03.28.2009 - 09:43 | Speedwagon33Welcome! I would suggest you to do Monster, but to review it would be spoiling it, and I personally feel that would ruin a lot of it. It's a really great manga though.

From what little I read, the manga is vastly superior. Satoshi isn't a whining little prick who can't fight worth a damn. In the first episode of the anime he's running away from the Spearows. In the manga, he shakes them off with a stick in three seconds, and captures a giant Fearow that's with them. Now that's intense.
Also, in the first Pokemon League, in the anime, he failed because his Charizard was lazy. In the manga, his Charizard went up Richie's Charizard (Charizard, not Charmander, like in the anime), lost all sense of control, and slashed it to ribbons. Satoshi called it back before it outright killed Richie's, and because Richie's was still conscious, it won by default. That's badass.

I guess you have to appeal to a wide audience so that's why you did the Naruto and why you'll be doing Bleach and One Piece. Not my cup o'tea, i just never got into it...to bland for my tastes.
If you're going to do easily recognizable ones though, why not go with Hellsing? Obvious choice really, and for those who haven't read it, it'd be nice to let them know that it's not a "vampire soap opera" as I've heard it categorized as.
Though if more soap operas had nazi vampires eating babies, i'd be more inclined to check them out.
Excel Saga (the manga specifically) is an awesome parody and exemplifies Japanese society in ways even the average anime/manga fan don't always see.
Cromartie High School is..along the same lines, but with more Freddy Mercury and robots in high school uniforms.
Berserk. You must do it. You cannot resist it. You do not want to resist it. You want to share with the world and explain to them how awesome it is beyond the first big arc that was animated.
Giant trolls. GIANT TROLLS MAN!
Tsukihime: Lunar Legend's a good vampire one, but it is sorta soap opera-eey.
For truly fucked up love stories though, check out Portrait du Petite Cossette. Disturbing and awesome. Ghost Talker's Daydream is along the same lines as well. Except the latter has more bondage.

Some manga suggestions:
Fairy Tail
To-Love-Ru
Liar Game
Bakuman (This one is a new-ish series by the collaboration that brought us Death Note, so if you haven't heard of it, I'd check it out.)

Hey Nick. Glad to have you be part of the site. I really liked your first video and hope you keep doing videos just as well. I hope you saw my list in your comments, the only one that I feel you may not do is Elfen Lied and Ranma 1/2 just do to the nudity and violence. But I am glad your doing my favorites One piece and Bleach. So yeah, welcome to the site
P.S. what do you use to scan the pages of the manga to put them on the screen like that. If you could tell me it would be much appreciated. Thanks. I am also trying to get into videos. Again Congrats man.

I just now found out about you and already i'm like week late of your naruto review, ah well might as well say my thing for that first.
Freaking great review, you pretty much spoke out all of my personal feelings during the "Year of Sasuke" thing that was going on. If Kishimoto would've still kept that up, I would have flew to japan myself and throat punch him in person (I would not really do that but you catch my drift). Keep up with what your doing, i know some poeple say that you swear too much, but i think that if that's who you are when you do your reviews, then go ahead and swear like a sailor, because i think that is a perfect way to express some of those WTF moments in the Manga that your going to review, whatever they may be.
Now with that out of the way, let me get to "now" moment, which is...
Welcome to TGWTG and I hope you bring many reviews, along with laughs, in the coming future. Can't wait for your next video and now if you excuse me, off to the new Suggestion Forum Topic.

03.28.2009 - 12:01 | BrinnyWelcome to the site! I enjoyed the Naruto review and it was nice to see someone Manga-ing it up here.
I can't wait for your One Piece review! It's my favourite manga of all time, so fingers crossed to don't dislike it as much as you do Naruto. I'd also, as far as reccomendations go, love to see your take on Detective Conan - another favourite of mine.
And I recommend you try and get ahold of the manga Mystical Prince Yoshida-Kun. I know it sounds ridiculous from the title but it's basically one big satire of all those manga stereotypes and my god is it hilarious, but just because it's a joke it doesn't mean it falls prey to shoddy artwork. Sadly it was given the scrap after only one graphic novel (Certainly as far as the translators took it. I haven't found out if there's any more of the Japanese version.), but it's totally worth hunting down. I'm not sure it'd be good for a review or anything, but I do think you'd enjoy it. It's only a quick read anyway. 8)

After your review of Naruto, I went to the website you suggested (onemanga.com) and I saw the list of popular manga. The first four I definetly heard of (I'm TRYING to get into EyeShield 21), but the fifth place manga completely baffled me! I never heard of History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi! but right after the first chapter, I fell in LOVE with the book and I think a review of it would be sweet just so word can get out!

1. Fist of the North Star. One of the best series in my deranged opinion
2. Jo Jo’s bizarre adventure. This is probably one of the strangest yet addictive mangas I’ve ever read.
3. History’s strongest disciple kenichi. Just got into this one recently, but it’s a really entertaining book. It’s pretty much what happens if you played fighting games for most of your life and decided to make a story of all the things that influenced you over the years.
4. Berserk. Do I even really need a reason?

And here I was thinking that I was going to be the only one to suggest Hokuto no Ken (FotNS) or Jo-Jo's.
Kenichi took a downturn after the Ragnarok arc (at least in my opinion) but still, an awesome series.
D of D arc was O.K.
But yeah, I'm pushing for a look at Fist of the North Star.
Hell, I'll do it, if I have to.

as for cursing, fuck those prudes that don't like it, fuck them right in the dingleberry factory
Spoilers - honestly, I don't like anime enough to really care.. It's one of the things that I enjoy watching videos about.. I liked Suede, and I guess you're the replacement, so I'm giving you a trial like everyone else.
Restricted Manga - yeah, there's some really messed up stuff that probably wouldn't fly on BlipTV even :P
Suggestion - I know it's Blasé, but the original Dragon Ball is something that a lot of people that don't know - it wasn't released in america for a long time, and I didn't see it until about a year ago..
whatever though, welcome to the site, can't wait to see more..
A word of Advice - get a good camera for yourself.. because you will want to make appearances like this - even Yahtzee Croshaw steps infront of the camera once in a while :P

03.28.2009 - 13:12 | DreamerWell, for my suggestions, I have some delightfully obscure ones:
Iron Wok Jan- The only manga to make cooking AWESOME. Basically, it's Iron Chef cranked up to 11.
Ultimate Muscle- Because I liked the show and the weird-ass wrestlers therein as a kid
GeGeGe No Kitaro- Very little of it has been translated, and none has been scanlated, but sicne this is the iconic francise that popularised Yokai in Japan, you should check it out
Franken Fran- A really screwed up horror manga revolving a lot around body horror. It will find a nice spot in your nightmares for weeks.

Hello Nick!
After watching your videos there are two things i've gotta say:
1st. Its great to have another Manga/anime reviewer here on TGWTG now that that dude with suede has stopped making videos, kudos to you!
2nd. This is just me nitpicking but...could you try too pronounce the japanese names correctly instead of using your american accent, it just sounds so...well...strange. :pinch: Sorry for nitpicking on something as trivial as pronounciation but it was the only thing during you (otherwise great) review that stood out like a sore thumb.
Anyway, i wish you luck on your future videos!
Dreamer
