I love your voice work when you read and review these comics Linkara, have you rever throught about going into voice acting?
It kinda takes me back to my childhood when my older sister would read to me her comic books partically the "Ren and Stimpy" and "Beavis and Butt-head" issues and also do the voices.

Basically the Fortunate Son in the comic is the manager Lazarus, who was the twin son of fakeElvis whose parents gave him to a rich family to raise, as their parents were too poor to raise two children.
This was partially based on Elvis having a dead twin brother in real life, called Aaron I think.
The Fortunate Son is the manager for being brought up by rich people only to end up hawking other people's music, instead of growing up in a shed and being "special".

08.17.2009 - 17:11 | warman40kSo Batman based his "thoughts" and "opinions" around one instance instead of using his, oh I don't know, his fraking detective skills!?! Taking by a case-by-case basis, like a real detective does?
Rock and Roll and Batman should have been cool and awesome beyond all words, but NOOOO!

I actually believed that Batman didn't like music at all... But anyway, This is definitely going to my Linkara's favorite episodes list.
And remember kids: "ROCK AND ROLL AIN'T NOISE POLLUTION!"
(I'm surprised this song wasn't in this video, but I actually don't care. God Bless AC/DC and Linkara)
Keep up the good work!

I'd expect this sort of thing to be made in the 50s and given out for free like those funky Teen Titan's "Just Say No" books of the 80s. But this is the first time I've seen a book who's "message" is so twisted and blatently propgandad. Given TimeWarner's music devision is pretty big, I'm surprised they let "MUSIC IS BAD!" pass.
And after seeing the first why Batman hates rock so much, I'm waiting for another book which shows Batman have a flashack where young Bruce is about to put a quarter into a PacMan machine, but his dad stops him and tells him that the Zorro movie will start in a few minutes and there is no time for games, this VIDEO GAMES ARE EVIL AND CAUSE KIDS TO KILL!
Good call on the "God Gave Rock&Roll To You" to sell the point.

-
08.17.2009 - 17:49 | SpotTheShingoCourse Robin looks 50, he's still played by Burt Ward in this comic, who'd be over 50 by now! And Batman? It's George Clooney! Nice TMNT live concert ref, too!
-
08.17.2009 - 17:49 | Hyena DandyYou see, I read this comic. And when Kung-Fu Girlfriend started going on about the song burning people up I was hoping that she had some sort of conspiracy with Not!Elvis who really HAD become a god, and they were trying to bring him back by summoning him with music. However, most other musicians couldn't stand the force of Not!Elvis' deitiness and burned up.

08.17.2009 - 17:53 | HitnweyGood job as always, Linkara. This long review makes up for the short one last week (longer is always better in my books :P)
I do have to say, be careful when you read out quotes from books, as you often skip or otherwise misread the line. Not that I'm trying to be critical (I'd be much worse, as I've learned from experience), it's just that I saw it 3 times in this review alone, and have noted the same problem ("") in others.
*awaits the dozen "SO WHAT" replies :P*

I love the Camel Cigarette voice you have going on there.
I'd almost say that its 'I-zaak' like the Middle East name but the guy is white-as-the-pure-driven- snow.
