I FUCKING HATE EVERYTHING ABOUT "THE MELANCHOLY OF HARUHI SUZUMIYA." It is an anime about abosolutely nothing at al. Believe me, I HAVE SEEN EVERY SINGLE EPISODE OF THAT SHOW, IT MADE ME WANT TO TEAR MY HEAD OFF. THis anime is the worst anime ever made, nothing is developed, characters are broing and annoying, the plot isn't there, there's no myssteries in this anime, because HARUHI keeps foreshadowing what the mysteries would be and what they actually are.
There's no mystery in this entire peice of vomit, this anime should never have been made, I HATE THIS ANIME, THE MANGA ITS BASED ON AND THE ZIPPERHEAD JAPANESE FUCK THAT MADE IT. ALL OF THESE THINGS SHOULD BE PUT IN A BONFIRE.

i resent that you replied to my comment just so you could wave your stupid opinion in people's faces. Haruhi's a great, if overrated, show that fucked up its second season with 8 consecutive identical episodes. none of your complaints make any sense. in fact, i'm pretty sure you're talking about Lucky Star, not Haruhi. either way, shut up
-

Wait, can you explain the Haruhi thing to me a lil more? I saw it a long time ago, and I liked it then (but this was before I looked at things critically and I actually thot naruto was good)
I dont really remember anything about a time loop tho. It seemed to be a linear story (with jumbled episodes, but linear if you watch it in the right order), but with the characters just going along with what Haruhi wants in fear of shit happenin

I think my dislike of the series stems from being uniformed, I expected some awesome adventurous tale, full of uncovering mysteries and finding out the source of Haruhi's power. Instead its a slice of life comedy with some supernatural elements. I believe that if I would watch the show again, knowing what I know now, I'd like it a bit more.
p.s. But endless eight, yeah, I'm going to skip that.

"oh come on, the mooneye's plan is cool. its a shonen manga series, what do you
expect?"
maybe something intelligent and not completly stupid... As anyone would expect from a good serie.
Seriously Naruto is plain dumb
-
10.19.2009 - 22:36 | BatOtaku13
i honestly dont think its THAT dumb. it fits in the naruto universe by being dependent on magic and outlandish jutsu powers and actually makes logical sense. if madara just sucked up everybody, it wouldnt bring peace because there would be nobody left in the world. madara's just misguided about how to bring peace by forcing it as opposed to teaching it. yeah, the ten tailed beast thing is only first mentioned in the chapter, but so what, is an author not able to create a story as it goes along. also, besides endless eight, haruhi season 2 good IMO.

I'm glad to hear you comment on the latest happenings in Naruto, though I disagree with what is the worse thing that has happened in the series thus far. Yeah, the Mooneye thing is silly, but I expected something like that because Pain, the leader of Akatsuki, is now dead and thus the motivation for Madara would probably be different from Akatsuki to depict that. It's really out there and definitely feels like an ass-pull, but it didn't really bother me. In fact, I didn't analyze it critically until I watched this video.
No, my biggest problem was the end of the Pain arc. For one, leaving the Hinata plot-thread hanging is poor for multiple reasons. For one, Hinata's apparent death is what triggered Naruto to go insane and skip, initially, right to the six-tail form of the Kyuubi, something that had never been seen before. In fact, he skipped to that without ever revealing the five-tail form. Considering that fact, the weight of that moment has been ignored from there on out. This isn't even putting into account all the Hinata fans that want to see her paired with Naruto rather than Sakura. I think the funniest part is that Kishimoto was like "You know how we just advanced the relationship between Naruto and Hinata? Let's drop all that and have Naruto remark about how he's still in love with Sakura even though she's still in love with Sasuke!"
Of course the worse part of the end of Pain's arc for me was Pain's revival of everybody that died. Basically, in one simple act, it took the power and weight the arc had and the reason the series was beginning to get really good again and destroyed it over the course of one chapter. Looking back at the arc now, everything seems like a joke since you know that it all works out in the end. It made a mockery out of what promised to be the best Naruto arc since before the time skip.

