I think the test tube probably represents a crack vial. Mind you it's pretty dumb with the overly huge scale of thing, crack vials are usually much smaller then that.

I'd just like to say that the stereotype is in fact true, every country has a favourite sport, ours is hockey. And up here, the drinkers give the Irish a run for their money. Hey, we're our own country, plus up here we believe in all the American stereotypes as well :P

As a Canadian, I was very proud of you during this review. You didn't stoop to any cheap Canadian stereotype jokes, which must have been tough. I was expecting at least ONE Canada joke, but there wasn't a single one. Then the credits started, I saw Servo in the Mountie outfit, and started laughing my ass off because I actually knew this skit, and knew what was coming. It was a great work around, and as a Canadian who is extremely tired of our stereotypes, I now have a lot of respect for you. Great work Linkara!

Thank you for creating the PSA Hell segment, Linkara. I hate PSAs with a passion! (Though I admit this didn't seem to bad.)
By the way, I heard about the tornadoes in Minnesota. I don't know if it was near your home or not, but I hope you and your loved ones are safe.

Damn your beautiful hide Linkara, you had to put this up right when I was intending to go to bed...
PSA Hell?...sounds like the 10th Circle...
YAY! The PROPER version of "You Spin Me Round" :)
Who's this Melendez guy? And what's Alpha Flight?
Btw, thanks for the warning about 8-bit, but it still wasn't enough.

Hey Lewis, Let me ask you something.
Not to start any proxy war between any political advocates here
But...who do you think would win in a fight?
Guardian or Captain America?

I am having a hard time fathoming that we actually do have comic super heroes situated in Canada. I never really read many growing up seeing as how I was more into solid novels at the time. But it's not like I can't really believe that we have them up here, just that actual heroes based in Canada surprised me a little bit.
I regret not reading as many comics as I could have when I was younger. I'm 16 right now and I'm hoping that's not too late to start. I DID watch a lot of comic-based movies growing up though, I just couldn't judge them on being good or bad because I had no idea how much they strayed away from their source material. Mostly I judged how good they were by the action sequences :P

08.09.2010 - 22:15 | Pye Like EyeLiked this review much more than the last two weeks, which, for some reason, kinda fell flat with me. Anyway, good review.
I know you've already done multiple PSA comics, and that you've already introduced PSA Hell, but I would love to see more of these comics, with Aesops that, as far as I've seen from your reviews, amount to nothing more than '[Insert thing here] is bad, don't do it', with no further explanation or depth.
And is it just me, or is Spiderman a popular character for PSA comics?

:grr:  Who do you think invented the concept of the UN Peacekeeping Corpus and runs the majority of peace keeping missions? Does the Suez Canal Crisis or the name Lester B. Pearson, winner of the Nobel Prize for Peace ring a bell? Canada has made some MAJOR contributions to the world, both in the past and present, we just like to keep modest.

I'm pretty sure this is the fourth time I've seen that advertisment for Mickey, so, in all truth, I'm rather surprised that you hadn't seen it before. And if you think once is enough ...
you're right, but don't even talk about FOUR :scared:
Seriously though, another funny review to add to your collection of funny reviews Lewis. I laughed so hard at the Sweettarts bit. XD
Also, I didn't know that Canada had no superheros. -_-
You honestly think a supervillian would be slightly more informed before moving a base of operations so far away.

...who the hell would be motivated to vote for Mickey after that advertisement? I don't care how good of a reviewer he is, that ad showed very, very poor taste. It didn't show wit, or charm, or humor... just sheer, undiluted creepiness. If anything, it would drive people away! I'm bi, and I still feel violated from watching that! Just... what the hell?!

I would vote for 8-Bit Mickey to be a game tester. Y'know, if I wanted him to be a game tester. Everything I've heard about the job is that it's terrible. Play a small part of a game over and over until you're sick of it, and then continue playing it. Then, when you're off work, have a hard time NOT being in "job mode".
Just doesn't seem like the job for somebody that wants to continue enjoying video games.
Oh yeah, the review. Laughed very hard a lot of the time.

I'm a new member, and this is my first post and I have to say...
Do they really think kid's will fall for this crap? Really? I mean it's really bad...
When I was a kid I never paid attention to drug PSAs... only PSAs involving what to do in a fire! If someone's injured and stuff like that... but really?
I agree with the Mr. Mackey line... It needed to be there...

There are a series of these comics where he goes to all kinds of different Canadian cities. There's one really bizarre one where he goes to Alberta and teams up with a little girl in a wheelchair that converts into a turbine-powered jet that she uses to fight crime. No real explanation about where she gets it.
-
08.09.2010 - 22:34 | pokeplayer984Ugh! The title of the comic alone makes me shake my head in shame. This one deserved to get burned. -_-
Anyways, great review there, Linkara. Keep it up! =)
Just one question, when will you have HOPR: Time Force finished? I really can't wait for it. =)

10.16.2010 - 13:24 | Kryss LaBrynMy uncle once used a conference in Toronto as an excuse to stop in and visit us in northwestern BC, you know, while he was "in the area."
Mind you, he was coming from Brazil, so I think distance is a factor.
That, or the writers just had no idea that Fredericton and Winnipeg aren't within an hour or so of each other. XD They certainly don't seem to have clued in that there might be more than one mall in Winnipeg. I mean, really, why would a city with more than half a million people need more than one mall?
Hey, Lewis, is that Electro's logo in the upper left corner of the invoice? Not really familiar with him but I figure the "E" with the lightning bolt clued Spidey in.
What a lame PSA. So far as I can tell, the message is "Drugs are a legitimate choice, so long as your informed about the truth of what they do. And what do they do? Well, beer gets served in bars, and pills get smuggled into the country in hockey pucks by supervillains. And now you know."
Morons.
PSA comics suck! I once read a PSA comic called Catharsis! It was about fighting AIDS with willpower and inner strength! Yeah...stupid!
By the way, the Geordi La Forge from the future was awesome. Because that was exactly what I thought when I fist saw him too!
Oh, and that advertisement for 8-Bit Mickey was very creepy! I've now seen more of him than I ever wanted to see. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to throw up about something else.
