"God would have to be the most vindictive dickish and self-righteous asshole that ever existed" ?
Having read most of the bible, this is pretty much the impression I get of that god :P Actually, this is a very good description of the god in the bible!
But good god was this comic bad, this is my favourite review of yours :)

The image and insanity of Wonder Woman praying will forever be stuck in my head. As soon as I saw it I was right there with you, yelling at my screen over the absurdity of what I was seeing. This comic has a strong theme of jealousy too. I have a notion that the people who worked on this comic secretly hate the super empowered protagonists. So they all banded together to make a story where superheroes become clinically depressed morons at the drop of a hat. Ugh!

Well, this one certainly got you mad, and I can't blame you. Damnit, I love Pulp characters like the Sandman and Batman and Doc Savage, but for the love of all things holy, they're not the *best*. The best superhero, after all, is Terror, Inc.

You're a brave man to review the total pussification of the Justice Leage, and in fact most of the DC universe.
If I know anything about DC superheros, it's that many of them didn't ask for their powers and wouldn't act selfishly after losing them. the only thing they'd react to is the fact that they can no longer help people.
The only exceptions I can think of is the Flash for being young and impulsive and wanting to impress the babes. And Superman for the reason stated above. Then again, I am thinking in terms of characterizations from the animated series as well as the comics, but I still stand by my point.
The heros aren't heros 'cuz they have powers but what they do with them. THAT plus the piss-poor writing and annoying scenarios are why this comic will always suck in my opinion.
Nice Review Linkara.

Of the ElseWorld series, which ones would you say are ones that, at the very least, should be given a look at. I recently got Red Son and it was pretty interesting, though the ending wasn't really as good as I had hoped from the build up. Also which should be avoided (JLA Act of God not withstanding)?

Anyone know the name of the piece of music that plays when Dr. Linksano explains the Black Light device to Pollo?

First of all, going on a tangent since the weapon enthusiast in me is kind loud...A Dual-sided Morningstar?????? That's BOUND to kill you within the first 2 swings, no dingbat villain needed. ONE ball has a HUGE risk factor, and was used by men in REALLY STURDY ARMOR, two is pointless and would throw off a person's balance. The only way it could get worse is if she lit the damn things on fire... there wouldn't be enough save rolls.... GAHH!
You know, this comic would be a perfect way to discourage the youth of our natures to avoid all things comic related. Urgh.
...Warrior... *shudder*

05.03.2010 - 21:12 | RhysduxBrilliant sporking, Linkara! This is an unforgivably stupid miniseries. I'm very glad you elected to kill it with fire. The most consummately wrong bit, I think, was Wonder Woman turning Catholic.
But I think the stupidest bit was that after all this, after all the emphasis on how superpowers make superheroes arrogant and evil and inclined to think of themselves as gods, after all the stress that is put on how good and right it is for them to lose their powers, Superman and Wonder Woman end up with a kid who has superpowers. If it was right for them to lose THEIR powers, why is it equally right for their son to possess similar powers? This makes no sense!

Look I'm glad you are open about being a Christian and I'm also glad that even with that you were able to see the ridiculousness of Wonder Woman praying.
But PLEASE, would you not say "god damn"?
-
05.03.2010 - 22:41 | MithianI'm a christian too. But as the phrase "Goddamn" has been so far removed of any context of my faith, meaning it appeals to nothing and is now simply a sound devoid of any meaning asides from frustration, I say go ahead and say it.
Also: Linkara I love you, you are the reason I'm getting back into comic books.
-
He's said "twat," "dickweed," "dick(ish)," "douchebag," "bitch," "asshole," "balls," "cockblock," and off-AT4W has even dropped the F-Bomb and S-Bomb.
But it's "God damn" that bothers you? And it bothers you now, after he's said "Goddamn Batman" so many times already?
*head desk*
-
05.04.2010 - 07:10 | Chol YerlowI think he's referring to the one AT4W episode where he got his college loans bills and almost completed the f word. In a let's play apparently he also said "no Sh*t" but it was censored.
and yeah I complained about that time as well.
-
05.04.2010 - 10:30 | DodgerOfZionF-bomb = Spoony's vlog Day 2, between 9:00 and 9:30. Apparently he's dropped it on the DVD too.
S-bomb = The charity drive
-
05.04.2010 - 07:06 | Chol YerlowHe was referring to what was written when he talked about "the god damn batman".
Saying God Damn is making God part of a cursing and is disrespectful. I just can't believe how many people just don't get that.

