  • benzaie

    nope it's english

  • FatAnon

Sweet! Downloading it now. Thanks Benzaie!

  • Sigmanonymous

Thanks for the link, but I'm getting a 503 error when I copy/paste it into the url.

  • DevilDog2010  - Hmm

Dammit, I can't seem to get this to work. Even if I just copy and paste. Any suggestions?

  • FatAnon

Weird, I just retried to access it and its now asking for a password... hmmm.

Well I managed to download it a second ago. I'm not sure whats up.

Nice review. Looks like a fun game, though some of the characters look an awful lot like some of the characters in Thrill Kill.

  • ThatSlayerOf100

Wow, that was a nice review, I really like the suffering, such a great story and the sequel as well, but is sucked that in the second game you only have 2 weapons to carry, I guess they wanted realism. Anyways, Torque is badass among badasses.

The only weak point on this vid was that lame cover song you put in the background, not creepy just dumb besides the original Raining Blood.
If your going to make a vid for Ties that bind us, put it there, rapid fire gory action up the ass with Slayer is the perfect mix.

  • Baconbits

Gotta say, this happens to be my favorite horror game of all time as well. Top notch review, ya got there! B)

  • Lotus Prince

I am definitely looking forward to this. I acquired a PS2 only a few months ago, and have been stocking up on the survival horror stuff, like Galerians Ash, the Fatal Frame series, Rule of Rose, and both The Suffering games. I saw a friend play the very beginning of the first one, and it didn't take me very long to become interested. It looks like my interest in the game was well-founded. Thank you for boosting my desire to play this game, Sage, and congratulations on your definite improvement in your reviews!

  • D-boy

nice work bro. can't wait for the 25... heh heh heh.

  • Captain_Elsewhere

Yeah I played this a while ago at my friends and got it last year, first time I watched my friend playing it I was in some facinated horror most of the time the whole thing is amazing, but suffers from some bad gliches and some parts of the game are incredibly unintuitive and frustrating.

  • Khan FurSainty

I am SO gonna find this game after this review! Nice one Sage. :cheer:

  • justsomeasshole

Midway released this game as abandonware

  • Kaleion

Wait what!!!! I found this game downloadable for free in the internet and thought it was piracy and you're telling me it's actually LEGAL to download it??? fuck I gotta find it again so I can download it!

  • Steve2911

    Very nice review.

I remember seeing this game and writing it off as another generic gorefest to appeal to the Manhunt crowd. After watching this I may have to give it a second glance.

  • Citizen Snips

Awesome! Someone else who loved the Suffering. It was kind of a surprise as it was hard to find and I didnt know anybody who had played the game when I rented it. I thought I was in for some real grade A bargain bin cheese, but I was very pleasantly surprised. I really loved the morality system where you could be a good guy or a real bastard. Good or bad, you were equal parts insane, which added to the feel of the game.

Too bad the sequel was very meh and utterly unmemorable. While the first one had an awesome setting and a mysterious plot, the second one throws that all away by putting you in Boston and adding some stupid, cliche story about the military or some mercenary corporation or some such being involved and serving as villains. The fact that I played through the first probably half a dozen times yet couldnt muster enough interest to even touch the second after one playthrough is telling.

  • EarthboundXE

The love the Suffering series as well, I'd love to see a third in the series.

  • Sieg-sama

    Thanks, Bennet.
I saw this game a long time ago at my friend's place.

I think I'll go pick it up and play it.

  • Deep Fried Fred

Ah, a sweet look back into my teenage years to dredge up good ol' nightmare fuel. Glad to know that some one else appreciates this game as much as I do.

  • Raziel555666  - Thanks for the recommendation

I've had this game for about a year but haven't played it yet cuz of other games (and cause i'm too lazy to re-connect the PS2).
Guess it's about time to dust off little slim again! I've been wanting to play Shadow of the Colossus again anyway :cheer:

  • ratof13

This is one of my favorite games period. I always thought that I was by myself but nice to see i'm not the only one.

  • Thesadman

I just completed it last night, astounding game it was.

  • Susurring

Nice Review. I was never into your stuff that much, but I think we have kind of a simmilar taste. What made me love your video was the backgroud Music.
    Tori Amow Raingin Blood!
    Escellent choice!!!

  • Xeno-the-Hedgehog

The game seems to follow a similar formula to that of the Silent Hill franchise; a tried and true approach. For that reason alone, I am seriously thinking of getting a copy of this game.

  • Mavado

Truly an awesome game, and certainly one of the best when it comes to horror (easily among the top 5).

  • Ryuk

This is one of my favorite horror games. It's just perfect. Still i liked the sequel more.

  • Guru Larry

It is a fantastic game, 2004 was a fantastic year for originality for Midway, what with The Suffering AND Psi-Ops released that year.

I never finished Ties that Bind though, no idea why.

But the original was awesome, even if it did rip-off the remake of The House on Haunted Hill a lot.

  • MPSai

I have always wanted to play this game, I didn't really know the details of it though. Great review!

  • mideon  - just love it!

I was playing part one and two and i really loved these games!
It made me so sad realising that no part three will come out....it´s also one of my favourite games, thanks from vienna for this short but great review.

  • RezTheRiffer

I remember playing this game and jumping every five minutes when a random bloody picture would flash on the screen. The abundance of these flashes convinced me the game hated me and wanted to see me piss myself. Needless to say it succeeded.

Great Halloween review Sage u brought back some fun memories of soaked undies.

  • shadowboss15

The game looks good. I may get it if I can find it. Good review.

  • dudeintheskully

it looks like such an awesome game been meaning to pick it up but iv'e somhow manage to stick to silent hill has my go to horror series. lol even thought this fatal frame and re are good game series too.

  • overfiend_87  - awesome game!

yeah this was indeed an amazing game and I can't blame you for having it as one of your best games of all time. Now I wished I saved it instead of traded it in, but oh well. Anyway, I loved the doctor most of all and getting all the files on all the different creatures that attack you in the game.

I liked the sequal, but it wasn't as good in gameplay becasue I feel they went all "Halo" on it making you carry only 2 guns at a time which is stupid. We don't want realism to restrict our weapons in games, surely.

A very decent horror game. I tip my hat to you.

  • Carnakt  - A good and memorable game

I thought a long time that i was alone in liking this game...but im glad that i was wrong. It would be very nice to see you Reviewing The suffering 2 TTB.

this is for everyone having problems with opening the download link that Benzaie kindly Provided: http://www.gamershell.com/pc/the_suffering/

A notice is that this game has problems with some ATI Graphic cards so Geforce is Reccomended.

  • StrychIX

    awesome game

  • bassbait  - Thank you Bennet...

I thought I was the only fan of the suffering, but apparently so did everybody else. This game is up there. It's HIGH up there. It's up there with Super Mario 64. what I mean by that is I find no flaw in this game. I would give this a perfect ten out of ten. If this game were at all changed, it wouldn't be so enjoyable. Same with Mario 64. I also love this game because it's so 2 sided. It starts out with the horror element. It's a really scary game, especially the asylum. But the more you play it, the less the effect it has on you. That's when I found the other side to it. It is a very cheesy game. What do I mean? 1 word: Gonzo. The gonzo gun is amazing. It's hilarious. There are so many glitches and cheats to do that make the game so funny. It has become a joke of itself technically. I like that it is "flawed" because that makes it all much better. I want to be able to laugh and be scared, and suffering is one of the few games that has done that for me. I would say fear has too, but fear wasn't the slightest bit scary.
