What are you talking about? The movie was pretty much nearly the greatest accurate representation of a game. The Silent Hill movie will not be forgotten as many of the fans of the game also love the movie. It's not like the first Silent Hill game had such a deep story. The movie is considered the best of it's kind and by far one of the best video game adaptions ever made. The music, atmosphere and setting were picture perfect to what Silent Hill looks like.

I would say it was one of the best video game adaptations ever, but that really isn't saying much is it?
They really pussed out on the story. They could show a woman being raped by barbed wire but they couldn't say a woman burned her daughter alive and kept her in agony in an attempt to birth a heathen god for her crazy cult?

Shitty movie? Far from it. Unlike say, House of the Dead. Silent Hill, was actually a nice take on the games, in fact it was pretty much an alternate telling of the first Silent Hill. While adding in some elements from the other games (Pyramid Head was awesome in the movie! It's just a shame he wasn't a big part of it.)
You sound like you want the movie to be EXACTLY like the games, if that's the case... play the freakin' games! Oh, and people complaining about the excessive violence... wha? The games have excessive violence in them. What about the pile of guts in the first game, or the nightmare ally.

I don't know what's scarier, the artwork or the fact this comic is based on a good survival horror series. The story has such a potential for being really good in the first two issues. ...then the audience finds out the whole thing was viewed from a video tape from a bunch of teenagers. Yeah. I never read the Silent Hill comics, but I already have a feeling the next couple issues are going to be rediculous as hell.
On a positive note, the ending of this review was epic. :D

I already commented on the AT4W blog, but I again wanted to say how great a review this is. I really loved the Michael Moore jokes. Matter of fact, here's one of my favorites:
Q: Michael Moore, Glenn Beck, and Rush Limbaugh get in a fight to the death. Who wins?
A: The American people.
The artwork... good God, it looks like something Charles Addams drew after having a stroke! The weird mega-jaw Troy has around the 9:20 mark is unbelievably disturbing and hilarious at the same time. I can't wait to see what horrors will be unleashed with the next three issues...

How can you put Michael Moore in the same category with Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh? Michael Moore is a left-winged extremist whining Liberal. Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh are Conservative American Patriots with real talent. In any case, the joke was this: President Obama, Vice President Biden, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank, Harry Reid, Tim Geitner and Hillary Clinton are on a sinking ship in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean-Who survives?-The United States of America.

Ooooo dear. Ooooo dear oh dear.
WHEN is it going to be learned that making lines cross from one medium to the other does NOT work?! (Proven again in the Star Trek comics)
Great work Linkara thanks for giving the background on the comics you review, especially for those who may not have a solid or even bare knowledge of chars involved. I'm starting to pick up on Catwoman myself
Keep up the fantastic work! You're the only real comic reviewer who does it right, and do it right indeed
EDIT: Re: The hug sound affect - You just know that, if that were written in kanji and this were a manga, that wouldn't be out of place. But in English and in a Chopping Block-esque (artwise) comic? Stands out like a fat feminist in a cheerleader lineup

Oh, Silent Hill, what have they done to you...?
Actually, though, that's true about white being death in Asia, in fact in almost all of the cultures (but especially, of course, China and Japan)--thus, they were white at funerals. It doesn't make it any less stupid, though, that he leaps to that conclusion.

It would be pushing it to call that a stylized art style. It is so consistent, and just downright UGLY at some points. I don't think I would pay for that.
Nice review. I am in the same camp as you, love the series, haven't touched the games. Hope to play them eventually. Looking forward to the next parts.

I thought the artwork looked more like a Dave McKean ripoff (huge Neil Gaiman fan). I don't know much about comic artists, and even I think the stuff for this Silent Hill monstrosity is bad.
I love your comment on a demonic Dakota Fanning, but that little evil spawn girl in the Silent Hill comic isn't scary. Fanning's character of Jane fron New Moon is scarier than that.
Keep up the great work Linkara. I'm a huge fan of yours.

but wow, I have never been startled at certain points where you show different pages, i mean...why are they so deformed??? It startled the hell out of me. (I saw the review in full screen)and there are 3 "shuddering" 3 issues left...GOOD LORD!!!

I don't know but some of the images of that little girl is...just creepy...
As for the color thing i have heard that in ancient Egypt black was the color of life and white symbolized death.
In case your wondering it has to do with agriculture. The blacker the soil is the richer it is and the better it is for growing things. When soil is very pale it means that it has very little nutrients in it and therefore isn't good for farming.