LOL
I could not have said it better myself on either count.
I'm so glad that I could just marathon through Endless Eight, usually there was alcohol involved. Though, I did like seeing the making of the movie. Seriously, I thought Kyon was going to punch a betch.
As for Naruto, after 467 I was like "Really? That's your big plan?" And then I couldn't get that REM song dedicated to Andy Kaufman.
Kishimoto fails epically. Everyone, just go read One Piece, Fullmetal Alchemist, Soul Eater, you know A GOOD SHOUNEN!

Hrm, not as good as your first Reaction Shots, but still good. A few suggestions though:
1) Why is this one listed in a separate "Specials" category? The first Reaction Shots wasn't, why is this one? It just seems completely unnecessary. I'd put it in the same category as everything else.
2) I wish you had given a little more background to Endless Eight at the start; someone unfamiliar with it probably would've been pretty confused. You just kind of jump into it without any explanation about what it is.

Ok, seriously people, just accept that the creator of Naruto has an eye fetish.
Sharingan, then byakuggan. I could accept these as they were, a unique trait to 2 very unique clans.
Mangekyou sharingan, or as I like to call it, "sharingan: level 2." At the beginning, I could accept it, it made Itachi badass. Then they started showing WHAT he could do with it, and I just started going "Ok, seriously, we get it, his eyes are cool. MOVE. ON."
Rinnegan. Ok, what the... friggin' resurrection eye? Really? And this is "The most powerful eyes" that we've never, ever heard of for no good reason. Oh yea, and he seems to be able to do almost anything just because he has those eyes, regardless of the fact that none of his techniques require the use of his eyes. He could be friggin blind and he'd have the same techniques, minus the seeing from the point of view of every one of his puppet corpses simultaneously.
Madara's sharingan... alright, really? The way he was set up, he could have been from ANY clan, he could have had any background that had any motive for vengeance, and he could have had any set of abilities. But we have a hardon for the sharingan, so let's make him a vaguely referred to Uchiha. Oh, and let's give him powers that don't seem to be eye-related at all that originate from his "sharingan: level 3"! Let's not forget that he's so ancient that he was around BEFORE THE LEAF VILLAGE WAS EVEN FORMED. Oh my f'ing god. Ya make a guy with the eyes called the "resurrection eyes" immortal, I'd understand the concept, but wtf is so special about Madara to make him live that f'ing long?!
The final one, I have no other name for than this: "Sasuke's wtf eye." Seriously, wtf? We haven't truly seen Sasuke use this eye besides one very special technique that, in my opinion, thoroughly ruined Itachi's image. The ultimate defense is just something to stand still and hide behind, it doesn't require special fighting skills like when we first saw Itachi fight, like how we've seen Sasuke fight before this point, just a shitload of energy while you STAND. F'ING. STILL. You know, like a ninja normally would mid-fight... ok, I gave up on the ninja pretense a long time ago with this anime/manga, but still. Still, this could be done with the mangekyou, this is obviously something "above" the mangekyou (sharingan: level 2.5?), but it has nothing to show for it?
That's not even mentioning the "moon powerpoint presentation plan" (thanks for that one, I love it), using a never before heard of combination of the beasts (wouldn't that be 45 tailed beast? Hey, 1 + 2 + ... + 9 = 45, makes just as much sense, damn it, but then we'd need MATH), to power up the sharingan: level 3 from a single person attack to a multiple person attack (sharingan: level 3.5?). Good thing he doesn't have 2 eyes, or maybe we'd have to...

