This song... shall be stuck in my head for WEEKS! XD

as a hardcore gundam fan, i have been rewatching all of these series. I wish they add turn A gundam.
• Balesirion
Unfortunately, Turn A has never been licensed, and it's rather doubtful that it ever will be.

I hafta admit, I practically jumped up and down in my chair when I heard 08MS. But aside from that, I didn't really have a big Gundam heart; it was just one of those really popular series I never got into. Maybe now that it's out for free, I'll give it a second chance.

And cool musical number, MG. ^^ I liked where they had to push you along, but you never told us what the original lyrics were.

08th MS team is by far the most amazing gundam series ever... in my opinion
• Neo Ultra Mike
You can go to other sites to find out the lyrics to Gundam 0083. This wasn't really about that.

Truthfully I'm not the biggest Gundam fan myself (the only gundam series I got into were Gundam Wing and SD Gundam) but this is great news for fans of classic gundam which I'm sure there are tons of online.

Nice singing too for the opening parody. Marzgirl has good vocals and actually the whole parody should be sort of it's own occasionally updated series. You know like how that Guy with the glasses has "Songs that don't have lyrics but I added them anyway", Marzgirl should have an "The Lyrics to Anime Openings Before I learned how to read Japanese" or something like that.

Zeta Gundam's story telling is a corner stone on how future anime series aproach sci fi material with a more serious focus.
The first Gundam series simply brought several concepts such as complex characters and a relatively more realistic touch in a world of giant robots while Zeta Gundam is the execution of these concepts.
Several art concepts were also brought forth in Zeta Gundam such as the full visual cockpit in the pilot seat, something anime fans might be familiar from say Evangelion.
Other reason's why I love Zeta Gundam is the lost art of hand drawn animation, Zeta's art style in comparison to the first Gundam series is less of a "cartoony" feel overall and is more recognizable in the anime of today.

08th MS team is the best of the Gundam series. Love the flashy Wing Zero and GP units in the ACE and Gundam vs games but I really want to see some more light shine on those adorable RX-79 Ground Gundams. Hey looky here, a Gundam that actually WALKS! It uses its legs! Thank god they are not streaming Seed... Are they?
• Quantum Wolf
avatar
From the sounds of it, they'll just be streaming the UC stuff, most likely in anticipation of the also-UC Gundam Unicorn.

So, sorry, it seems no G Gundam, Gundam Wing, Gundam X, or Turn A Gundam.

Another nice ANE, Marzgurl. If you don't mind my asking, though, will we be seeing any more anime reviews (a la Arcade Gamer Fubuki) in the future soon?
• Quantum Wolf

Woohoo! Streaming gundam!

I'm a hardcore gundam fan, but I admit I never really watched any of the pre-Wing shows.

Personally I prefer Men of Destiny, the 2nd 0083 OP, as opposed to the first OP.

Its funny you should post this. I have been on a gundam kick all week. Premonition? Could be.

without a doubt the best way to elaborately tell people you have a new car
• MarzGurl
avatar
I actually don't, though. That car is several years old.
• jz1337
lol brings back good times of all the misheard Japanese lyrics. Not much for news to me (not a gundam fan) but the song more than makes up for it rofl.

Wow, way to lie to us Marzgurl about your car.
• MarzGurl
avatar
A lie? "I got a brand new car" were seriously the lyrics my friends and I heard for years to this song. I said upfront that they were misheard lyrics, not that I actually bought a new car! :P
• Remake_Trap
umm but the line "I got a burning heart" was already in English. :woohoo:

You were making up the rest of the lyrics right now right? Since 0083 predates DVDs and was originaly on LD and VHS :P

Still I never got to see the end of 08th MS team so I'll have to finish that and Zeta Gundam.
• MarzGurl
avatar
Yeah, and "I got a burning love" was already in English, too. However, it's sung by a Japanese person with poor English pronunciation.

Not to mention, hey, I watched 0083 on Adult Swim, not on VHS or laser disc, which was substantially later.
• jz1337
Got me on a technicality, well played lol.
Funny enough I'm listening to the song now and I keep hearing some of your lyrics in it, particularly the brand new car part

Which is weird considering those lyrics are actually in english
• Spokavriel

Really fun lyrics interpretation. You know when you were standing there still looking in your wallet while the car was pulling out. For a moment, just a moment, I thought the car was being stolen while you were still looking for gas money :silly:

Wait, is that BRAZIL's flag @1:22? Is that from 0083? And what's up with that kinda-Nazi one? Is it like a Brazil 2.0 vs Nazi 2.0 future? I really don't know what the hell is going on but now i really want to watch it xD

Sorry, I've never watched Gundam before (yeah I know, I will someday okay?). Well, guess free streaming Gundam is the perfect excuse to start :D
• Remake_Trap
The Flags represent the two principle potiical forces in Gundam The Republic/Duchy/ Principality of Zeon and the Earth Federation.

