Wait Wait.. hold on! Dinosaurs lived in the great valley prior to the first movie? Also were did Grampa hear such a story. I mean was it from a dinosaur that has always lived in the Great Valley? So his grandpa lived in the great valley, (probably means that grandpa lived in the great valley) yet why did grandpa leave the great valley? I don't understand..

03.15.2011 - 22:22 | Fuzzy NecromancerAh, yes. This is right where I gave up on the series.
Also, if you fast-forward through the pointless songs, the movies in this franchise are about a half-hour long.

I gave up on seeing if the sequels would progress after seeing your review of the 2nd film.
I wonder that in the ending credits, we would see that The Lone Dinosaur is called "The Looooooooooone Dinosaur."
4:43- In speaking of westerns, I wonder if that old movie with cowboys and dinosaurs are better than this one.
Man, this film is lazyer that Homer Simpson.
11:03- SPACE!?!?!? Oh crap, this series is going the same route as the Leprechan film series.
-
03.16.2011 - 00:17 | BagOfMagicFoodLooks like these movies are evolving into how Linkara characterized the Monitors:
"We should do something!"
"Should we do something?"
"We should do something!"
"Should we do something?"
I started watching that "Stone of Cold Fire" one on Cartoon Network once, but got bored early on because it was so obvious they only had about a half-hour's worth of story material that got padded to near-feature length. The adults kept talking about whether to investigate the "stone of cold fire" without really explaining what that means, and the kids kept singing stupid songs about basic concepts, and I just wanted them to show what the stone of cold fire was already!

Do you think that maybe Saurus Rock was the "Rock that looked like a Long-neck" mentioned in the first movie? If it is, the Dino-kids ventured quite a distance away from the great valley (but they should already know the way there, and back).
If its not the Landmark from Movie 1, then that just means that there are two improbably shaped long-neck rocks, in roughly the same vicinity. Maybe in the Jurassic period, the earthquakes frequently showed off it's creativity by sculpting other dinosaurs like three-horns, or sharp-tooths from the primal earth as well.

03.15.2011 - 22:56 | orin3721As much as I hate to admit it, I actually kinda enjoy the 7th LBT movie... yes, there are dinasaurs from space. Yes, there is a mystical plot that is never explained. And YES, Michael York is in it. But I always loved the character of Pterano who is introduced in that movie (never to return, of course). Guilty pleasure, I must say. It comes from growing up with the series, I guess.

I'm in a bit of a similar mind about the next one as well orin3721. I watched up to number 12 (I don't know what was wrong with me) and remembered there being a bunch of quite bad ones, the 6th here being one of them.
However, I remember liking the 7th one a bit more than most of the other sequels. Not to say that it's good, but I don't remember it being quite as bad as others and it had some charm. If nothing else, I actually like the space dinos a bit and I remember them having one of the only songs I liked in the entire series.
Nonetheless, good review Marzgurl, as all of them have been. I know that you can get through all of these movies. Still, prepare yourself. If my memory serves, the worst movie is yet to come, unless the 13th or 14th are worse than the 9th. Keep up the good work!

Aww...I don't think this one was any worse than the last movie.
1. Well at least they tried to make a bad-ass character out of Doc. But yes the major emphasis on his name is kinda annoying.
2. Never could figure out the Aunt Cera thing.
3. Major plot-hole to the story is true.
4. I would get you not liking that one song, but I take it you hate all forms of western?
5. I'm trying to think of a way to convey how Littlefoot wanting to be like someone else but should look up to others...I give up!!!
...yeah I'll come back when I find a better way to wording this.

I'm glad you're doing all these! I think I stopped after movie 4 or 5 when I was younger, and I'd seen bits and pieces of the ones after, but definitely not to where they are now. So I'm excited to see what the series came up with next and what you have to say about it! Dinosaurs from space huh? I also hear Cera's dad has a love interest in a later episode, who may or may not have been Cera's mother??? SCANDAL!!!

Oh, this movie is just rotten. My roomie's kids loved it though, so I've seen it a few times. One thing that really annoyed me that you didn't touch was Ducky's explanation that she can understand twinspeak because she herself is a twin, or rather one of (I forget the number, but let's just say five... it was some number that "twins" don't come in) five twins. As if that line weren't stupid enough, Cera hatched with several sisters as well if you watched the first movie (which I don't think these writers ever did)... so it doesn't even make sense. But hey, if you were to point out every stupid line and continuity error in these films, your videos would be as long as the films themselves.
Another enjoyable video MarzGurl... I like this series (your series -- not theirs!).

Oh dear lord...this is where they REALLY started going downhill.
I mean, the sequels before this one were pretty awful and mediocre, but at least they had some kind of PURPOSE. At least there was a MORAL.
However bad the previous sequels were, I could find at least something I liked about them. Some small bit, like Littlefoot's song about his mother.
With this? Nothing. There is nothing uplifting or redeeming about this in the slightest.
And is it just me (I seriously might just be imagining this) but are Littlefoot's eyelashes getting longer as the movies go on? That was just something I noticed. It feels like his eyelashes are weirdly longer in this movie.

See, this movie actually makes perfect sense. I've come to the conclusion that Dinosaurs are actually immortal in the same way Time Lords are; they can liver practically forever, barring accidents! They also age at a considerably slower rater! This is how The Longer Ranger - I mean - Dinosaur can still be alive, despite his age, and also why Little Foot and gang haven't aged in however many decades this stuff has been going on!
THE FRIDGE TOLD ME!!!!! *Weeps into time vortex*
---------Edit---------
This is why I should finishing typing something when I start, and not get distracted and finish it later.

Why did they make so many of these? Were people actually buying them despite being utter crap time and time again? 2 was enough for me to quit the series, and declare that it has no sequels (same for Neverending Story).
Why? That's my only question, why?
I'm sure you've answered this in maybe the first video, but a re-cap may be in order. A look at how the hell this kept going for 12, 13, 14 movies, is it?

I'm a land before time fan, bit one (first movie only pretty much of course like everyone else) but I still have all the other movies, I just like collecting things that I like, even if its horrible sequels. From what I could scrape form this one, it was the moral is "Bad luck is only what you make it out to be and doesn't really exist", and "Look after your younger siblings, since they are stupider than you and will take everything very literally, you need to be a good role model so they don't end up being eaten by big sharpteeth", but that is pushing it
