The reason why they won't do an MMO for Pokemon is because it would kill the Pokemon video game franchise and that would cause Nintendo and Game Freak to lose money.
Otherwise the Video Game Championships would become irrelevant If Game Freak made Pokemon into an MMO. They aren't going to take that chance, Pokemon is fine the way it is now at least in terms of the video games, the TCG on the other hand...

Pokemon World Online and Pokemon Universe... not one, but TWO pokemon MMO's...
... okay, they are fan made, not nintendo owned, and you don't HAVE to pay for them monthly (although they have that option for bonuses), so this was a pointless post.. but still, even if they do want every penny in your wallet, you cant blame them, i want every penny in your wallet as well, I'm just not as good at making games as they are... yet.

This video was awesome. I have read some of the Legend of Zelda mangas and enjoyed them greatly (Only OOT and the Oracle ones because those are thee only ones based on games I have played). They take a lot of liberties but it makes for some great stories, especially since it gets rid of the monotony of dungeons. The only other one I have read is Pokemon Adventures (or Pokemon Special as it is known in Japan) and IT IS AWESOME. Seriously it the best thing in the Pokemon franchise outside of the games and has such amazing character development, great fights, a well developed world, a real sense of danger, and an author that can predict the future (Rhydon having an evolution that wouldn't appear until generation IV being mentioned in generation II I'm looking at you). All in all I hope you do revisit Pokemon Adventures for a full review because it deserves. Never before has Pokemon been so badass.

08.31.2011 - 01:59 | MarthMore Other M bitching? Yes, I agree it had some problems with the writing, but man, It's getting treated like it's the worst game on earth. I could argue about every singly aspect people are complaining about, but actually I’m tired of it.
Don’t get me wrong though, I enjoyed the video. To bad the Metroid Manga wasn’t officially released in English, or was it? I know, you can find it on the internet (which I did years ago), but I’d like to actually own one copy.

I'm pretty sure, since the manga introduces Adam Malkovich before the games do, that the manga is considered canon, as many if not all of it's story elements fit into the series like a glove.
That and it's WORLDS better written, to the point where I'm not really sure why Nintendo decided to go with the half Fusion/half manga storyline they did in Other M instead of just adapting the manga's already decent story.
Also, I'm kinda surprised you never mentioned the Wind Waker manga, it never has Link speak but it's awesomely hilarious and well worth reading.

For your question, How about a FLCL meets No More Heros series. I really just want to see a Haruko v.s. Shinobu fight for some weird reason...

Has Nintendo even released an MMO at all? I mean, I remember there were some rumors about an Animal Crossing MMO in 2008, but that was canned a long time ago. And a quick Google search for nintendo first party mmo doesn't seem to have any results.
I don't think Nintendo can create an MMO with their current design philosophy and system. Though I do admit that Pokemon would be perfect for it, as you have a built in way for there to be multiple player characters.

This is my first Y: Ruler of Time vid, and I have to tell ya: it's a great vid. I guess it's because I have never gotten around to the manga you've read, or I might not have them. All I have is all of FLCL (the first version), Cowboy Bebop, Street Fighter III, and the first story arc of Naruto (I have to check if you've reviewed those. I did want to get into Lupin, but man, that's a lot of books).
Having said that, I have read a few of the Zelda mangas, and I enjoyed them.
But, I guess my real comment goes toward the Mario manga. It got me to thinking: would you consider Super Mario Adventures (the Nintendo Power series in 1991-1992) a manga? It was drawn by Japanese manga artists and written by manga writers, but it's read left to right, and it's much bigger. I'd like to see your thoughts on that (and maybe even the Link to the Past comic), since I enjoyed them both.
Thanks again for the vid.

That was actually drawn by Shotaro Ishinomori; one of Osamu "God of Manga" Tezuka's DISCIPLES!
Yes, as in this man was taught the art of manga DIRECTLY by the man that is considered the GOD of manga! The manga equivalent of seeking a reclusive master in the mountains to learn a martial art.
http://en.wikipedia.org/ wiki/Shotaro_Ishinomori
He did the Zelda manga 6 years before he passed away in 1998. If you have a copy or can get your hands on it, then you have an authentic piece of manga history, and a real valuable item!

Bad news. Viz has no plans on making the third gen chapters (volumes 15-29) available in English. However, they have implied they'll think about it if enough people asked.
E-mail Viz to make them change their minds, or be ready for the massive spoilers and plot holes in the volumes they've skipped ahead to!

About Other M, I actually didn't have any problems with it at all (I LOVED the game) mostly BECAUSE I had read the manga before. Samus' emotional involvements and signs of PTSD made perfect sense since I had been primed before hand with that book. It should have been packaged with the game...
As for the timing, I think the moment she meets Ridley in Other M is probably the next best time to trigger her PTSD than first seeing him because she knows the space pirates are supposed to be gone. She's fought him and beat him and the space pirates either rebuilt him as a cyborg or simply cloned him back before, but THIS time the space pirates aren't there to do it, it shouldn't have been possible yet he was there again. To Samus this would have briefly made him look less like an enemy and more like some kind of malevolent immortal spirit that would always find a way back, denying her her revenge and any kind of closure. At least that's how I interpret it.

Metroid Fusion did a good job at giving Samus a voice, albeit, it was through an internal monologue and I really didn't hate Malkovich by the end of it. Anyway, I'm going to have to hunt down that metroid manga, I've been meaning to read it.
Even some of the Zelda manga before Ocarina of time are pretty good, I spent a month some years ago reading everything up to the four sword adventure, and I'm pretty disappointed a Twilight Princess manga didn't turn up.
Ah pokemon adventure, I don't know how I entered this video and didn't expect to hear about it, but it has become one of my favorite series. I love they way it tells the story with that JJBA style, and its characters have been some of the most badass characters I've ever seen.

