Mwahahahaha I can't get enough of these reviews! i also remember these comics becuase a cousin of mine was an obsessive comic book collector, he had huge tv boxs stuffed with comics from the 70s spanning to the 90s.

This one is my favorite episode so far...and plus its just a good example of how to make a bad product placement comic for children.

And I agree, no kid would be as hammy as Alec and say that stuff unless he thought he was going to get extra credit out of it or be a teacher's pet. I mean, yeah, when I was a little girl me and my friends liked to talk about what we wanted to be when we grew up and get excited about all the cool stuff we will do supposidely.

But then the rest of "We have to be the leaders for our country for a better America.." just kinda made it ridiculous

Love the intro about covers. Great as usual. I always look forward to Monday nites.

Linkara I think you are the first person on this web site to do a Giligans island joke
• ph0220
I saw the nostalgia critic do a Giligans island in his old vs new king kong review.

Hell yes another Atop the 4th Wall.
Fun guaranteed.

Linkara, 'fore I review this I wanted to say that in one of your reviews you didn't think anyone in the industry really listened to what you had to say--or was willing to learn from it anyway. Well, I gotta say that I'm trying to learn how to draw comics and I learn quite a lot from you :D So I'm quite glad you do this show--I get an idea of what not to do, and every time you go over covers and panel layout I really do pay attention. So thanks for this episode--I'll have to watch it again and take notes! XD

Annnyway. Can't wait to find out who 'HE' is.

This comic is....strange. I really can't think of a better word for it o.O;

I too have learned what NOT to do from Linkara. iter, but at least I can avoid major mistakes and plotholes.

On a side note... Did Shanna get held back a grade or two? In addition to Alec being too muscular, Shanna has more of a, shall we say, "teenage" figure?
• A Dead Diehard
Excellent review! A PSA comic, a new villain and Duke Nukem! :woohoo:

That was a pretty funny sequence, I hope you do include it further reviews. Loved the Skynet joke, that was the one joke that I didn't see coming.

Now you must join forces with Linksano and Mechakara to beat the evil Lord Vyce (Because poor literacy is KEWL).
• ThoraxProductions
You know what all this interdimensional stuff needs? An outcome related to... (ellipses)

Wow, the fact that the kid with Blonde Hair and blue eyes is talking about taking over the country so...unnaturally reminds me of the alternate version of history where the Nazis take over the world. Is this comic an attempt to make MEIN KAMPF more interesting?

I can hear it now:

Blonde kids: "VE VILL THINK VITH OUR BLOOD AND BRING GLORY AND HONOR TO THE FATHERLAND VORTHY OF THE FUHRER!"

Colored kids: "Yay, we're the happy slaves of the master race!"

Seriously. Also, Carlos Slim owns Radio Shack. He also owns a place called Mexico, and is the richest man on and off in the world. Most people don't even know he exists. Not so patriotic now, huh?

Does anyone else think Alec looks like Vault Boy from the Fallout series?

lol

And the kids were the worst part of this comic. Not even an adult thinks like they do!

Oh no, Alec is going to found the JSA!
Run for the hills!
• TragicGuineaPig

Mayor Jack Napier!

His campaign slogan: "Wait'll they get a load of me!"
• The Ticking Tombomb  - I Saw That!
You can tell when Linkara is yelling, "Thiiiiiiiink" he's trying not to start laughing.
• Zoltan

Ok, not everyone wants to eat out wonderwoman, that cover is actually pretty boring (even lame), especially by Jim Lee standards, ha has made much better covers.
Seven fists are awesome by the way.

Screech Powers can use Duke Nukem as an attack dog? How the hell does that work?

INCREDIBLES FTW!!!111!!1

I half-expected you to use the Ultimate Warrior's voice for Ale(x?)c.

Every night, Galactus checks under his bed for Lord Vice :0
• Eyeshot

Really, no boring comic today? Looks like I won't get any sleep tonight!

Wow, this title was so sugary sweet, it gave me cavities to spare. If that blond kid wanted to be the President or something, maybe he should do less preaching and more skirt-chasing. Hey, it worked for Bill Clinton!
• rybub
avatar
Wow I haven't laughed so hard at a joke in awhile.
PROSTITUTION!!! LOL
• Ebalance
I think you're spot on about this kid being the Ultimate Warrior: same stupid incredibly long useless dialogue and overuse of ellipses

Actually, I think they traced part of that panel and put in a different background and one slightly different kid

Why do they explain things OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER in this comic?!