Madara's "EYE IN THE SKY" plan just sounds so ridiculous I can't help but think he just made up this story and told the Hokage's a lie so he could move ahead with his REAL masterplan without being interrupted. Now THAT would be a great twist..... :!: ......funny too.
Madara: What? You didn't really BELEIVE that nonsense about a 10-tailed beast and a giant eyeball in the sky and the moon being a corpse, did you? That would just be retarded....
BTW, you should do more Reaction Shots in the future, they can be a weekly thing like other reviewers on the site. Just make sure to describe what's going on in a manga/anime before you go on about it. You can react to manga chapters that just came out. Just my opinion.

Doublepost, deal, completely non-Naruto related here.
Not all manga that go over 400 chapters are bad. One Piece, as many have pointed out, is still as awesome as ever. The mechanics built up for how the fights come about and everything allows for anyone to be very strong against anyone else. For example, who the f' woulda saw Mr. 3 being useful against someone who kicked Luffy's ass with ease?! Didn't last all that long, but it made the guy get serious, and he did NOT get serious against Luffy. It's not DBZ, Naruto, Bleach-ish. It's not "Someone strong, fight, win. Someone stronger, fight, win. Someone even stronger, fight, win." It's "Someone with this ability, fight, eventually win after figuring out how. Someone with a completely fresh and new ability, struggle, figure out his weakness, win." Hell, I believe we've seen Luffy run away from a fight twice now because he knew it was hopeless at their current level and with the little they knew then! Yea, they have to get stronger and stronger, but not to the point of DBZ "We're stronger than the gods of the universe" strong, and it still has a very stable story that keeps twists coming (I figured Ace and Luffy weren't blood-related when they first introduced Ace, but DAMN).

I second what you said. I much prefer the "Can't ebat someone until you work out HOW to beat them" approach to "Power Level Tennis" (as I call it), i.e.
"I am this strong!"
"Well I'm stronger!"
"Ahh, but I know this tecnhique!"
"I can counter that technique with this!"
"Ahh, but I can become super, mega, ninja, fox, grim reaper level 42!"
"I can't counter that...!"
"I WIN!"
If you're interested in manga that focuses more on strategy, have you read Hunter x Hunter? I rarely read manga these days but it was one of my favourites and VERY different. It has some simular ideas to Naruto but I should mention it pre-dates them.
Anyway, wow... Just... Wow... Makes me glad I dropped Naruto back when I did. To me it sounds like he's pulling out random ideas left, right and center. I mean weren't the tailed beasts meant to be based on creatures from Japanese mythology?! Now suddenly they can transform like the Zords from Power Rangers into one mega tailed beast (as someone else said, it should be a 45 tailed beast)?!
Like others have said, I'd like to hear your reaction to some of the other series that get released. As great as weekly would be, it may not be pratical (not sure what kind of work schedule you have) and if you wait and month, you'd have more to talk about. Just a suggestion from a fan/agreeing with a good idea someone else mentioned.

I feel your pain about the recent developments in naruto (though I liked that Pain gave up without a fight, it was pleasant to have a major villain listen to the lame hero speech). There's really nothing to say about it, since you've read it and understand the fail.
Though I actually like Endless Eight. The actors really got to put their own flavor into it over time, Sugita and Yuko's performances in the last two iterations being especially wondrous. Plus the fact they had the gall to actually make the arc. In the end I suppose it's something you either love or you hate.
(Oh, and what do you think of recent developments in the series by the other hack author of the Shounen Big 3?)

10.20.2009 - 00:59 | tiggerpetegreat episode, keep em coming, and I am not clear on this, is this directed towards bad manga, or is it a short-hand commentary on all manga? cause if it includes good manga, I would love to see your take on Trigun in this format (honestly I saw the anime long before I read the manga, but I really liked both, so take that for what you will)

That was a hilarious episode, because it was ONE episode, and an hour long. Christopher Judge's straight-man role to Richard Dean Anderson totally sold it, because it was two people who could help put the weirdness into perspective. But 8 episodes, with only one perspective of the constant repeating to balance against your own? Doesn't sound like a good idea.