One would think that Pokemon Adventures is succesful because there is that unsatisfying anime to compare it with, but I think the main characters support the manga pretty well on their own.
Ok, let's see, first we have Red who, out of the top of my head, systematically took over Safari Zone over the span of 24 hours.
There is Yellow, who got all the way to Lance with completely unevolved pokemon including a rattata.
There is Crystal, who is worldy renown for catching everything that moves whether it's nailed to the floor, on fire, or a combination of both with her HANDS TIED TO HER BACK. Mind you, that is not an expression, that is actually her specialty-- that and kicking pokeballs at ludicrous speed with martial arts.
I could go on, but they make even higher achievements on top of those later on, so it could get lengthy.
Fun review. I've also got to read a couple Fire Emblem mangas. From which I'd only recommend The Genealogy of the Holy War, because it builds up on the story rather than just telling it. And you can bet it's a pretty damn good story, or it wouldn't be the fan favorite of the series. Though I heard there are two mangas about it out there...

I definitely remember the Pokemon manga when I was younger. My cousin had plenty of them and you're right, some of the fights are more violent than the TV series. I mean, I saw a Charizard maul another Charizard like a bad habit.
I definitely want a One Piece/Batman crossover. That is epic win for me because I love One Piece and Batman altogether.
-
For the absolute longest time I thought this crossover would make the most sense for its art, violence, characters, and comedic appeal; Monkey D Luffy meets Popeye. Take a moment to realize the epic battle between these two natural enemies. Popeye even fits in the One Piece universe as a navy-man. Luffy's obnoxious optimism can easily rub the cantankerous popeye the wrong way to quickly lead to an epic battle. Gear Second, Gear third, and Haki VS a can of Spinach.
That fight will have the biggest fists the world has ever seen! Who will win!? Honestly, this is not like the Goku vs Superman debate where you half to give superman slack because Goku can blow up the universe, this actually comes off as an even fight.
Apart from that; other crossovers.
the 1970s wonder woman in an episode of sailor moon
Predator hunting down the crew of the bebop
Fraser Crane as the school guidense councelor in Azumanga daioh or Cromarti Highschool
The universe of Tron in the animatrix
Madbull 34 as the new Zap Rossdower in Final Sacrifice
Rorouni Kenshin in the movie The Last samurai......mostly to kill and replace Tom Cruise as the protagonist
Jason Vorheese in Wicked city
and for the sake of clustering; kingdom hearts meets MVC with the other disney properties folded into it (including the muppets and power rangers). This will create a quantum singularity so nerdy that the population of the earth will be decimated as they are forced by every memory of childhood to play this preposterous videogame until the end of time

Kingdom Hearts meet Marvel Versus Capcom... you know, I'm going to imagine that, even if I risk going insane. When you consider all the other properties Capcom AND Marvel has crossed over with, you get Transformers (was done by Marvel), Conan the Barbarian (by Marvel) SNK (versus Capcom) the sentai superheroes of Tatsunoko (versus Capcom), the universes of Namco like Tekken, Klonoa and Tales of (because of Capcom again), Nippon Ichi and Gust (Capcom crossed over with those companies once) G.I Joe (also by Marvel)... and that's just one side.
Square-Enix and Disney? Disney Channel has the rights to air Naruto, meaning cross-overs with Shonen Jump and THEIR trademarks like One Piece, DBZ, BLEACH, Yu Yu Hakusho are possible- and remember Roger Rabbit, we can get Warner Bros involved too! Square-Enix owns a manga magazine called Gangan Comics which print Fullmetal Alchemist, Soul Eater, Durarara, Black Butler, A Certain Magical Index...
... I can't do it anymore. This suggestion will create a cross-over so humongous, it just can't be beat. It is indeed the cross-over that will bring about the end-over.

While I blame the Legend of Zelda manga for starting the whole "Sheik is male" debacle, it's otherwise a decent condensation of the story-line... even if Volvagia going from a legendary Goron-hunting dragon to Link's childhood friend was pretty damn what the hell. The Pokemon manga I have heard many good things about, but never read... and I second what another commenter here said about the "Super Mario Adventures". I grew up on that and it is AWESOME in every single way.
As for Metroid and the baby in the room... well. I'll just say that from what I've heard Other M mostly disregards the Chozo's involvement in Samus's life from the manga, and since that was the part I liked the best I an negatively predisposed to the game already. Grey Voice was fucking awesome, and that's all I've got to say about that.

Oh noes! He misspronounced Ninja Gaiden! Haven't you seen The Wizard XD ?!
I personally own the Zelda manga of most of the games I played, and yes, they did a pretty decent job. And considering the praise this Pokemon manga gets, I might check that one out, too.
As for the crossover, how about Mobile Suit Gundam meets Battletech? That way, you can have Amuro and company have some Super Robot Wars flashbacks XD !

Nice rundown list there Y. I am actually interested in the manga you mentioned with the exception of Mario's little crack fiction.
That said, I actually do have a manga adaptation of a game - Suikoden III at 13 volumes. I like it. It is definitely high volume condensation, but I like the background she gives to the main three characters (4 if you include Thomas) and since none of them were silent to begin with it had good characters to work with from the start. With 108 playable characters this means of course that not everyone has story in the manga, but they all wind up at LEAST in the background over the course of the manga's run. It was a nice head nod, and the end of the manga is a big twist that's completely different from the game. It also has at least a 2 page reference to the previous game's continuity which made me very happy to see.
Fun episode. The only one of those i've actually read was Pokemon Adventure, but Metroid sounds great. Thanks for the recommendation =)
