07.13.2011 - 03:23 | brendanfalconerGood continuation from the cross-over vid'.
As for Star Wars: Legacy - War, it just came across as a begrudging attempt by Dark Horse to pacify fans. They love cancelling series at the issue #50 mark, and it is a crying shame that the successful and popular Legacy fell prey to that "brilliant" decision making.
War is simply too short and too rushed. At 8 issues or even better 12, it would have had time to show the scope of the war, and give the big cast panel space to do more than exposit and shout, which is sadly what the 6 issue mini-series amounted to.
I would have preferred they didn't do the miniseries, since that would have left the potential of a continuing series somewhere down the line. Now that won't happen.

You MILK that guest appearance, my friend! Milk it for all it's worth!
And: JESUS CHRIST this comic exemplifies everything that is wrong with Star Wars these days: a ball-crushing insult to the entire point of the fundamental story, all wrapped up in a glossy and glitzy package of technical skill.
Six words: Harry Plinkett for the God Damn Win. Yes, I know that's not six words.
Anyway. Nice to see you still working. Now, can you please hurry up with your weekly reviews of Dr Who? I mean, are you going to use the season hiatus as some kind of excuse for resting on your laurels?

"Those who do not study history are doomed to repeat it". I mean, why else would they be repeating the same damn plotline over and over again?

So THIS is why you ran away from Malachite. Smart decision.
War was OK for the most part, but yeah the whole end at 50 comics thing was a rather ass move, and War felt a little too short as the end all to Darth Krayt.
But I enjoyed it for what it was. The Legacy comics as a whole have been interesting stuff, especially since they're the first real Expanded Universe material to do a major timeskip post Original Saga.
Only question now is...what's next? The War comics are currently the latest Star Wars material chronologically.

Loved how this vid continued the SK-story line. But would you really be able to review comics, games, anime and all those other things if the others went and got themselves offed? Priorities, man!
As for the comic itself, I can't say that much- I have only heard about the Legacy series, the main draw being that the main character is a Skywalker that's a far cry from his ancestors honorable self. And to be honest that DOES intrigue me, blasphemy as it might be. Shit goes in cycles, some people strive for great heights, other plummet to great depths. But if the ending to all that action is just crammed into a six issue mini, I may have to abstain- what can I say, I love it when an ending really comes together, instead of being forced together.

07.13.2011 - 08:58 | Neo Ultra MikeYou know this may be looking too much into it but if that means you are one of the cloaks within your own storyline, does that mean you actually pratice magic and have been around for over 30+ years trying to keep Malachite's hand guarded against the unworthy? If that's the case why did you try attacking and killing the other guys at CA? Even if they are unworthy aren't they still your friends or did you always want an excuse to kill them? How did this go over the next time you saw them anyway? Or did you never discuss this with them again?
I know I'm overanalyzing but isn't that how all paranoid fan theories are born? Still I appreciate someone continuing the continuity from SK as normally Linkara or Nostalgia Critic would do that but works for Geek awesome. In truth I was never into the Legacy storyline but the art for it does look great and I can tell it was a good ending for the series as you did a good job explaining the plot and even in your explanation it seemed obvious some characters were getting shifated of screentime.

This review fills the "What the last angry geek does after he flees the battleground." gap in the Suburban Knights movie. This should be in the extras in the "Suburan Knights dvd" that is being made as we speak. Panda's Suburban Knight Music Video & now The Last Angry Geek's Review tie in to the movie. GENIUS!

07.13.2011 - 13:48 | Fuery87To be honest, I kinda got bored of Legacy towards the end, though I did eventually finish it. At least things get more exciting in War. I still don't understand why they didn't just make it the last Legacy arc, which it pretty much is, rather than a sorta separate mini-series. Was glad to see Krayt drop the Vong armor. Kinda miffed about Fel's death though. Character was pretty badass.

According to the Star Wars Legacy comics, 100 years after the original trilogy, the galaxy has supposedly seen several major wars and enough political maneuvering to turn the franchise into a Tom Clancy novel. During that century, the Rebellion formed into the New Republic and then into the Galactic Alliance, eventually making peace with the Empire and allying with them on several occasions.
Luke Skywalker, again demonstrating his complete and total dementia, forgets every single detail about his father's life and builds a new Jedi Order that encourages emotional ties and marriages. Han Solo and Princess Leia have three kids, one of whom turns into a Sith, and Luke has a son with some redhead.
All of a sudden the Sith reappear. Again.
And, again, the Empire declares war on the Galactic Alliance, easily crushing their allied nuts and installing their Sith leader as Emperor of the Galaxy. Again.
They go on to lead a surprise attack against the Jedi, killing most of them and forcing the rest into hiding.
Again.
Meanwhile the scattered remnants of the Alliance begin a guerilla war against their much more powerful adversary while Luke's son, a young Jedi named Skywalker, must use his powerful Force abilities to try and destroy the evil Sith Emperor.
Our more clever readers may have noticed a small curiosity regarding this storyline: It is, word for word, the exact fucking plot of the entire Star Wars saga. Not just a recycled plot device like a new superweapon (see above), but the whole goddamn plot.

Fact Anakin had to keep his love and his wife a secret trapped in him in a corner he couldn't escape, or so he thought, which allowed Palpy to fuck with his head an make him go Emo then Evil.
Luke did not just have a kid with some redhead. Mara Jade, former hand of the Emperor and Jedi Knight. One of the better EU characters who got screwed over.
You notice it also wasn't his kid who went nuts but his Nephew Jacen and his turning had nothing to do with the changes Luke had made in retuning to the Pre-Russan way of things.
Does he put the idiot hat on for Emperor Reborn? Hell yes. The New Jedi Academy wasn't a stupid ball holding move though.
The Sith didn't just reappear and the Empire had been bidding it time for almost a century by then with the Fel Empire consolidating the Imperial remnants into a cohesive whole before Krayt just killed most of them and took over.
I'm not even a reader of the comics and I'm poking holes in the statement you cut and pasted here.

Ah, so that's where you went...
I'm not partial to Star Wars: Legacy, mainly because I hate to think that the future Luke and the others fought for might have almost been for nothing. And, the fact that they reused pretty much the same plot... but good review anyway.
Rest in peace, Ma-Ti...
(I didn't know Rage Against the Machine did a version of the Imperial March. I'l have to look it up)

When I started reading Legacy, I didn't like it that much, but I couldn't really put my finger on why. (Well, it may have had something to do with me not being able to read half of the issues, since they weren't published here.)
But looking back now, I see my problem: the atmosphere.
Dark places, lost purposes, factions and people with lot to regret, chasing hopeless ideals, having obscure destinies to fulfill.
It seems like this kind of setup (regardless of the background universe) is loved by a lot of people (in Hungary too), but not by me.
I usually lose interest, because even if the plot advances, the mood doesn't change at all. All I do, is wait for a hopeful tone to come up, or a "miserable idealist" to be proven wrong, but it just doesn't happen.
That's why I think War is a great ending (well, based on your story summary, because again... not published here), because finally, it feels like big things are happening, and the mood advances, to form a good resolution (redemption and rebirth instead of dwelling on the past).

Really good review. However, as you'd like to give credit where credit is due on your music, I do need to make one little correction.
The music you use for your opening and closing credits wasn't by Rage Against the Machine, but was instead by Peter McConnell for the game "Star Wars: Force Commander". McConnell did most of the original music for all of Lucasarts' Star Wars games until Battlefront.
