Already watched this on blip.tv earlier, great review.
Never saw the movie nor did I see the MST3K or Cinematic Titanic riffing of it, I did see the Cinemassacre review of the movie though, great review.
Hard to believe there'd be a comic based on that.

The idea I got from the movie is that the old man was around before the children were given teaching boxes. But, come to think of it, I like the idea of him being the last member of a religion that eschewed Martian technology--a Martian Luddite, if you will.

We all have strange Christmas Traditions. Mine is writing a Christmas Crack Fic. I won't go into details but they tend to be really weird.

Ahh. Christmas traditions are something I've missed ever since I went off to college. Most of them involve a television, and although I do have one, I have no cable. "A Charlie Brown Christmas", "Rudolph" and the like. Watching them year after year, next to a fire, with homemade popcorn, and with the entire family around was something I miss.
Thankfully, I have gone back home for Christmas lase year and will this year. This will allow me to not miss the main tradition; watch the 24-hour "A Christmas Story" marathon.
Gotta love the two feet of snow outside as well.

lol I just watched MST3K of this for the first time yesterday. So glad I had a point of reference for this.
I like to call it "Santa Opens Diplomatic Relations with the Martians" or "Santa Claus Annoys the Heck Out of the Martians with Hasbro Product Placement"

Aw, they left out the best line of the film: "The people of Earth do not realize that Santa Claus has been kidnapped by Martians."
Okay, granted, this comic was written before Tom Servo helped make that line famous...

Great review as always Linkara. Santa Claus Conquers the Martians is one of the few MST3K episodes I've seen. I can't believe they made a comic out of this movie.
I so wasn't expecting you to use a clip from Spoony's SWAT 4 LP. I may have to go watch some of that now.

I think I would pay to see/read a story where Santa becomes all bad ass and tries to conquer some Martians for real. And he could have a giant gun, just like Superman: At Earth's End.
Though it'd only work if it didn't take itself seriously.

They could have a Santa for every planet like on Sailor Moon. "Santa Venus, Santa Mars, Santa Mercury, Santa Jupiter..." Or even better yet, have a Santa Claus Corps like the Green Lanterns.
