Quite simple, the imagination of the anime/manga authors has gone BONER LEVEL OVER 9000!!!
Seriously, it's that the only mainstream thing that they can think of!? Same ecchi/harem/school stuff over and over again!
I am starting to get convinced that most of the authors these days are some poor Forever Alone guys and this is their kind of catharsis.
I mean, I like boobs and buts just like the next guy (maybe a bit more XD) but this is the continuation of the already saturated T&A for T&A cocktease line of animes and it is no longer funny or interesting. It was great in the beginning but nowadays we just had enough.

I'm not joking. The ending credits video has the girls in this series pole dancing. Look it up on Youtube if you don't believe me.

02.15.2012 - 22:58 | ScarredtigerYou had to use censor boxes for a reason. This is gratuitous fan-service, no way around it.
Sure there's more than one type of action in this series but its pretty clear which has the most focus.
This whole season has been mostly boring and uninteresting to me.

After a rather average first episode this show slowly became one of my favorites this season because of the rather cool demons and angels concept combined with the offbeat humor (The demon contract subplots being a particularly high note. recently the first arc has come to a close but it's slowly building up a new villain which looks interesting.
Still, Symphogear is a clear favorite of mine this season. I'm a sucker for music based fights, what can I say?

lol I enjoy this series. Not just for the T&A, but for the humor that is in the series. In the third episode he goes out and tries to do a contract, but with weak he has to ride a bike to his destinations instead of teleporting, and then when he does reach the contract holder, he ends up getting into an Otaku fight over an anime/manga series. Even in the latest episode he goes out to another contract only to find out it's a very muscular man dressed up in a magical girl outfit wanting to be a magical girl, and only to instead end up watching the whole series with the guy lol.

I'm going to pass on this one, but not because of fanservice. There are animes that do pull off fanservice well, such as Freezing and Hoshizora e Kakaru Hashi. I think the best trick is to be subtle and humorous with it. Don't throw it in our face like a pie throwing contest.
This anime just doesn't seem that interesting. Essentially, this has been done before and done better...so a cancel for me.

It's an ecchi, nothing more, nothing less.
I mean, it doesn't try to fool anybody with the stripper pole dancing and the tons of fanservice.
But much like the Japanese side of things, nobody knows how the hell they're going to sell the BD/DVD's because there's been no censorship on the AT-X broadcast of it really, including the guys dick.
Unless it decides to go the Princess Lover route and creates a hentai of the series, it's going to have terrible sales, because ecchi anime that relies on only the ecchi only sell through un-censoring stuff 98% of the time..

Ecchi can actualy be done well ala Sora no Otoshimono, certainly the average ecchi features a subpar plot just to make an excuse to flash panty and booby shots.
In DxD case, as I said before it lacks a substance to balance out the given premise early on in opening episodes to give it a follow up viewing.
Basicaly the point being is that featureing "hot anime girls" isn't enough on its own.

Seriously everybody, fanservice aside, this series is actually really good. But you have to go beyond episode 1. Give or take all the way to episode 3 or 4. That's were things get really good! And get this, the chess part in the opening actually makes sense! Why? because the freaking powers of the demons are based of chess pieces!! This is how rosario vampire should have been! They never show tsukune's powers as a ghoul, but the manga does, and it's so awesome!!
But anyway, back to higschool dxd. Rias is the king, since she's the leader, but also a very powerful demon, but then you'll say: hey! isn't the king one of the weakest pieces in the game? True, the king does move like a pawn, but it can move to any place moving only once, in this case the show that Rias has the power to obliterate, or in this case to checkmate. Issei is obviously a pawn, but do you know how many pawn pieces did Rias had to use to turn him into a demon? (and yes she turns demons by using chess pieces she calls Evil Pieces) all eight pawn pieces!! It seems that Issei is a special person that possesses a certain artifact known as the Sacred Gear. It has the form of a red gauntlet, the same one you saw in the opening!! So if you want to watch the interesting stuff go beyond episode 1, it will be worth your while

03.03.2012 - 23:00 | sparkgamerI KNOW RIGHT. I'DE BE IN FUCKIN HEAVEN!!!!!!
I didn't mind the "sexy for sexiness sake" but it wasn't as absurd as say High School of the Dead.
I didn't mind the blatant aspect that there would be a potential harem appearing, but I have seen the dynamic done better with more interesting female characters.
And then the core narrative seems to be a sort of paranormal conflict going on which again I have seen in so many other anime series it just seems generic in DxD.
DxD tries alot at the get go, but doesn't seem to try to stand ahead of its peers by any means, and worst it does a ho hum job at all of the tasks.
For me, its a generic "eye candy" anime with the female seiyuu acting mildly seductive which I could find done better elsewhere.
