an animation network? I totally want in on this!
I mean, sure anime is my passion, but it was animation from all over the globe that got me into animation in the first place. One of the very first cartoons I remember watching was The Littl' Bits, (Japan) but I was also watching David the gnome (Spain) at the time! and shortly after that I watched The Adventures of Tintin (France/Belgium) and I'm sure that there were American-made shows around at the time as well.
So even if anime was my introduction to animation (unlike people who get into anime when they hit high school/collage) I still like animation from all over the world :D

11.07.2012 - 19:12 | Bradman1978I wouldn't mine doing retro cartoon reviews. Mind I have no training in anything like writing and film... I'd love to do the series of the awesome of the 80's and the tide in commercialism

I know you don't put out the volume of videos that some producers do, but I always enjoy seeing your work ^^ I was enjoying your ANE segments for example.
You know, I think it took a while even for the Nostalgia Chick to get into the groove. I didn't really enjoy her stuff so much until Nella and Lisa started getting involved in them.
I don't comment too terribly often but I'm glad to see you still around. If it's an animation slant you want to go with I'd love to help if I could ^_^
I sent a couple friend requests so I hope we can talk some time.
Why not just call your show "Marzgurl Reviews" or if it's something quick "Marzgurl Shorts"
I did note the different style changes. Funny thing is your hair reminds me of my Sonic avatar XD... anyway that was an insightful commentary, keep up the good work :)

11.07.2012 - 21:06 | Jrushlo1You really have to talk to Mike about that animation web site. I would like a good place to submit animations I made in like a blog.I'm sure many users have the same problem as me too.
-
11.07.2012 - 22:12 | DMasterWho knows? Maybe you could work to get Inked Reality its own site, and work off of that?
-
11.07.2012 - 21:06 | EmperorSamI actually like your voice. And again, I think you are way too hard on yourself. You are such a great addition to tgwtg, Marzgurl, and I support you whole-heartedly.

I really like that concept and the idea of the Animation network. It'd be a good thing, and I would watch it.
As for your niche, in reviewing and looking deeper at animation, I think that, if you're not already planning it or can fit it in, look at the other works of Rankin-Bass. They did a lot of animation, and some of it was wonderful and great, some of it was rather shoddy, and they did both 2-D animation, and the old style claymation. It'd be a good Christmas Project to look at their Christmas specials and discuss those, at least.
-
11.07.2012 - 22:27 | Moreno XA show about animation would be a great concept, and a network about cartoons - whether CGI, hand-drawn, claymation, stop-motion, etc - is every fan of animation dream come true.
Marzgurl, please, don't be too hard on yourself. I like your old work, including your anime reviews (Anime News Editorial series). I was looking forward if you would do a ANE video about a recent news of Saban Group got back the rights of the Digimon dub series and are planning to dub Digimon Fusion (Xros Wars).
Anyway, again, don't jump to conclusions. You are an important addition to the CA/TGWTG site and, for me since I joined the site back in 2010, I started to like your work and I have NO problem with your voice and such. Some morons just don't know what to comment about your work.
Thanks for the commentary and I'll look forward of this Animation Network project you're going to do.

11.07.2012 - 22:55 | optimisticaudienceYou made a comment saying you don't like how you sound in this. To me, you just sounded nervous. If you look at your more recent videos, you sound a lot more confident and it really shows just how far you've come. It's just something I noticed, but you sound far better now.
Also I totally would watch an animation themed Marzgurl channel.

Huh? There's nothing wrong with your voice. You just sounded really unnatural. And you've gotten better, so gradually that I hadn't noticed.
So I wasn't expecting a Nash-style review where you criticize your mistakes. You always seem so chipper in reviews. I think it's almost going too far. Don't be so hard on yourself, hon. If you weren't good, people wouldn't watch you.
-
I agree, first, that you should stop being so hard on yourself.
I also agree that a network all about animation would make me fanboy the hell out.
I also also agree that there should be more animation critics.
Good news for me is that my hardware issues are clearing up, which means that I can resume my old animation review show. I'm excited to return.

A cartoon/animation review network would be AWESOME. It should totally happen!
And yet more agreement that you shouldn't be so harsh on yourself, past or present!
Creators, artists and performers alike do get those "old shame" moments when we look back at our early work, but just look at how far you've come. And those of us that have been watching since the early stuff, well we obviously saw some endearing qualities in it!
I'll be looking forward to more!

This was a really good commentary, but there are a couple things you mentioned that I would like to put my 2 cents into:
1) the author not getting any money from the movie's profit~
I was recently informed that LucasFilm had a dvd release on their website where the $ does indeed go to him but only when someone buys it from the website~good information for the fans of the franchise/_/
2) reviewers rarely talk about animation as a whole~
sorry I'm taking this opportunity for self-advertising but I think you'll like this~I'll soon be starting 2 review series: 1st)involving online art 2nd)animation~I won't be starting the animation series until around Christmas 'cause I need to get ahead of the game in school and no one has done a web series before about online artwork so I really want to get that out there~I will be posting it on blip.tv & a few other sites so if yu get some free time next week please look me up Hope to hear from ya, GingerBohemian

11.08.2012 - 02:00 | domanaheh if i had a camera i'd work on an animation review show myself. not just anime but all animation so i'd join you in your site :D. as it stands i would probably have to just do voice overs and stuff like that like CR did at the beginning

11.08.2012 - 04:00 | FlintTDI really loved your jumpsuit. Most people hate jumpsuits, but I just think they are far cooler than they have any right to be.

Animation network? I know Animation Magazine is my go to for animation related news but it would be cool to see a batch of animation related reviewers.
(I always thought of making reviews based off preschool cartoons and talk about which are beneficial and which are pure garbage).
I know that the author and director of The Last Unicorn was at Otakon recently. I went to a panel where they provided commentary over the movie.

11.08.2012 - 12:01 | pkingdomReviews focused on Western Animation sound like a great idea. No one else is really doing anything like that.
And your voice is fine.

You know, I don't really know why it never occurred to me that animation in general was your niche. Now that I think about it... yeah, that's it all right. And the thing is, that's what I'm into, too, so I really should have put that together. So yes, I think you should pursue that idea of getting animation reviewers together. I'd volunteer for it myself if you had any reason to believe I was good at it.

MarzGurl, I feel quite happy seeing how you grew with the years and evolved. Yeah sure, you're not the big first row star of the site, but I notice the hard work you put into "growing", expanding and improving your skills, trying to find your thing.... So for that I keep watching you and hope to see more from you :)
Thanks for the commentary.
