Wow I actually want to read this series and it makes me that much sadder to find out that it's getting shafted. I love seeing villains become anti-heroes as it then means they can flip to either side of the spectrum while still retaining knowledge of what their other lives were like.
Don't get me wrong, I love seeing real heroes but sometimes its nice to see more flawed characters become more developed.

At first I was gonna say you should have waited but I think everyone knows how it ended. I actually did tear up when this series came to a close since it had been the only book I picked up each month for the last three years. When I moved into my apartment, I started buying issues so it's been a part of my life for a while. It was a great ride and so many great stories (Cat's cradle especially); Even the week issues had great moments (the first issue of the Doom Patrol crossover had the Slacker-turned supervillain, Issue 23 was still a fun action story). I could spend a whole day describing how great this series but...
I have to also praise Simone not just for her writing (and getting me introduced to Ostrander's Suicide Squad as well) but how she's handled it getting cancelled; if there's a writer who's rolled with the punches, it's Gail. She's had multiple twitter discussions with fans to make the reboot easier to take and she's taken time to thank all her fans for their support (she even told me, after i asked, about what some of her plans for the six were if it were to be continued (jeanette would go on to be the new leader and would receive a story arc, there also would have been some new members added). Seriously, if Gail hadn't been so awesome about things, I would have just flipped off the reboot as a whole and given up mainstream comics again.
Also, I do agree about the Scandal Page. While I could believe this happening (She's Scandal Savage...if she says she make polygamy work, she can) the fact that it happens mere hours after Knockout had just started to barely get out of her shell and Liana was still recovering from DAYS of emotional, mental, physical, and possibly sexual torture at the hands of a stalker makes it seem too far fetched and kind of insulting. A few more issues would have given time for this to be a more believable idea.
In any case, thanks for the review and I'm gonna miss this book (the fact that some of them are appearing in a suicide Squad book that isn't written by Ostrander or Simone irks me, especially since the writer only has one decent comic under his belt)

I almost thought that was a photo of grant morrison. :) I joke but I realized recently that Morrison looks like Luthor which is ironic because I think he is a villain of a writer.
Secret Six was a great book I will miss with Power Girl and Batgirl (Stephanie Brown). Last Angry geek I been crying too espically when ECW went under.

Well I personally am going to keep an open mind about this relaunch. Besides if this whole reboot thing goes south, the writers could just fix it in another big event thing. Or another possibility I see is they might keep the new stuff and get the old stuff back by just writing off the reboot as their answer to Marvels ultimate universe

I couldn't agree more Mr. Geek. Secret Six has been consistently one of DC's best titles since it launched and it's by far the biggest loss in the relaunch.
People complain about the likes of Powergirl and the JSA but forget that those are long established characters who WILL be back before long. The Secret Six have no such luxuries, it's a team book about B-listers and new characters and as such there's a good chance we'll never see the team again. All so we can pave the way for the AWFUL looking new Suicide Squad book.
Secret Six is the comic that got me into reading monthly comics, before then I was happy to stick to the occasional trade but after I finished reading the trades that were out I knew I couldn't wait for the trades. I wouldn't be half the fan I am were it not for the Six.
RIP Secret Six, you shall be missed.

08.24.2011 - 05:41 | GweskoyenI wish I could watch the review, but I read Secret Six in TPB form, and it is only as far as issue #29 there and I don't want spoilers. I clicked on it though for your click count, LAG.

First off thanks for the song you have in the review by scissor sisters. Never heard it and now own. But to all out there, with the death of so many titles on the relaunch we are all going to have some of our favorites lost. This is the last angry geeks one. That's the great thing of this site, its his opinion. Maybe instead of complaining and disagreeing why don't every one post what there's is and give there opinion. If not, make a video and post it on you tube get a shitload of hits and then ask channel awesome if you can join and have it seen here. Thanks again and good review.

Going to get this out of the way right now, GAIL SIMON IS SEXY. Now that that's out of the way, I need to start reading secret six, I pretty much ignored the series. I heard it was good but there was always something I wanted more. And when it comes to art, I've seen much worse. Take a look at the Batman Beyond comics, now THOSE have great stories and ugly art.

