NOTE: I'm aware Pell Grants tend to be handed out to students and not colleges, but according to my research sometimes they DO go to schools.

AND 8-Bit Mickey is in a contest to be in the next season of PSN's The Tester, vote for him cause he's awesome here

Yay, the Continuity Alarm is back!

Also, I randomly noticed something: At 16:30, how come you didn't mention anything about that woman's spine? It looks worse (and a lot more painful) than whatsername from Ultimates 3. :pinch:

Nicely done review, and... That many copies reminds me of certain cards.

...As for the hip thing, we can make it work. Just make sure that the heel doesn't break and you don't do anything faster then a turtle. Though if i had to give a reason, because sex sells and artists suffer from too little sunshine and too much urge to draw T&A.

That and (in theory) it looks dynamic and portrays a sense of motion, fluidity, and movement in a female character.

What naivette, comics in the 90s were not good, they were EXTREME!

Nuclear bombs tend to produce primarily neutrons as radiation, which, of course, wouldn't be affected by a magnetic field. And, you know, there's a danger from the bomb-blast itself that you can't ignore. So... yeah. You're right.

Whoa! A comic that doesn't suck! You just blew my mind.

Lets see if I can guess the reasons this issue sold so well. 1. The X-Men were a hot property in the early 90's due to a combination of the animated series that came out around that time and the already established fanbase from the 70's and 80's. 2. The fact most collectors at the time tended to buy multiples of 1st issues in hopes of getting rich years down the road. 3. The fact that there were 4 variant covers giving the afformenchaned collectors a case of proto-Pokemon gotta-catch-em-all fever. 4. It was a preaty good story all things considered.

Also, glad to see the continuity alarm is back up and running, to bad it now has a bit of a snark edge

Seems like the Continuity Alarm got an upgrade when it was fixed.

Here's to hoping it doesn't start feeling "special" and become the next Mechakara or something.

You know, if it were me, I'd have just left that dumb alarm broken. Then again, I would never have conceived of Sir Ian McKellen doing Judge Dredd, so what do I know?

Great video, Linkara. X-Men has always been one of my favorite teams, and I'm glad you couldn't say this comic sucked.

The new continuity alarm is a bitch. :D

Even I owned a copy of this comic at one point or another, and I don't normally read comics. I think this one and Spidergirl #1 might have been the only comics I've ever read.

Definitely a dated comic but not at least it's better than Liefeld's work.

Speaking of which was Lee taking notes from Liefeld on how to draw characters? It certainly looks it.

This is the first comic you've ever reviewed that I've actually read! I'm not a huge comic reader, but it was refreshing to actually enjoy a Linkara video with hands-on experience regarding his targeted burn.

Great job as always, Lewis. Eagerly awaiting a new series featuring 90's Kid. He's a radical dude.

Great episode Linkara, I think you could pull off doing more like this one. I actually think the 90s costumes were cool (I guess it's cause I was first introduced to the characters through the cartoon). Also I kinda cross my fingers that the continuity alarm will die. I dunno why but I only really like it with the Spider-man deal with Mephisto gag.

P.S. I laughed so hard at the Rogue voice, I kinda hope you'll get the chance to do it again.

I have to say that i fell victim to the multiple cover ploy back then as well. However i knew back then that these comics would never ever be super valuable. I pretty much would follow a certian artist that i liked so my comic collection jumps here and there alot. I do miss being able to go to a comic shop to find back issues and just socialize with other fans. the only place that sells comics where i live is hastings and to me that just does not count. anyway great review as always!

Well, it's thought that the institute gets funding from donations from wealthy mutant supporters, but yeah, that's definitely stretching things a bit, considering every. single. one of their "training missions" end up destroying the entire training ground ie Danger Room. That's gotta rack up a bill...

Ew, Gambit kissed Jean? That's like kissing your mom...

Now Bruce Wayne.. I always wondered what *his* tax auditor was like...

Great review, god to see the continuity alarm back.

You know, as sucky as some comics were in the 90s (though overall, it was an awesome decade for comics), I'd have to say that the 90s was the best age of the X-Men comics. The best art, the best stories, the best costumes (as much as I like Astonishing X-Men, I hate that they brought back the skull cap to Cyclops' uniform. He's my favourite X-en, but I still say they should have kept the skull cap out of the costume design and just stuck with his har uncovered. I really hate that skull cap.)

The 90s was just a great time for X-Men, and this was indeed a very good issue. In fact, I should probabely replace my copy, it's getting a little tattered, given that it's over 10 years old.

Well done Linkara. I imagine people have already said so...wait, as I type this, no one has...how dare you all!

Edit: Crap...in the time it took me to finish, this point as been rendered invalid! How dare you all!

But, in any event, I'm a little curious:
With comics that revolve around groups of heroes, do they ever launch into explanations on how the characters came to be, outside of issues that are directed made for that purpose?

I just got to thinking that X men style wouldn't really be for me, as I'd have no idea how to feel about a character at the beginning.
I may be wrong, and I hope I am, but my question still goes out none the less.

Why does Magneto's hair keep changing length?!

Seriously, look at 12:58 minutes into this episode and compare it to 16:55 and again at 17:30. What's the deal with that?
