Judging by the reviews, it will probably be worse. Looks like DC is unable to make good movies that are not Batman or Superman. Oh well, I'm more of a fan of Marvel anyway.

06.17.2011 - 00:41 | ZydrateI can kinda of agree that movies have never really been DC's forte, with the exception of Batman and Superman of course. But DC's got marvel beat in the animation department. So I guess that's a point for us DC fan boys.
Anyway, I'll still hold out hope for the Green Lantern movie.

06.17.2011 - 01:07 | August M.True on the animation part. But at least the more recent animated series of Marvel have been great. The only movie and/or show I want DC to make is on Captain Marvel but they obviously don't care about him(Hell, he's not even part of the reboot this September).

I like the Idea of Kyle Rayner. the only good thing 90s DC gave us. On which note, I think of the Tragic tale of Hank Henshaw, whose only wish is the tranquility of death...

I recently tried to get into western comics, and Secret Origin was one of the first stories i checked out. I honestly think the storytelling is very bad. The pacing is way too fast, especially when Hal is on Oa. I don't think it dedicates nearly enough frames to subtle character moments, and i don't like the constant narrating of the main character. Opposite you, i think the bits with Atrocitus was by far the most interesting parts, but maybe that's because i don't know anything about the stories as of now.
So i was kinda underwhelmed, but it didn't scare me away. From Green Lantern i'll at least read Wanted and No Fear sometime in the future. After that we'll see.

Saw the GL movie. Was NOT impressed (except for the fx).

loved the review, and as this was the comic that sucked me in as well, totally agree. the one tiny miniscule, unimportant detail that always bothered me though, (and keep in mind, id give this five out of five stars, i am in no way saying this is bad, its just a tiny editing error,) comes when Abin Sur meets Hal. the exact panel is shown in the video here at the fifteen minute, forty second mark. Abin is impaled on a piece of some equipment, yet, for some reason, the wires are still properly attached and hanging. if he were impaled on it, the wires would be going through his wound, not hanging off the way they are. that always bothered me. the story though, is amazing. and the review, just as good. good job!

Thanks for the review. Now that I know this is out I have to get it.
I always liked Hal more than the other GLs because of his relationship with Carol and Sienstro. Not all mushy with Carol like Superman is with Lois. And the idea of the hero once being mentored by his arch-enemy is too good to pas up. I'm really glad that both of these relationships are played up so well here.

I just got back from the movie its close to this story but also different. I'll talk about that in one of my future shows. I also did a show (Blip TV Reviews and Inf by kaykeyser) with Mad Matt ware we covered all the Green Lanterns From Allen Scot on up. its nice to see this show give me that last bit of info I need to do my next show.

Green Lantern. Besides Spider-man my favorite Comic-Hero. Love the animated "First Flight" and "The New Frontier"(it´s a Green Lantern Story after all) Haven´t seen "Emerald Knights" yet. But the new movie seem to suck (well, Cinema Snob said so, I have not seen him yet). Secret Origin is a good new origin, something you can´t say for all renewed ones.

is it funny or just really really sad that your green lantern mask in your title card looks more believable than the one in the new movie? seriously tho it looks like robert zumeckis did the special effects for ryan reynolds mask except he forgot it wasn't roger rabbit he was working on but the studio said fuck it we need this movie done now.

Excellent review as always. If you do see the movie, you've got to admit that they scrapped Hal and made him as a GL more like Jon Stewart when it came to him using his ring.
Plus I recommend everyone see Emerald Knights, there's a fun drinking game that can be played with it. Plus there's something about the word "poozer" that makes my inner child squee.