Preach it brother! I too have really enjoyed Secret Six and was dismayed when I saw that it wasn't going to be a part of the new 52.
Though I actually like the idea of the Universal reboot, as an honest way of wiping the slate clean, (rather than hiding it behind an event) I was disappointed with the line up. Superman and Action Comics, I can get behind. Batman and Detective Comics, sure thing. But why is there, Batman, Detective Comics, Batman: The Dark Knight and Batman and Robin. Is this really a good idea? I love Batman as much as the next heterosexual male comic book geek, but why do we need 4 Batman titles?
You can easily drop one or two of these titles, or even drop Batwing, and give us back Secret Six and ShadowPact. No DC! No! Don;t give me this Justice League Dark is Shadowpact crap, I won't stand for it!

Great vid, LAG.
And yes, it's an absolute scandal that DC is rebooting its continuity AGAIN! Are they now going to employ the Sliding timescale ala Marvel? Are they going to continue to make Movies?
Either way, It makes me wonder why I bother with Reprints now, because I'll just have to start all over again when the reboot hits the reprints. And they're not even Monthly. It's a bloody disgrace!

After the Action Comics crossover earlier this year I was going to start picking up this series form that point onward but decided not to since I was having money troubles and skipped a few other titles I was getting for a few months. And with the relaunch to be honest I'm kinda glad I didn't since that would mean I wouldn't have very much of it (started getting Supergirl at the same time the Action Comics crossover came out, and at least that's been picked up for the relaunch!). I do intend to start getting the trade paperbacks of the series though.

08.24.2011 - 15:44 | classicgamerpersonally i found the final battle and resolution to the series to be kind of disapointing, the fight was too short and not that exciting,it had nobodies like catman and ragdoll who became some of the most deadliest willians in the dc universe as well as power houses like king shark and knockout both can go toe to toe with superboy suped them up with venom and thered be a blood bath with casualties on bothsides instead we get a short 2 page spred fight ending with the ss only causeing minimal injury to the heros, they could have atleast killed red tornado hes always dies.

I'm pissed about the reboot for 5 reasons.
1)I love what Morrison did to the Joker, plus DC spent the last 3 years heavily hinted/outright telling us that the Joker was faking his insanity & knew who Batman was & didn't care. I am the leader of a Joker fanclub with over 80 members, so I need to keep this shit straight.
2)I don't know if Jason will still be a Robin gone bad. I liked that concept.
3)They made spinoff series where Batan's & Superman's origins were redone, then a year latter they reboot. That was a terrible idea & I don't know if those origins are still canon. I still say Lovers & Madmen slams The Killing Joke as the best Joker origin.
4)What happens to all the new characters?
5)Now I have to refer to all my acquired knowledge as having taken place in the "previous canon."
Also need to know from more veteran readers...Were their any major retcons or little reboots after Zero Hour? That's where my collection starts & I acquired a massive amount of comics since 2009 with no real concept of what was actually canon or not, & it drives me nuts.

Secret Six and Batgirl were my two favorite comics from DC that recently ended. Both had the great endings(Batgirl was easily better because it showcase planned future stories that will never happen). As for the reboot, I got nothing against it as long as great stories are still being made.
The one comic I'm really looking forward to is Batgirl for two reasons: Babs is taking back the mantle and Gail Simone is writing it. Don't get me wrong, I love her whether she's Batgirl or Oracle but for nostalgic reasons from the numerous shows I prefer her more as Batgirl. To me, she's the true Batgirl(Cass is too violent and her look says "Evil" Batgirl. While Steph I heavily enjoyed and sad that her story ended but her personality reminded too much of Babs.).
Great video and I heavily enjoyed the opening.

I was one of the people that complained about your first few videos. In fact i think in your 2nd or 3rd one you even quoted one of my posts in that little skit you did at the start where you were crying (heh funny stuff)
Just wanted to say although im not a huge comic fan i have been checking your videos lately. They give me a little heads up with whats going on in a world i pretty much gave up on a while ago and are pretty informitive. Your other videos are good too. You really have improved a lot in both your camera presence and the structure of these pieces. Keep up the good work man!
Yeah, the DC relaunch has gotten some decidedly mixed reactions. Personally, I can't say I'm too thrilled about the whole thing, especially when great books like this are getting the shaft. I don't want to see Superman's origin again, I want good writers writing good stories about b-list superheroes.
On that note, will you be looking at any of the relaunch titles?
