The Rat Pack AT4W! How did you keep that voice going for the whole video, including the ending song, Linkara?
• Peanut_Larry
It's good to see some Harvey once and a while, so when I saw he was doing a whole review I was ecstatic. The song at the end was just a wonderful icing on the cake. Well done :)

Omg, is that really your singing voice Linkara, because that song at the end made me literally swoon, and I am not the kind of lady that swoons for any man. XD

Dixon Hill anybody?!

I know you like Star Trek, Linkara, so I added that reference for ya. Friggen awesome review! I loved the voice and the song!

I FREAKING LOVE YOU'RE TITLE CARDS! :woohoo:

Awesome review.
Anyone else think the singing's going to get him even more fangirls?
• rudy023

Linking up with Linkara proved he has a way with the ladies.... or at least he thought so for about a week!
• Xatike
avatar
Ooooh yes. More fangirls INDEED! I have been following your videos from the start, Linkara, and there were a lot of times that you actually replied to me in kind. That, coupled with you singing...official fan for life.

Plus, I LOVE the subplots! Mechakara (I will still call him Uplinkara because it makes more sense to me), Linksano...and now HIM...it's going to be epic.

Thank you for making these.

Weirdly enough, I read the novel version of this, and I suppose stretching it out in a graphic novel SEEMED like a good idea...but all in all, the little details made up too much of the graphic novel. In a book, little note about liking fish, or shoes are fine hints into the character. In a graphic novel, they seem stupid and out of place.

After more than a year of watching AT4W on a regular basis, I finally have to second a comment like this. Tuesday has officially become Linkara day - I wake up, I watch your video and it makes my week, even though I don't read comic books. (I'm more on the manga side of life.)

I like the way you're reviewing stuff and apparently we have several opinions and fandoms in common. Plus, of course, the subplots and the tons of cliffhangers thst make these reviews even more interesting for me. And since I knew you could sing and often did so in little parts of your reviews, I was waiting to hear a full song and FINALLY it happened! If you like to sing that much, maybe you should make a new subsection...?

Wow, that sounded really fangirlish... But hey, first comment after a year, what do you expect?
Anyway, thank you for making these reviews and never stop being a nerd. ^-^

EDIT: I just noticed it after I saw my comment. I did NOT do this to get on the first page, but because I can totally agree with Xatike. So, if you care for a fangirl squee, count me in, that's all. -.-"

and it works :D

and fangirl is happy :)
• OgawaBurukku
Didn't win me over. Not really sure why it was there... seems like everyone wants to sing lately.
• amamelina
Yes. And this fangirl loved the song at the end.

How many want to bet the 90s Kid will be hosting next week?

Where art thou Linkara? For some reason I get flashbacks to that bit in Ultimate X-Men where everyone thought that Xavier was dead but was actually in the future being trained by Cable/Logan for the arrival of Apocalypse.
• raddaluigi
avatar
Wherefore art thou actually means "Why are you" or "Why are you speaking to me" ;)
• LunarLycan
avatar
Accidentally put the "fore" in there. But thanks for pointing it out. Chamoyer du ainer!
• SteveJones313
avatar
Actually many people would agree it means "Why do you have to be who you are?"
• 0dd1
avatar
Yeah, that's exactly it. In Romeo and Juliet when Juliet asks "Wherefore art thou?" about Romeo, she's pondering why he is a Montague, the family that is essentially the sworn rival of hers (the Capulets).
• mcgoverntt
I thought Harvey Finevoice was going to get on my nerves, but overall that was pretty darn funny. I'm assuming 90's Kid will be doing the review next week.

Japanese novels get manga version all the time. They are pretty good. Though the second Haruhi manga has some awful artwork.
• docfan2010

Your singing is actually really good especially considering you had to sing with the accent.
• whatever42
avatar
I second the fact that your singing with the accent is really good at the end there. Harvey Finevoice's name is most definitely not just for effect. :)

Speaking of which, it's great to see more of Harvey Finevoice. We don't see him too often, so an entire review with him is pretty awesome. I'm going to guess that 90s Kid might be the next guest reviewer, although that's just a guess.

