11.16.2010 - 19:12 | WerewolfRiverGreat video Linkara! Hey I have a request, can you review the 16-page comic book that came with the trendmasters Godzilla action figures?
-
11.16.2010 - 19:27 | WerewolfRiver...or mabey you could do RoboCop vs. the Terminator, if you think that is a bad comic that is.

11.15.2010 - 22:01 | MarieNomadThat came from 'Batman Beyond'. It's the episode featuring Old Bruce Wayne celebrating a birthday. It's an awesome episode.

^^^That's from Batman Beyond. I wish Linkara had shown the rest of the scene, which reveals that it was a play that Terry had taken Old Bruce to for his birthday. Bruce's reaction is priceless too. You get the sense that he spent his entire life trying so hard to be taken seriously as a man scaring bad guys by dressing up like a bat; unfortunately, it doesn't take much to point out the inherent sillyness of it all. I almost feel sorry for the guy, really. It's like you go on this decades long crusade against evil establishing yourself as the biggest badass to ever stalk the night, and all it takes is one hobo name Crazy Steve to ruin your reputation for years.

11.15.2010 - 21:48 | Jackass Mask
A very subdued opening for what would become one of the most widely known comic book heroes of our time.
Could you imagine if they never changed from that original red tights design? It just seems to silly and would likely not have made it. We would never have gotten to see a movie that featured a Bat-Credit Card.
Of course, a completely silly looking costume worked out okay for the original Green Lantern.
-
I mean, check out daredevil. He's a different take on the concept and he's pretty cool sometimes.
I think the bigger problem with the original concept was the weak domino mask. So many people had and it wouldn't have been unique, just bland.

11.15.2010 - 22:00 | MarieNomadThis is a fun review. Hee hee... I loved how that Linkara kept on saying 'I'm Batman'. I couldn't help but wonder if that guy was the real Joker since he fell in acid. Not sure.

It's like how I can't tell if Doug re-uses old footage of his little head-spin when he introduces his NC episodes.
It's always weird to me when we see the first appearances of these famous characters coming in such oddly numbered issues. Who would've thought that a #27 would turn into something so grand?
Anyway, nice episode, as usual.
PS: Carbon monoxide is invisible.
I know. I'm pedantic.

Great video! Although using the Batman voice was a little annoying near the end, but still enjoyable.
BTW, there was actually going to be a Batman musical. Jim Steinman (composer and writer for a majority Meatloaf's albums, as well as a great artist himself) was writing a musical for Batman at one point. In fact, one of the songs he wrote for it, Seize the Night, can be heard in Meatloaf's Bat Out of Hell III: The Monster is Loose. Just thought of putting that out there.

Though right now this song is used in "Dance of the Vampires" or at least the German version, since the broadway production was just... awful!
Anyway, if there ever will be a Batman musical, I'm pretty sure Steinman is the right man for the job. Plus he already has experience with songs for bat-like creatures. ;)

I first heard of Bob Kane from the openning credits of the Tim Burton films and "Mask of the Phantasm." Weird, huh?
3:50- Just like the first film, but we see the killing of his parents in the flashback.
6:17- You got that right, dude. Just look how I'm sporting my hat in my profile photo. B)
7:29- In speaking of gloves, "Bat-Man" wasn't wearing any in the next issue. ...Uh, fingerprints?
9:50- YAY, THE JOKE RETURNS! =D
13:27- As I stated in my comment from last week's episode, I have this book.
15:14- Suck of THAT, Insano and Linksano.
I love the Origin of Batman, especially in "Batman Begins."

11.16.2010 - 15:12 | SoujiSetaI will definitely give you prostitute Catwoman, but I liked that The Joker wasn't included. It's Batmans beginning, his first time out and struggling with the consequences, tossing in The Joker would have been a bad idea and just felt forced for the sake of having him appear.
I realize you mean The Jokers origin, but I think that kind of thing should be saved for a Batman that's already been fighting for a year or so.
