It's a reference to one of the many alternate endings to one of the Silent Hill games.

I enjoyed the alternate endings, especially the "ratboy" ending.

Coldguy, it's a shoutout thing to the Silent Hill games. 1, 2 and 3 (not sure about the others) have all had them as little optional endings you can get. Very adorable.

"Phantasmagoria!" Loved that video series from Spoony. Also thought this video was pretty funny too. Especially "The Room" reference at the end. Anyone who doesn't get that joke has yet to truly experience horror.

To be fai, it's quite obvious that pulling off the chains wouldn't actually do anything. I mean, he bangs the door when people are right outside without them hearing, and when they leave him notes they just turn into an unreadable mess.

...But as always, there are hints of still darker things to come to Atop the Fourth Wall. (Pollo's been possessed by the devil! Or Mecha-Linkara. One of the two)

If I remember correctly, nothing he does to the apartment affects the outside world.

At one point, he finds a hole a previous person made and stares right out next door, but the occupant there cannot see the hole or hear him speak.

Granted, why he didn't put large physical force as you suggest to the wall is anyone's guess: the word stupid comes to mind too!

I would play ANY videogame where you played as Tommy Wiseau.

The A-button would make him say "Oh HAI [character and/or object]", the B-button would make him reinstate that Mark is his best friend, the Z-button, depending on the level, would either have him launch into his thesis about how Lisa is the most beautiful woman in the world, or simply reassure some NPC "Don't worry about it."

Silent Hill 4: The Room. Tommy Wiseau. I totally just got that. Why did that take me so long? Swiss Moment! Crud.
