According to Suede, the video was simply too large for Blip, and didn't upload properly. He is going to have to upload in two parts. Hopefully when that's done, this will be re-linked and re-uploaded so that we can watch the rest of the ninja madness!

Busting out a title card for a 5 minute (that when it just cuts out for me) lets play. Interesting choice.
When you get to level 3 I demand tons of Swat 4 jokes.
If Naruto isn't a ninja then Ryu is also not a ninja. They both run head first into combat and they both can perform super powerful magic.
And Ryu is in modern times and he is in Japan. At least according to Ninja Gaiden 2 for Xbox 360.

03.02.2012 - 17:22 | JunkWatcherNaruto isn't no ninja because he "run head first into combat and can perform super powerful magic". Naruto isn't a ninja, because he is a whiny little idiot with ADHD, who wears an orange jumpsuit, doesn't grow up, thinks he's more than he actually is, has a stupid catchphrase and never shuts the fuck up.
Ryu is quiet, calm, collected, in control, honorable, smart, dark, strong and badass. He doesn't need to change into a naked girl or the power of some demon fox to defeat his opponents. He uses his speed, agility and skill which he gained over years of intense training.
Seriously, never say again that Ryu Hayabusa and Naruto are the same. Heck, don't even think it. It's insulting.

pause and duck...
They're not the same no. I like the development Naruto has gotten since his whiny days, which is one of the major strengths of that series. To say that he never grows sounds so unreal to me. To say that he needs the power of the ninetails to beat his opponents is to throw away arcs of story where he learns through intense training to stand on his own two feet, using speed agility skill and wit to beat his opponents (see what I just did there). But I'm not going to defend naruto here, I don't like the series enough for that, so go right ahead and bash it. I find it funny that it feels insulting to you to put naruto and ryu on the same level. (not trying to be condesending here, it just honestly amuses me, that's all)
I think Suede hit the nail on the head when he says the word ninja doesn't mean the same in the world of Naruto as it does in ours. Everyone who works under the job system of the villages is a ninja. It differentiates them from people who don't work under the system, like the samurai and people who work directly under the lords and stuff.
The original ninja gaiden games take place in the modern day. Ryu travels to America to find the man who killed his father, which he keeps whining about all the time too. But since the cutscenes are short and spread over the game. During gameplay he doesn't talk, giving the impression that he is silent when he's not.
I haven't played any of the new ninja gaiden games, though I should, so I can't say anything about that.
Tl;dr
Haha lol yes they are

Well, I haven't seen enough of the show to know how much Naruto changes over time (I'd have to see the entire show for it), but every trustworthy anime source says the same thing: he doesn't change much. By the end of the series he's no step closer of becoming hokage than he was at the beginning.
"To say that he needs the power of the ninetails to beat his opponents is to throw away arcs of story where he learns through intense training to stand on his own two feet, using speed agility skill and wit to beat his opponents (see what I just did there)."
Oh, I see what you did there ;).
But no, I said YEARS of intense training, not one day of getting beaten up and then miraculously finding the strength to get back up and fight back.
And really, has he ever beaten anyone important without his fox powers? (and I do kinda mean that as a serious question)
"I find it funny that it feels insulting to you to put naruto and ryu on the same level. (not trying to be condesending here, it just honestly amuses me)"
Don't worry, no offense taken, I've been there as well ;P
But haven't you ever had this happen to you? Where someone compared something you love with something you hate like there the same thing, while you see them as total opposites. Let me know, I'm curious.
"I think Suede hit the nail on the head when he says the word ninja doesn't mean the same in the world of Naruto as it does in ours."
I see what you mean, but in that case Ryu and Naruto wouldn't even be comparable to begin with. So, I don't know, it seems a little far fetched for me. *shrug*
"Ryu travels to America to find the man who killed his father, which he keeps whining about all the time too."
Where exactly does he whine about it? In the original game Ryu investigates why his father was murdered and when he finds out, he finishes what his father started. He never starts whining about it. He's just doing his duty as a ninja: revenge his father and save the world by kicking demon ass and taking names.
"During gameplay he doesn't talk, giving the impression that he is silent when he's not."
By 'quiet' I didn't mean he doesn't talk ever. I meant that he doesn't go screaming "I did it! I did it! Believe it! I'm a ninja! Ninja! Ninja!".

To quote Big Macintosh, EEYUP! I'm glad I'm not the only person to see that character for what he really is.
