Good choice for the first anime review. You were reviewing it in a very good way, you looked at what was awkward, but used that to determine what it is and why its awesome. I have never seen Trigun, but this gives me all the more reason to. I feel mad though because I KNOW what the spoiler is, my friends told me, I'll murder them later...(jk).

Trigun, for me, was a series that had a lot of things going for it, but I felt it fell flat. I had a truly kick ass premise; a wandering disaster wandering for redemption. This concept led me to draw a parallel to Kenshin. Kenshin was a wandering samurai, who sought redemption for the lives that he had taken. Sure the settings are different, but essentially the protagonists are the same bumbling pacifists. The general story arcs are very similar also; each character must stop a certain villain; Shishio Mokoto in the case of Kenshin, and Millions Knives in Trigun. Even main villian's highly trained squad are very similar, the Gung Ho Guns, and the Juppongatana. For each charecter, the closer that they get to their face off with the main villian, the more they realize that it is very likely that they will have to abandon their vow/morals and kill him.
Maybe this is me just over analyzing things, but I just couldn't help noticing these things. I'm sure that I'll be flamed for this, but before you do so, think about what I've said. Thanks, and good night.
On another note, Anime Heaven is turning out to be a very good addition to TGWTG, good review, and hope to see more soon.

You hooked me at your AMV Animenia episode. Dare say I was very interested in you during your theme song countdown, but it was your look into the multimedia Russian roulette of AMVs that made me say "This guy is different. I like him." I was more or less satisfied with AMV Heaven, though I felt it didn't show case anything. Perhaps a more detailed review, but regardless I watched it a few times. I watched your Hair showcase with good humor, but it's this video sir, this video that cements you in my own opinion as one of the best.
I came into this thinking "Meh, I've never seen Trigun, so I can't imagine much of this..." See I didn't even get time to finish that thought before you wowed me. Everyone takes pot shots at their fans, but they way you did it was humorous. I laughed at the curtains bit, but I appreciated, respected, and revered the rest of it. I can't quite put into words how much I enjoyed it because it was original. Your fear seemed to be becoming a rip off, but nothing about this makes me say "He's just Doug but doing those shows with the spiky hair kids and the well endowed high school girls". You sir are original, and I applaud you on that.
Everything about this review felt right to me. I never watched Trigun, but now I really want to see it. Now, in all honesty every Benzaie video has made me want to play the game he features (ironically enough my main articles are showcases. ...there's irony in there somewhere), so perhaps my new perspective means nothing to you, but let me tell you this: I am a SHONEN WHORE! I have read nothing but One Piece and Bleach manga because I'm a fight junkie, and besides Deathnote I can safely say I've never read a manga that appealed to the mind (Well I guess Doubt... but we all know that's not going to have a satisfying ending). To make me want to see this show is an achievement, even if you don't know, so for that I thank you.
But it's not just the promotion, it's the entertainment. As I said, I respected AMV Heaven, and I became a fan with the first Animenia, but this catapulted me to a new level of appreciation because your humor is fresh and different. People will always say "This is a ripoff of that, and that's a ripoff of that", and perhaps it's my ignorance of the newly created internet review system, but you are original. Anyone can review anime... -anyone-, but you do it well. I don't know if you've read my topic in your board of the forum, but you truly are the Fraiser of this site.
Trust me, that's a compliment.
You don't use cheap gags or swear words to appeal to fans (not that anyone does, but it's a common crutch we see in comedy), but rather it's timing and spot on delivering. People who call you a rip off can't see passed: Doug - Television/Movies and James - Video Games. You have a fantastic wit, whimsical diction, and overall just an amazing ability to sell your work. I'm overly impre...

Hey DIS great beginning anime review. Can you do Neon Genesis Evangelion and the movies or maybe Death Note. Those two are my favorites and I would love to see a review on them.

I don't give a crap if you're similar to the other reviewers; it gives us another person to watch and enjoy! Um... that came out weird...
Anyway, I already started Death Note because of your mention of it in the top 11 anime openings (and you were right about it being surprisingly good, minus the first opening). Now I have to add Trigun. Good thing I found an anime website. :P
Keep up the great work TDITS! :D

I don't wish to seem ignorant or stereotypical, but I keep hearing people who are British or Australian put "er" at the end of words that end in "a" (e.g. stigma). Is there something I'm missing or is it just a habit?

I remember watching a few episodes of Trigun back in the day and I really enjoyed them. Nice review; you're really improving.
