My favorite Pirate video game is Neverwinter Nights: Pirates of the Sword Coast.
You get shipwrecked, abandoned on an island, you get into brawls in the city, breathe underwater, become a zombie, stop a sea goddess from committing acts of terrorism, there's a big-ass dragon down there, board a ghost ship....

Two games to mention.
One, "Redhook's Revenge" on the PC. It played like a board game--a sort of "Life" meets "Risk" meets a pirate version of "Trivial Pursuit". I played the crap out of this one with my siblings.

The second is "Pirates of the Barbary Coast" for the C64. This was a great game that focused on pirates from the merchant perspective, and had Privateer-esque "buying low, selling high" to earn money, and ship-to-ship cannon warfare. Had lots of fun with this one back in the day.

There's actually tons more pirate games out there, including several modern ones and at least two MMOs. But the above were the only two I really ever played much other than the Sid Meier games.

You figure there would be more pirate games because of the whole pirate genre being big on the internet for a couple of years.
