was right.
James Robinson, someone should brand the word "fail" on your forehead.

I can't believe the sheer stupidity in this mini series. I completely understand why you would hate this so much.
As for the fight with Vyce; holy crap! I was not expecting Vyce to have this kind of back story. I'm still a little stunned and I watched this episodes hours ago on blip. I cannot wait to find out what happens next.

Man, I've seen Linkara be upset, but it was usually comedic. The death of the little girl was really low, I could tell it bothered him. I agree that if you are going to kill someone don't do it for the sake of doing it. It should have a reason of being, something that affects the story.
Anyways, great review! I find it funny how you sent out Pyramid Head as a comedic touch in a serious battle. However, what I enjoyed the most was Vyce's motivation. His motivations are very unique, and hasn't been done before if I am not mistaken.
Would you say he is sorta like an anti-hero, where he is trying to save worlds by conquering them?

01.24.2011 - 23:37 | norman728Great review only one nitpick.
It is explained in a Wonder Woman Secret Origin that an Arrow can Pierce her skin so can Bullets which is why she deflects them.( she uses SCIENCE as an explanation (sort of like lying on a bed of nails) Donna Being a Clone(sister) that would be the same for her. (is that still true?) so the arrow to the leg would go in if not blocked. The KO's Shock Maybe? same with Supergirl's Bullet wound.

Well, I enjoy the misery that you had to put up with, the nice little rant about killing off a secondary character that just so happens to be a little girl, and that epic boss battle. Sheesh, for a guy that did a good series before this, he definitely doesn't know his own character. ... Seriously, the logic behind this is enough to smack the writers with a redwood battering ram!
And I want to apply my own thoughts about the death of Lian. I strongly believe that killing a person is wrong, along with many other acts of crime. But killing a child is just above all other crimes because you are killing an innocent child who has done no wrong and has yet to experience life to its fullest and you have taken someone's child away from them. That should be enough to put you on a life sentence!
I'm sorry about that. It's just my little gripe about the idea of killing off someone who has little to no importance to the story. It's just like your comment back in Action Comic #593 about how Supes and Big Barda were basically raping each other all to get that into a story is NOT a good plot point (and it isn't). I strongly disagree with the thought of this (along with the others who watched this review), so I really hope people can learn from this that killing children is wrong and you are definitely are going to be winding up in a deep part of Hell for doing so!
And I did like how that fight between you and Vyce went. Even though it was a curb stomp battle, you did your best to prevent him from... what now? I can get him trying to do what he is doing in his conquest, but to think that there is something EVEN STRONGER than him... what's next after that? A GOD?! And when he spoke of the entity... I was thinking of the Anti-Spiral from the anime Gurren Lagann, but I know you have something different in mind.
Still, I enjoy the review and we are glad that you survive this encounter. At least we'll never get to hear from this comic again... and I'll take your offer up on looking at Animal Man. I could use some new material to read.

Wait, if Lord Vice is here to SAVE there Earth, why not just team up with him to beat "The Entity"?
BTW, The Entity? Is that anything like "Ingestor", aka Unicron? The MO sounds very similar. Go to a universe, destroy(or in Unicrons case devour) it and then move onto the next one. Though Unicron usually has his heralds sent out ahead of him to destabilized the inhabitants so that any possible resistance is prevented. Which is exactly what Lord Vice seems to be doing by killing each universes "champion". Doh!

01.26.2011 - 15:00 | KPShadowMore like an Anti-Villain.
An Anti-Hero is one who does heroic deeds for more morally questionable reasons.
An Anti-Villain is a character who does things that are considered evil for more noble reasons. Like conquering multiple universes to protect them from a cosmic horror.

That would have been nice to have been in the episode proper. It seemed odd to me that Linkara didn't try to negotiate at all after hearing that Vyce was a good guy. You could have established that Vyce thought you were too weak to help him.
In fact, this is exactly what I came on to comment about. It seemed so odd that, after Vyce's exposition, Linkara just kept on fighting him without at least trying to appeal the newly revealed "good" side of him.
-
01.25.2011 - 05:48 | Ultimalice
Well if he thinks he's the only one capable of defeating the Entity, why is he wasting his time conquering other universes instead of going after the Entity himself directly? He seems heavily armed and trained in Martial Arts to do so.
You don't see Commander Shepherd (Mass Effect) conquering the galaxy when the Citadel Council refused to listen to his/her warnings of the Reapers.

01.25.2011 - 20:55 | mknoteI think it'd still be a good idea to have a team up, perhaps in a moment of desperation in which there is no other choice. It'd be nice to see a villain who isn't evil, but is instead just trying to do the right thing, which is what I see Vyce as. You can go a lot of interesting ways here, and I hope you don't choose the obvious, defeat the villain of the day route you have before on the show.