Ah well, nice video Linkara. Very entertaining and I hope your situation in the other dimension isn't too terrible. ;)
• No one
I was surprised too!
• NCscritic
Umm, no, no I don't think you should have made a Buffy joke. actually I am very proud of you; you didn't stoop to the low level of predictable Twilight or (now that you mention it) Buffy jokes. your funnier than that Linkara, and you did the right thing. Good for you.

and speaking of Buffy, I am so sick of stories that mainly focus on Vampire hunters, because they always have this idiotic assumption that vampires are nothing more than mindless monsters. Vampires can still be smart, clever, and above all NOT EVIL, while at the same time remaining not-pansy badasses.
• KingGramJohnson
avatar
I agree. A Buffy or Twilight joke would have been overkill, and just cliche. It's nice for once to have a review these days that didn't feature a "sparking" joke...even though Twilight sucks.
• Jezzy54
avatar
Wasn't there at least one good vampire in Buffy? Besides, the idea with vampires is that their blood cravings are hard to control, so even the morally-average ones lose their standards, like a drug addict. Also, the heroes in those stories tend to only kill vampires who are obviously dangerous.
• epsilon246
Read Hellsing, it's good (sort of) vampires hunting bad vampires.
• mrskippy
avatar
Well, considering that the whole concept of vampires was from eastern European mythology about people selling their souls to the Devil for immortality, I'm gonna say that vampires are pretty much evil.
What are you anyway, some kind of zombie lover? I don't think I could be friends with a zombie lover... ;)
• LikaLaruku
avatar
Yeah, you're right. Why always Vampire HUNTER? Even when the star is a Vampire, it's always one that lives to kill his/her own kind.
• dragon_tamer222  - Fine Voice you have there (pun intended)
Nice, I expected more vampire hunting myself...lame comics, but nice song number at the end XD Gotta love a guy who can sing :P I hope the search for Linkara goes well!
• Kari
If you expected vampire hunting, then you haven't read the novel series. Go with that! Anita doesn't hunt vampires anymore, she screws them. (I have long since given up on the entire franchise.)
• The Coen Brothers lost brother

Not much we see of Harvey Finevoice. Surely the ladies will be calling.

I personally would love to see the epitome of bad 90's anti hero comics read by 90's Kid, but thats me.

Ummm I swear to god you better be talking about Spike and Angel and not Twlight... Still love the "new" Host of AT4W linkara which reminds me some how. You should find one of those Newer excaliber comics i hated them and it made me depressed to see what chris claremomt has come to

In my 19 years of living in St. Louis, I've never heard ANY vampire legends.

Why didn't they set it in a city like New Orleans or Williamsburg, cities famous for hauntings?

Anyway good review, I enjoyed it. I'm interested to see what happens next in this arc.
• Malicewithalice
Laurell K. Hamilton is from St. Louis, and she has mentioned that she didn't feel comfortable about writing a city she didn't know that well.

But... none of this seemed anything like St. Louis. D: Half of the locations seemed as vague as the settings in the Left Behind novels!

Twilight takes Vampires and turns them into a complete after thought.
I don't even see how Twilight can even fall into "dark" monster horror category
• redmangc
Yeah i know but really just look at some kids now adays they think the vamps in twlight are hardcore and could kick some ass. But None of them have a Soul, or saved the world, or did anything important... or anything.
WAIT Twlight did have attempted suicide over a high school relationship so my dreams almost came true that bella would die
• 13secondstomidnight  - Second'd!

Twilight falls into the "marketed for 14 year old preppy school girls who wouldn't know a good book if it beat them senseless" category.

Unfortunately it is marketed as "Romance/horror" in most bookstores. Which makes me physically ill.

I'm just going to say this now to get it out of my system: STEPHANIE MEYER RAPED THE ENTIRE VAMPIRE GENRE!!!! When Anne Rice did a bait-and-switch to become a religious zealot was nothing compared to what fucking Meyer did... *HIT HEAD ON WALL*. Sorry, I almost started ranting again.

Sorry for the caps. Heh hehe...

Harvey Finevoice! ^^

Thanks for the review, Linkara - I must admit, I actually picked these up for a browse during my vampire phase... somehow, it didn't hold my interest.

Probably had something to do with the vivid loving drawings of men with their shirts open. It gives me a little more sympathy for the women who put down comics with Power Girl in them because they're turned off by the window in her costume.

Plus, dear GOD, even TWILIGHT had more of a plot.

Loved the singing at the end, and looking forward to the rest of the story arc - Harvey Finevoice is full of win. :D
• 13secondstomidnight  - just a thought
avatar
I agree, although Twilight may have more of a plot (MAY) but it's so horrifically written with such simpering purple prose and god-awful characterisation... *hits head against wall hard to stop an anti-twilight rant coming on*

Anyway, I do have to add: NOTHING is as bad as Twilight.

Lewis you are braver man than I. I would never have the nerve to actually sing like that in front of the camera
• Codyage  - Another great review
I can't wait to see next weeks special guest host. I wonder if it will be 90's kid, maybe even that one ninja style dancer he has a lovely voice, I wonder if Pollo would be willing to do a review as well?

The comic series is set in St. Louis because Laurell K. Hamilton sets the books in St. Louis, where she lives. (Hamilton isn't exactly noted for getting research right, so it's probably just as well that she didn't set the series in any town that's famous for hauntings.)

And I'm enjoying this arc, too! Wonder who's going to be appearing next week?