The Red and Black one being Zeon.

That's good news, too bad I've been a Gundam fan since elementary school and I've already either got those DVDs or already downloaded them; but Gundam Unicorn coming out is good to hear.
• Valtana  - Awesome!!!
More Gundam, yay! I just can't wait for them to release Gundam Wing on Youtube or another streaming site...why, oh why, can't I have my Duo Maxwell fix without having to google my butt off?!

And the song, by the way, had me rolling around laughing. Epic, as always. : )

Don't get too excited.

As of yet, the only streaming titles available have been the original series (dub-only, though it's a good one), Zeta Gundam, and Gundam Seed. So far, no announcements have been made about hte streaming of Double Zeta, which has never been released in the R1 market, or shows like Gundam X and others. It's just the TV series that have been available in the domestic home video market, and it's very much just a promotion for Gundam UC (or, Gundam Unicorn).

Now, I'm a huge Gundam fan, so I like the idea of Gundam streaming. Especially since my favorite Gundam anime, Zeta Gundam, is being streamed, and with corrected subtitles, from the newer release, rather than the "dubtitles" of the initial one. However, I would like to see something like Turn A Gundam get streamed, or even have a domestic DVD release.

Likely this is a stunt that Bandai is doing to get people in the mood for Gundam, so that they'll be more likely to fork out the pricey first Blu-Ray for Gundam UC, which only contains the first fifty-minute episode. I had the privledge to preview and review the first episode, subtitled only, for Anime News Network a short time ago, and it's quite good, but you'll have to decide on your own whether it's worth the purchase.

My personal thoughts about 0083 is that it's great for its action, but the story and characters aren't really that great. It's not well-written and it's very existence is sort of an after-the-fact justification for something in Zeta Gundam which didn't really need that much more justifying. Not to mention, they really exaggerate the Federation's corruption to a level which, if it existed, it would have to have been overthrown by the citizens if it was that dumb. But, like I said, some great mecha action.

Anyway, you can check out my review of the first episode of Gundam UC right here. Funny bit with that theme song, by the way.
• Spiritsoulx
Thank god they're not streaming Seed or Turn A or Destiny or Wing. Those series don't need any publicity at all, they're mediocre at best, and in the case of Turn A and Destiny downright terrible D:

I'd like some Gundam X though.
• Quantum Wolf
avatar
I agree with you 100% that Destiny is the worst crap to ever hold the Gundam name.

Regular SEED is not that bad, and Wing, well, if you can take off the Nostalgia glasses then that's agreeable as well.

Only thing I disagree on is Turn A.
• PublicEnemy
avatar
Interestin. I might check em out.

What are a few of the best that you (or anyone else) recommend I should check out? (Im a bit of a critic, so I like things that are well written and well put together, but I do like action as well)
• ninjalizchan

That remindes me of the first Gundam series I watched, Gundam Wing. It was also the first anime I watched where they used the Japanese opening, and I totally misherd the lyrics as well. For instance I thought the first line, which originally was "Just Wild Beat" actually said "Gundam Wing" not that far off I know but still. You should do more misheard lyrics of anime openings, they would be histerical!

What the hell? New Car? In the time of Gas-tronomical prices? (hoho, see wot i did thr?)

Anyway, we over in Blighty never actually got original Gundam, to my knowledge. Knowing my luck, we probably still won't get this release!

Oh well, I'll give Crunchyroll a go later.

Will you stop calling your rants "editorials" ? Go learn real journalism or something.
• MarzGurl
avatar
Having my major be in Mass Communications, Radio/TV Broadcast, I can assure you I know my journalism. As such, these videos cannot truly be called "news" since they are opinionated. Since it is news-centered with opinions, then then becomes an editorial.

Well its only natural that becouse Gundam Unicorn is UC anime they stream all those previous UC animes. It would not hurt if they would also stream Gundam X becouse it was never seen before outside Japan with legal means.

As a Giant Robots fan I fully approve this weeks Gundam themed editorial. And I'm still waiting for more Sentinel Gundam (How much Gunpla do I have to buy to get an OVA Bandai!?)
• Quantum Wolf

I'd also like to see an adaptation of Gundam Sentinel, as well as the infamous Hathaway's Flash.
• Atma

Nah, I'd rather see them adapt Crossbone gundam, because it's HARDCORE! Pirate themed gundams VS crazy Jupiter people FTW!

And I see someone deleted my previous post. Youuu feddie!
