01.23.2011 - 01:20 | kingrat2314Great live review. I just wish the audience weren't trying (and failing) to be funny.

I agree. In all of the magfest videos I saw the peanut gallery got pretty annoying. I've been to enough cons to know that that's just what happens when you get a bunch of like-minded nerds together, though, but when your watching it online and NOT in the actual room, it just seems annoying and childish.
I donno how Linkara felt about it while he was doing his show, he handled it really well, though. Just ignoring the dumb comments, and playing off of one or two good ones. Everyone singing along to the theme was fun, though.

Of course it gets unpredictable when you attempt to entertain crowds in person. That's kind of the point, to crack open the performer's protective shell and allow for the audience rowdiness to just flood in uncontrollably. It's a really pure and immediate kind of feedback, and for someone who wants to grow as a performer there is no substitute.

the spy in the beginning looked like the phantom got a sex change and stole cyclopes's glasses.
it's weird, i remember when Iron Liz first appeared in your reviews, a few didnt like her. Now more people seem to have accepted her.

01.23.2011 - 02:42 | nuetrolWait, that comic was supposed to be a lead in for Berserk? Uhh, there's a transcript (sort of) of the manual's story right here, and no mention at all of the "Atari Force":

(remove the spaces, of course)
Knowing Atari, they probably changed their minds. Several times.

Atari Force is one of the few Dc titles I've collected and kept all these years. I love the rich character development, the gorgeous artwork, the intricate plots...
...and yet, Linkara can still make me laugh at the pecadilloes of the comic. Didn't think it was possible!
Linkara: not just a man, he is the man!

01.23.2011 - 04:10 | TBTabbyAtari Force was certainly better than the other Atari comic, "Adventures of Atari." It ran in the pages of a short-lived magazine called Atarian, and you can find it online at AtariAge.com. It was about a superhero named Atari (real imaginative, guys) who protected Atari from the evil forces of Ninja-Endo, an insulting Asian caricature the likes of which have not been seen since WWII ended. I'd recommend it for a review, but it's too short to make for a proper episode. Too bad, because it makes Howard & Nester look like Mouse Guard by comparison.
As for Atari Force...it looks like the ending encourages us to bridge the gap between issues by playing Berserk. So I guess the second issue probably begins with the thief in a maze fleeing robots and a giant smiley face.
...HOLY CARP, ATARI INVENTED MACHINIMA!

01.23.2011 - 06:02 | FinGreat show, I wish I could have attended. The audience was annoying at times, but surprisingly not that bad...at least not in comparison to some other live performances I've gone to.
It's a blessing- I mean, it's a shame you couldn't find Malibu's Street Fighter series, though. Perhaps it'll make for a good future episode if you ever do get your hands on it.
