Ah yes, I thought some of that footage looked familiar. Funny how these things get around.

Nice to have a positive spin on some of the obvious knockoffs. While the originals are arguably superior in most cases, it doesn't mean the knockoffs aren't good - when done well.

Oh snap! I was sitting there thinking the whole time "Huh? Didn't Maruz Girl review it? Were are the gundom and macros rip offs? Why dose this plot sound like it accualy makes sense?"

I thought I reckognized the clips they used in Space Thunder Kids XD

    Awesome video man.

This does not look too bad Dr. Butler looks like a cool villian. Great video.

I also noticed that these were the clips in Space Thunder Kids. Never would have guessed that you'd happen to talk about one of the movies that clips were taken from.

Another good episode Ed. I always find it interesting how other cultures spin American movies to make it work for their respective culture.

Now we know why Space Thunder Kids made no sense. Some idiot decided to splice a bunch of different animated movies together. Much has been revealed.

With that said, I wonder what the original source of the epic "robot punching a dude through a spaceship" scene was.

I'm not positive, but that one might be "Protectors of Universe".

I always enjoy your work Ed. This episode in particular for showing me a piece of my own culture I didn't know about.

I have to say Dark Maze makes some of the highest production quality videos for the site. Even if the video is a topic I'm not super interested in I always find myself watching.

Another Quality Product from Dark Maze Studios.

And it's a pity that they took this Tron-inspired movie and stitched it together with some giant robot and Space movies to make a plotless mess called Space Thunder kids.

Although that toilet attendant did look kinda familiar...

Great stuff, "Lars". End of Line.

Holy crap! It's using animation STRAIGHT from Space Thunder Kids! Wow, Korea rips off not only Tron, but their own animation! Now that's lazy.
  • Ed Glaser

Actually it's the other way around. "Space Thunder Kids" uses clips from this movie -- and it was a Hong Kong producer who put STK together.

I've never been a big fan of Tron but I found this review very interesting.

Also it's interesting why the korean 'rip offs' have been made (I knew of the Japanese occupying Korea).
On the other hand, since there are more than one reviewers on TGWTG ripping the animated movies apart, it's easy to notice how bad they are made and how often they reuse characters and animation.
This is as lazy as sad.

However, thanks for the nice video. Very interesting as entertaining.

Short, to-the-point, yet still fun and educational.
I always love your videos Ed, you make a good reviewer/host.

I thought some of those scenes looked familiar. That explains the inconsistent animation in Space Thunder Kids.

    Wow... Never knew this existed...

As always very informative Ed :)

I've been wondering btw, do you have any releases planned in the same vein as Turkish Rambo?
  • Gamermage
Parts of Korean Tron was used to make Space Thunder kids? I thought that footage looked familar....

Say Ed, speaking of animated Korean films that took elements from Japanese cartoons, did you by any chance see that one that started it all Taekwon V?
  • Ed Glaser

I haven't! Although I did some research on it for this episode.

I definitely need to see it; I know it got a restoration a few years back.

I knew that the Mazinger ripoff footage from Space Thunder Kids is from an entirely different movie (thanks to MasakoX ), but the TRON ripoff AND the Captain Harlock ripoff come from the same movie Oo ?

Speaking of: Every friggin scene from Space Thunder Kids has its own shitty movie?! OH GOD!