And the police officers add bizarre, obscure, unnecessary innuendo

That "STATE FAIR" font reminds me of Star Wars for some reason

I think this story was written by a 1980's computer

I think you could have made a good Poyo joke somewhere in here...

Gotta love AT4W!!!!!
• moonloon
avatar
I also think they traced the kids from something else entirely.

Seriously these are the most over-developed elementary school students ever. Even taking the weird steroid-abuse panel at the end,all the female students have hourglass figures. Maybe it's just more of that weird comic book anatomy going on, but I was under the impression that that only applied to super-hero comics.

(On another note: What, Beatles reference at the end of the video? Clue? Am I supposed to go off on wild Paul Is Dead tangents now? Is Linkara actually dead, replaced by an actor/look-a-like named William "Billy" Shears Campbell? Am I just a loony?)
• Ollitsac Okim
i'd rather know why alec is sitting in a wheelchair in the panel where the whole class screams "GREAT, MS.WILSON!" but once they go to the "computer class" he's fine and is well enough to run a marathon. :S
• Roivas  - Obnoxious request
I know you covered it briefly here but is there a chance you could go into depth about what makes a good cover (in your opinion) in a future video? I'm not saying this advice wasn't useful but I'm somewhat thinking more towards talking about how to play light and shadows, drawing the eye around the cover, and catching notice on the shelf.

No real rush though, I know you've got a full plate of work as is. It's just something I would like to see you cover, if you'll pardon the pun.
• anaeuphis
They had to include the "all-electronics" qualifier in their statement about the first computer. Who cares about historical accuracy when you have to be patriotic in a PSA comic.
• Coolclaytony
i just realized that without his glasses i cant tell it's linkara even when he's wearing the rest of his attire, whithout the glasses he'd be just some dude wearing a brown coat and hat that i dont know who is reviewing comics.
• spiderdude1
LINKARA! who is this destroyer of universes that even linkasano is afraid of? WHO DAMNIT? WHO!
• snakestealth24

Oh my God Linkara you used the same song as I used in my vista review video. What are the odds of that happening. Now I'm going to look stupid when I submit it on the forums.

Blonde hair with strange blue eyes and freckles and buck teeth. This kid is really creeping me out o_o

Great review though! And it's funny that Radio Shack seemed to have been pretty prominent in the day, but now it doesn't seem too popular.

Y'know, at the end of the Warrior #2-3 review, I was a bit apprehensive about the possibility of the Mechakara arc starting up again. I was a bit excited to see where you'd go with it, especially since you handled it so well in the first place, but I also think you shouldn't get too carried away with creating arcs within reviews. But after the beginning and ending of this episode I am totally on board of whatever you plan to do! The ominous "He's coming!" at the beginning was great (as was the call back to the Son of Insano, which seems to sadly have been forgotten) and the evil laugh at the end from Linksano really drew me into the moment.

And yeah, it's your show, you can do what you want with it, so I guess I was just being a stubborn, disgruntled fan with worry.

I find it funny you went on the topic of covers this episode, because I only just began to realize why you'd rant about them in earlier episodes. I wasn't really a big comic book fan until recently, but now that I've been spending time at the comic store in my city I've really started to notice how some covers create a feeling of wanting to know what happens next, and others are just average.

That Alec kid is just freaky! The way he talked fit a bit too much to your earlier joke about them being brainwashed. Its like the school has tricked them into being adults before they're supposed to be. Even really nerdy kids would spend their vacation discussing careers that are YEARS ahead of them.

The stinger at the end of the credits nearly made me fall out of my chair laughing. There is no better word to describe it other than "Awesome". I can't wait to see what happens next week!

Edited to add: Oh yeah, and your editing to PSA HELL freaked me out. It was good since it fit to the "hell" thing, but it got unsettling near the end. I don't know why, but it did.
• Linkara
avatar
I'm guessing the unsettling bit was the echoing laugh of the face in the clock from a particularly psychedelic and creepy safety short.

I try to keep the story arcs mostly reserved for start and finish of episodes so people can still get the reviews they came for to begin with. ^_~