05.04.2010 - 10:41 | DodgerOfZionDude, you're at Thatguywiththeglasses.com .
With very few exceptions, there's going to be swearing of every color and type here. Your self-righteous complaints are not going to do a thing.
-
05.04.2010 - 12:00 | SignNinjaDude, lay off the guy. He doesn't like to hear the word God used in vain, it's not like he's beating you over the head with the Bible, like you guys seem to have taken it. I don't like hearing it either, but that's just me, I won't tell anyone they're wrong. But a simple request to not hear it is kind of justifiable. In conclusion, stop attacking a kid for making a request. That's like thumbs downing and attacking someone for requesting him do a review of the other Warrior comics!
-
05.04.2010 - 12:07 | DodgerOfZionI'm not "attacking the kid for making a request." I'm criticizing how unrealistic he's being, and how snooty he's being about it.
-
05.04.2010 - 20:21 | SignNinjaYou called him a quote "Self Righteous Zealot" How is that not attacking anyone?
-
05.04.2010 - 21:38 | DodgerOfZionI did not call him a "self-righteous zealot."
His complaining is self-righteous, but I would hardly call him a zealot.
Please look up in the thread; I did not resort to name-calling.

Thank you for understanding, unlike everyone else.
DogerofZion,
The original comment was just to point out that I didn't feel comfortable wit him saying it. I did not expect him to stop because I said so. And I am not self righteous or "snooty". I have an account on this site and watch videos with far worse swearing in it. I'm not perfect. I'm the same as everyone else on this website and comment section. I'm human. So sorry that stating my opinion is so wrong for a site based on critics. Oh, The irony.

He's said worse, its just for the show. He's a class act. To add, I'm Christian too, but I'll openly admit I swear sometimes, almost everyone does no matter what thier beliefs are. As Forrest Gump would say, "****, it happens."
To add, I agree, this comic is ridiculous. "Oh yes, God decided to humble SuperHEROES, who are cocky  . It's not like they worked for good and saved lives!" That's completely illogical and its guarunteed to cause problems that are a lot worse than cocky superheroes!!! What were the creators thinking?
-
05.04.2010 - 10:34 | raidensparxActually, I have it all figured out. It wasn't God at all.
Let's look at the facts. A single bright light destroyed all meta powers and most tech powers (while leaving very specific tech powers untouched, such as Villains and two other superheroes).
Batman has made his views on the spoiled natures of metahumans obvious in the past.
Batman is insanely rich and constantly puts funding into ways to stop metas if they go nuts.
While all the other heroes were out saving people, Batman was suspiciously missing when the light went off, leaving only himself, Man of Steel, and every villain with tech with powers.
When the other heroes were going nuts, Batman stayed hidden and let the villains run amuck until a group came to beg him and praise him for being incredible.
Batman did nothing to help the group stop their old friends from being tortured and their tech being distributed to villains, which would make Batman look cooler.
What does this all mean? Batman was behind all of it. Batman did it. Batman's an asshole.

The last one was suppose to be, what is now known, The Eradicator. I believe it/he was a super computer in Superman's fortress. It cloned his body and took it over, acting as Superman during that time. He's come back a few times, but nothing really stuck.
Also, The Cyborg Superman was in the Terminator cross-over he reviewed quite a while ago.
I award this comic no points and may God (or whichever God there of) have mercy on this comic's soul...
