@KingGramJohnson: I don't know much about early Image beyond The Maxx, which I still believe is fantastic. Image publishes Invincible, The Walking Dead, and quite a few pretty damn good books these days. Check out some of their recent stuff, don't get turned away by the horror stories of their earlier junk.

08.03.2010 - 14:52 | Remake_TrapThere are good image comics and bad image comics now... They're all creator owned but there's a bit more quality control. They no longer have the attitude that artists can control everything else and don't need editors.

So if I were to ever cosplay these characters, I would be a guy wearing an animal costume who is also wearing cyber armor.
CYBER FURRIES UNITE! (Only took till the second comment. Hee hee!)
Also, like the fact that you did a double whammy here. As you said, some of the comics you have had lined up were to boring to be funny enough for a full episode. So this is a good compromise. By the way, is there an issue where we see the dolphin and shark face off? That would be an epic fight in it's own right.

You don't have to apologize Kgent. I'm sure we were all thinking along similar lines, although that bee picture is pretty awesome. =)
Nice review Linkara. I always wondered if you would find something you would consider more awesome than Neutro riding a whale, and I'm glad to see that you have. Seriously though, very funny stuff. Always nice to see another review from you.

Brute Force... where do I begin.
As Linkara recommended, I'm really tempted to track down a copy, just because it's so damn stupid.
I never hate the use of Nightwish in public. And I know the use of "Ghost Love Score" is a Meme, but I can't help but feel that I wish some other of their songs would be used on occasion, give them a bit more exposure. The only appearance of a different Nightwish track (Wish I Had An Angel) on this site is in reference to Uwe Boll... which scares me to no end. Well, at least Linkara was nice enough to include some of the lyrics for the end credits segment, which is more than most would have done.
On the other hand, The Others was... really stupid, but not in a good way like Brute Force seemed to be.
All in all, a solid review. Keep up the great work!

08.02.2010 - 21:11 | elelgood90Wow, I really want to buy Brute Force now. Sure, I'm a broke college student, but I think any price I pay for that comic is worth it.
This is off-topic, but my little cousin found my Dad's old comic, X-men versus Fantastic Four. I was little and I stole it from my dad. I didn't read it a lot as a kid. I just looked at the different covers(it was the four issues of it in one). I do wonder if you've ever read that Linkara? I haven't read it since I was younger. I liked it at the time, but I honestly had no idea what was going on. It's the only comic I remember reading.

I don't even get the idea of an issue #0 -_- Also, it's really weird to be flashing back and forth between this and the video for David Bowie's "China Girl"...The bunny girl looks like a young Lola from "Space Jam".
Cyber...dolphin? *sideways glance*
The gorilla is allowed to be hardcore!!! Although the clowns taking it is definitely an example of "Did you just punch out Cthulu"...
You with a gun, making "offers", is hot.
The Flipper joke just ruined my childhood...Still a good review though...the NOID???? You sick bastard..
-
The only reason I think of for there to be a issue #0, is after the comic has been running for a while, and there was an origin, but there was still some mystery behind it, like we didn't see everything (this would be in the case of a well written comic, of course), and the writers wanted to go back and tell that mysterious part of it, so the release issue #0 to tell that story. But only after the comic has been going for a good long while!

Cyborg Dolphins with guns?! That totally made my day... ROTFLMAO!!!!!!
BTW that dolphin was smarter than a human before the retarded "upgrade"
OMG!!! This is even worse than Captain Planet... but yeah... the epitome of so bad it's totally awesome...

08.02.2010 - 21:26 | The Neverending TwilightThe Robobear and Cybergorilla battle was freakin' epic! XD, this review is awesome. And wow... I was kind of EXPECTING a furry joke for the first comic. lol, but then again... since it was expected, it kind of makes sense that you wouldn't use it.

Robot Bear vs Cyber Gorilla sounds like the next movie from The Asylum. Both characters would unfortunately be played by guys in really terrible costumes that would make the Megazord battles look like documentaries. Also, "End of All Hope" might have been a slightly more epic song for the battle sequence, but that was indeed an awesome sequence.
About the issue 0/1 stuff, you'd think that'd be obvious, even from a numerical standpoint. Issue 1 would start the story, while issue 0 would show off stuff from before the story proper got started. It's only logical. It's an advertising gimmick, not a proper comic number. Rob Liefeld seems to say and believe some very inane things. :\
Also, loved the Cyberman clip. :D You made me a happy Whovian again.

4:15- Actually, Lewis, DC printed the first pages of all 12 Watchmen comics on the front covers.
The Others is like a crappy 90s comic take on a Disney animated movie, but for an older audience.
6:21- I'm a big Star Wars fan, and I hope that wasn't a joke AGAINST the prequil trilogy.
12:14- I would like to say something funny about that, but I think Kgent summed it up best.
These clowns are NOT The Joker or his men, and I hope Dr. Insano doesn't think of making anything like that gorilla.
Wow, that news lady sure has a very deep, manly voice.
If I want to see transforming animals, I'll just stick with the awesomeness that IS Beast Wars: Transformers.

As I recall, Dark Empire and Tales of the Jedi were pretty sweet...
And wow... Brute Force...
WOW
I haven't seen anything this blatantly insane since Batman called up to Robin for the Bat Shark-Repellent.
Linkara, you complete me.... in a totally plutonic, heterosexual, bromance kind of way.

08.02.2010 - 22:13 | SpotTheShingoRegarding Brute Force; it just tickles me seeing Linkara review a comic I used to own. But on the subject of cybernetic enhanced animals, has Link ever heard of Animax? (Also produced by Marvel in the 80's!)

08.02.2010 - 22:14 | scottydu81i am SO glad you reviewed this comic! i loved this comic as a kid for those very reasons (Bear v Gorilla).
you know, tweak the story a bit and youd have a pretty kick ass movie! a bear fughting a gorilla, a rhino fighting a robot dolphin, a hawk fighting a vulture.... AWESOME.
Linkara, what would you think of a Brute Force movie?
-
08.02.2010 - 22:16 | 13secondstomidnight
cyber-dolphins, robo-bears, gorillas with machine guns, and eagles with lasers shooting from their eyes.
...
... Wow, this is a really weird acid trip.
... but at least I know that the kangaroo listening to music and talking like a white rapper is simply all in my head.
GAH! LOOK OUT FOR THE PINK ELEPHANTS! THEY HAVE GATLIN GUNS ON THEIR TRUNKS!

08.02.2010 - 22:16 | Deimos1984rd
Why do Image Comics suck in the 90's? Do they still suck, or have they learned? Maybe do an Image Comic from more recent years and see how it holds up.
An untrustworthy snake?! Who would have thought!
By the way, how does the cyber dolphin and the cyber octopus stay alive? The octopus needs live in water to live! And the dolphin, though it breathes air like every other mammal, it needs to live in water to stay alive! That is so stupid! Granted, it's a comic book and can somewhat get away with that kind of stuff, but an explanation would be nice!
Also, Bad Romance as the title card song was awesome! Great review, Linkara!
