I don't think I've ever seen such awesome costumes before. That must have been really great to see in person. I wasn't surprised that they had tickets to it though. Most of the big events at my local convention (Sakura Con in Seattle) have tickets and it's a pretty small con. Though they are used to designate seating rather than whether or not you get in.
I can't believe there are still people who play The Game. The fact that they're playing it wrong is pretty telling IMO.
Thanks for sharing this with us. I'm glad you had such a great time. Can't wait for more videos from you Marz.

I'm the BLU Engineer looking at the camera at 9:03!
I had no idea you'd be at Expo - I just remember thinking 'Is that Marzgurl?'. I really wish I'd gone over and said something, but my Team Fortress group were about to have a dance off, so I didn't have time.
Fantastic video, hope to see you at future events!

No, you are not the only one who thinks it's lame. To be perfectly honest I'm not even sure why they have this event, wrestling never really caught on in this country.
Ah! I'm glad you got some footage of Fatkraken werewolf suit from the event, I couldn't get into it in time to see her. I saw her win the qualifying match at Amecon10 and wanted to see how she did at Expo.
Feel free to visit Britain again~ Glad you had a good time.
The rain probably followed you from London XD

"Stop with the stupid signs! It's dumb and it's wrong!"
*angry face*
"And it's not funny..."
I laughed so hard at that. I understand how you feel about the frisking. I had my first full body scan at the San Antonio airport over Thanksgiving. Not a very pleasant feeling...
The least they could do is buy me dinner first.

12.02.2010 - 08:22 | TrencherGreat travel log. What arcade did not allow you to have the camera out? Probably the guys working there use the area for illegal deals.

Actually there are some conventions over here in California that do the wrist band thing.
There is Sac-con in . . . Sacramento of coarse ^^;, and a few other small one day cons, and there are even some that do a combination of the wrist band AND Badge like Yaoi-con. This is the first time I have heard of a big can like this JUST doing wrist bands. Sounds cool and a whole lot more easier for when the cosplayers are having their picture taken. I know that I get annoyed whenever I forget to ask the cosplayer that I'm taking a picture of to take off or hide their badge and it gets into the shot. Wrist band sounds easier.
As for the tickets to get into the cosplay event . . . there are a few big cons that do that. San Diego Comic-con and so dose . . . AX (even though they tried to CHARGE for the tickets this year, seriously WTF! I'm sorry I have issues with AX >_

Apparently it only posted part of my comment DX
Anyway, As far as I could tell from the video, there is only one cosplay event that I have been to that even come close to the level of detail and production value and organization that this went through and that is Comic-con in San Diego. Sakura-con came close but not quite.
But this makes me want to go to this con ^^;.
And about the losing the game thing, just tell them you won the game and returned it to GameStop for Marvle vs. Capcom 3 :3

12.02.2010 - 15:43 | sturmovikLooks like a fun time (except for the typically English weather), but it's still just a massive event designed to separate you from your money. You should go to the sorts of conferences that your employer pays for you to attend where the tables are turned and you become the one that the vendors try to woo because you might get your employer to buy weapons system.
I recently mooched a trip to this big Geospacial Intelligence conference down in New Orleans and on the last day they frikin rented out the Superdome for a massive party with all the food you could eat and beer alcohol you could vomit. Let me say that again, THEY RENTED THE SUPERDOME for MY entertainment. Yeah, well, that's why I don't go to Cons any more.
So remember...
Con: Meh
Symposium: Ok
Convention: Sweet
Conference: WOO HOO

People misplaying the game can be annoying, but the rant was kind of off-putting and out of nowhere. O_o And it scared me a bit.
The coverage of the cosplay competition was great and detailed, though I wish I could've heard more of the performances for myself instead of just being told what was happening. Still, the visuals and detail the contestants put into each piece is obvious despite the informal recording. Also, on ThinkGeek.com there's a neat little portable battery that can give a charge to most anything, including a video recorder. It's the size of an average key chain and is nifty for tough spots like the one you were in.
Congrats on doing great in the DDR competition. =) I admit that a lot of other reviewers who were at the con already commented on this, and I know it takes forever to get back, edit and work the video, and then post it, but it is odd to see over a month after it happened and the time lapse makes it somewhat older and less interesting. What made this video and its predecessor were the informal recordings of your travels, both humorous and sympathetic to me since I've been in your shoes way too often before. ^^'' I hope the off-putting airports and travel conditions don't keep you from going to other cons; the coverage, while somewhat dated, was still a lot of fun to watch.

12.02.2010 - 20:31 | BubblesNot surprised so many people recognized you, your just that awesome^^

Looks like a great time. Sorry to hear about the "frisking". It makes no sense to go through the scanners if they're going to "frisk" you anyway. With the crazy people thinking up new security at the airports I'm surprised somebody didn't see you filming yourself and be like "OMG TERRIST! HER HAIR IS BLUE HER HAIR IS BLUE! GAME OVER MAN GAME OVER!"
