That's exactly how I personally feel about Pokemon. I like the original 'Transformers' series, even though I was born in the early '90s. XD

See, I'm the opposite. I loved the original Transformers, but I don't think people who act like there wasn't a decent show after '85 are being fair at all to the franchise. Actually, I'd argue Prime is one of the stronger series they've produced.
Except when it's about Armada, Energon or Cybertron, which were pretty fucking awful.
