What gave you the idea they are women?
Personally I like the freedom of expression of the LGBT crowd depicted in anime nowadays. So many small, cute, middle-aged men in high school wearing skirts and having girl names. It's sad you can't get that in real life yet, with all this societal conservatism.

I'd agree with Semudara that this review was a bit too heavy on the summary. I guess the skit format made things a little different, but just cause it's disjoint doesn't mean you need to cover all of them.
For the bit that you did give opinion, I'd certainly agree. It's watchable, periodically funny, and just all around okay. I do think it's a little weird that you dwelled so much on it being the new four koma style comedy show when one of the absolute best shows this season has to offer is the comedy anime Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou. Personally, I'd prefer you give that one a go next rather than the decidedly average Mouretsu Pirates you hinted at.
I'll be interested to see what you give a continue this season. So far Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou is the only thing that's not a sequel which I'd really call good, with some hope held out for Another.

01.29.2012 - 00:07 | pookieyay! so glad someone brought some much deserved attention to this show. love me sum kill me baby! yeah okay the intro music kinda drills itself into your brain, but the super catchy ending music (that dance number always makes me smile) more than makes up for it. at the end of a long stressful day, sitting down and watching a bright, colorful, light, fluffy comedy like kill me baby is the perfect remedy.

I would rather Masako go right into Girls I am your Father just to disprove the phobia against the content.
As for Moretsu Pirates, that one is my favorite for non sequalized releases this season so far as narrative pacing and the fact that it doesn't always resort to fan service shots as its source name would imply.

01.29.2012 - 00:43 | therealAvatarBluesI'll stick to /real/ yonkoma based anime, like Lucky Star. Thank you very much.
(I've always wanted to say that :p)

01.29.2012 - 01:22 | Nick4xFor working with the first two episodes, you said a lot with only a little to work with, but the show really starts hitting it's groove afterwards. I think you downplayed Sonya's character flaw, seeming confused about her fear of bugs and ghosts when it's played for laughs and very humanizing. However, you still gave a very good review. Keep it up!
*Shameless Plug!* I share my views of each episode of several anime, including this one, here: http:// animetide.blogspot.com/ *End Shameless Plug!*
When it's all said and done, Kill Me Baby! is a keeper!

Am I the only one who found Kill Me Baby tedious and a bit taxing to watch?
I didn't laugh once.
When the best thing you can say about it is "well, some things are okay", chances are it's not worth continuing.
There are MUCH MUCH better anime choices this season.

I don't think I'll be watching this one.
If I wanted to watch something that's in the style
of Azumanga Daioh, I'd just watch Azumanga Daioh.
Or Excel Saga.
The animation and art style just doesn't look too
appealing, and while I'm not saying that a simple
style is bad, it just, there's too much that just
clashes and makes the entire thing as a whole look
cheap. Especially compared to the shows its trying to emulate.

01.29.2012 - 03:34 | TrencherMeh looks mildly amusing to die hard anime fans but seems like a waste of animators to me.

01.29.2012 - 07:22 | kingkirbyMy favorite JC staff stuff is still their late 90s/early 2000s shows. Slayers, Orphen, Excel Saga, Revolutionary Girl Utena... They will always hold a special place in my heart

I think I'll pass on this one. While I thought Lucky Star was hilarious, this...just from seeing the clips and hearing your analysis, it just doesn't seem very interesting. We already saw a bat shit mix of characters last year with a zombie, a magical girl, a necromancer and a vampire ninja team up in Kore Wa Zombie-desu ka? So, the mash up of character variety doesn't even seem unique anymore.
I want to know when you're going to review Another. That anime seems fricking brilliant!

Oh dear God....THIS show. The first time I heard about it was when I overheard the theme song playing on my friend's laptop. I proceeded to stare at his screen throughout the entire intro, with an expression on my face best described as "confusedly intrigued." To be honest, your review makes it seem a lot more dull and slow than the intro suggests.

I have been a long-time fan of the manga, which is really extremely funny. I think the show's first two episodes are not that great though, but things really pick up after that,
The ED is absolutely hilarious, with a nice 80s style electro tune, and I was pleased to see that they copied the dance routine straight from the manga.
I do think that the animation quality could have been a bit better, though.
BTW, this is a bit of a pet peeve of mine, but could you please try to work on your Japanese pronunciation a bit? For instance, Oribe is pronounced more like "Oh-Ree-Buh", not "Oh-Ree-Bay". Details like these matter.

Ribbing aside, good review! It felt like you gave this series a fair shake, although I really would have liked less plot summary and more analysis. I barely got a feel for what you actually thought of it.
