Wow, Luke Cage just lost all his coolness credibility with me. I need to play some Ultimate Alliance so he can redeem himself.
Lewis, how did you get through this without bursting into laughter?

I actually have a comic I'm thinking about sending to Lewis that also has some incredibly stupid Spidey moments. Spider-Man: Fear Itself.
It's Spider-Man taking on neo-Nazis who stole a plot from the Scarecrow. Do I need to say anything more?

Great job, Linkara! Ah, the sheer stupidity of some well-meaning but utterly laughable attempts at getting kids to not do drugs. Oh, and the "Brooklyn Rage" at the end was priceless. Fantastic episode!

Jeez, this comic is just disjointed.
"What are mutant powers going to do against thugs?????" BROOKLYN RAGE!

I actually think this is from the 90's, because I recognize Storm's purple costume from a 90's comic, and Luke Cage doesn't have hair or a tiara anymore. Also, the art style looks more at home in a bad 90's comic than a bad 2000's one.

Chee, that was a bad comic.
Seriously, Peter Parker is secretly Spiderman!? Really?

Storm could easily take em all out with a tornado or a hurricane or thunder but NOOOOOO The comic wouldn't allow that...man this comic blows.
-

Storm is possibly even more gamebreaking than the bloodsucking Magneto from that movie.

Wow, that was bad. So many things didn't make any sense. Great stuff Linkara!

Weird, it feels like this comic should be about cocaine or something. Not smoking.
-
11.24.2009 - 02:51 | theADHDkid
I actually quit smoking recently. But now all I can think about is smoking.
And its not like me smoking will affect something as important as the outcome of a high school track meet. . . . But I need that money for whiskey.Another great episode as usual.

HOLY SMOKES!! I actually read this!!! (Which is a huge deal as I very rarely ever read American comics.)
I remember back in the 5th grade (I'm pretty sure it was 5th grade) the teacher gave these to us in Health class. We even read it together and talked about the comic as a class. We even got to keep our copies to take home, I held onto it for many years (dunno why I did though) but I finally got rid of it years back. After viewing your series, for the longest time I wished I kept my copy so I could have sent it to you to review, but it looks like I didn't have to.
Also, this comic if *definately* older than 2007, as I attended 5th grade back in 1999/2000. Thought you should know...

Wow, I read so few comic books, I didn't expect Linkara to review one I had already read. We read copies of these in 9th-grade health class once, but I don't think we got to keep them.
I couldn't expect much from a PSA, though. At least I knew who Storm was thanks to the X-Men Vs. Street Fighter arcade game. I almost beat that game using Storm one time, although I may have relied more on Ryu's jumbo fireballs.

Nice intro graphic. I'm guessing the sign is mean to be read "No smoking, but if you do smoke make sure you light the right end, retard."

Sadly this was one of my first comics, I loved it then though, but I was comic deprived

Yeah, that comic does suck. Good review, as always.
At least, it's not as bad as those The Truth commericals.

Where did Storm's body go when she was explaining the plot to the other two?
-

Ironic. I'm cutting down on my cigars and beer consumption.
LINKARA HAS SPOKEN.

10:40 onwards:
Oh my god, look at that floating disembodied head on the left of the panel. I hope those are supposed to be glasses.

I think my brother actually had the original! I wonder if he still has it...
-
11.24.2009 - 03:45 | cyphrx
LOL. I used to own this comic in it's original form back around the nineties...I can't believe they decided to remake it! I need a ciggarette.

I just love the intro ;P god damn! Great review as allways Linkara // SnouGi

I READ THIS ONE! or at least the original one, it was handed out at a state fair in Illinois when I was like 7, I thought it was goofy and stupid and blocked it from my memory in favor of the salt-water taffy. Fairs used to be a lot of fun, I wonder what happened?
lol, r2 smoking
hey, I like Green Arrow
(I guess he was an ass, but he did get better through character growth, now he is pretty cool, but still troubled)gee these people don't speak like human beings
what are mutant powers going to do against thugs? really?
wolverine, get me a latte!
Luke Cage looks really stupid in this one.
smokescreen looks a lot like Obsidian in this one, with an effed up collar.
Oh yeah!
gradient background park, lol
lol, Brooklyn rage.

Wow. I didn't think that any PSA comic could surpass the Radio Shack crossovers with DC--where Superman uses the most powerful computer around to help fight crime...and that computer is a TRS-80...
...and I was right. While silly and with Marvel characters making entirely pointless appearances (NFL Superpro flashbacks, anyone?), the comic really didn't violate any canon with the characters and, while heavy with the preaching, has a solid albeit generic superhero story.
While mockworthy, it's really not the worst out there. Really, get one of those Tandy/DC crossover comics. That stuff is practically made for this show.

While waiting for the Chili's commercial, I thought about the title splash page and said "OH MY GOD I HAD THIS ONE!" Can't wait to watch!
...Yeah, Tiggerpete, I got mine in the same thing. Champaign/Urbana area, yes/no? (Was living at Chanute AFB at the time.)
...holy crap, it IS the same story. Word. For. Word.
