02.29.2012 - 06:20 | bentleymlIt did look interesting, but I was a bit creeped out by how young Riley looked. LAG says she looked 15, but I'd say she looks more like 12 or 13.
Still an interesting concept, but it does seem to be lacking a solid hook as LAG says.

I wonder why they keep getting Rob Liefield jobs, because I actually READ Hawk and Dove and nothing in that title said "This guy should write and draw MORE stuff". Do they hope his controversial name shall gather buzz and thereby sales? Are Hawkman and Grifter just so hopelessly mediocre that nobody cares about what happens to them? Only time will tell...
As for this series, I'll be honest- Glory's design alone draws me in, and would most likely keep me reading just because I find the premise and the way that the art actually bolsters the premise of a truly hardcore warrior princess enough to at least have me check out the first story-arc... and hope that they're just starting off slow, and that the story will become more interesting as time goes on. Hey, wanting to have the story start off shocking and attention-grabbing was how we got Red Hood and the Outlaws, so I don't mind waiting for them to set the scene if that's what they want.

The "correct" terminology is "Most Common Superpower". Though to be fair, that refers more to the Required Secondary Powers that come with a massive, shapely bosom that doesn't get in the way of extreme physical activities.

02.29.2012 - 20:14 | katefanHow does Liefeld keep getting work when his crap gets canceled? You can't tell me there aren't young and hungry writers and artists out there eager to jump at the chance to write big name DC properties. Heck, didn't Bendis get his start as an independent before being discovered by Marvel? Damn it, stop giving guys like Liefeld hundreds of second chances!
Okay, rant over. Great review, and I loved the opening several minutes. :D

02.29.2012 - 20:58 | SijoDC rehiring Liefeld just proves to me they don't really care about their comics (or their fans) they are just producing material for their owners (Warner Brothers) to use in movies, cartoons, games etc.
Glory looks awful, but I guess that's intentional. Her design doesn't spook me away from the comic, but her attitude does. I've had it with super strong self-righteous characters.
And like the Geek said, there's not enough made clear in the comic to hold my interest. In fact there was too much grit in it (did Gloria REALLY need a neck scar?) IF they had explored that "human host" angle... maybe. But so far, not interested.

This comic actually looks awesome to me I love that kind of art! And I like the muscular woman look over pinup after pinup look! All I know about this character was she was a shameless Wonder Woman ripoff from a review Linkara did awhile back where she was in a crossover with another character!
Supreme is another of those characters I'd love to read more on but the Alan Moore run is some sort of legal mumbo-jumbo and hasn't been collected into trades and are hard to collect as singles!
But I do agree Liefeld is insane and must have dirt on people that'd make J Edgar look like a saint!

What's funny is that I'm probably the only guy on this site who actually IS familiar with Glory. What can I say, I enjoyed the cheesy 90s extreme comics in the same way I enjoy terrible action flicks; I like schlock ;)
But anyway, I might give this a try just because that art (especially Glory's character design) is really impressive. Definitely dig that style. And actually, despite you saying there was no hook, I'm actually pretty curious about this whole (as you put it) symbiotic thing they've got going on. Couldn't hurt to buy the first few issues to see where its going...

Okay, I've seen Rob writing and art style, blackmail makes more sense than ever before. Now, he got on book and it was canceled. Now he's given three! It has to be blackmail, and Rob also looks incredibly young for someone his age! I wonder if could he be a vampire, but instead of feeding off the blood of the living, he feeds on the souls of those poor fortunate people that are forced to read his books!

It's sad, because Liefield is a REALLY nice guy. Ah well... Since I was little I was desperate for more female comic book characters (still am) but... apparently they were there, just in books that don't have covers that appeal to young girls. At all. I wish I could sit on some of these meetings, seriously.
Anyway, I love having a low key (but funny) comic book show to watch... please keep the episodes coming, because I'm late to discovering your show but I'm starting to need a fix. Thanks! :)

Knowing Time Warner they will probably give DC comics to an internet company in exchange for stock then decide that they don't want it anymore 9 years later. Am I right?

I know that it is a bad joke but something is compelling me to make it. I must be stopped before I ruin more people's fun with references to obscure business deals gone awry.
