That is like the worst case solution to piracy. I have some games that I re-install when my system crashes or I buy a new PC.

04.13.2009 - 02:57 | TKWolfmanI don't know why everyone is complaining. It should be fine as long as your computer never gets a virus or crashes EVER! :pinch:
I'd love to see how these anti-piracy people handle other crimes. I bet when they are about to get mugged, they throw their valuables in the sewer and shoot themselves in the foot. Dumbasses ruining the PC market yet again.

04.13.2009 - 03:49 | JahithWhen I'm buying a game I buy right to play it. This whole DRM thing is taking my right to play the game away from me. Developing companies sell a product to costumers without including the basic right to use it. So if I pirate a game that is DRM protected I'm not stealing it, because I have no right to play it to begin with. Conclusion: pirating a game is ok. And now... WHO THE F*** CAME UP WITH THAT IDEA?!?! It's... like.....What were they thinking?

I hate DRM. I got Far Cry 2 for $15 over Steam and they have DRM AND a CD Key on it. Both of those things are USELESS when using Steam, and I've already used 2 of my installs from system crashes. It's a load of BS is what it is.
Same thing happened with my Bioshock. Since I can't use the installs for that anymore (2, if memory serves me right) I'm forced to get an illegal version of the game that I paid for legally. It's stupid and downright awful that us honest gamers that pay for our games are treated like the criminals.
Do you guys want to know a better way to catch these people who illegally download games? Simple. Put a version of the game out on a torrent site yourselves, and have an IP tracker in with it. Simple as that...At least, it's better than this DRM crap.

04.13.2009 - 08:24 | RuinerXXSinCity - and I thought movie execs were morons....That is pretty gay, it makes you wonder if some of these Developers/publishers are trying to sabotage the PC games market. In order to herd more customers towards consoles were they will make another $5-$10 on each copy sold, while having a much easier time detecting piracy. I really do despise elitist PC gamers(as well as console fanboys, particularly Sony's), but that is absolutely unjustifiable.

04.13.2009 - 08:48 | Xploder270It's Tages, not SecuROM.
Still DRM - still sucks.

I agree that Piracy is something that is an issue and is starting to fuck with honest people. Simple fact is, the companies selling these products are stupid. All this does is force people to steal.
Reason I have bold that sentence is because as a Hacker, do you really think they would fall for something as simple as that? Yes, a lot of Piracy requires Hacking. Not only the fact that they would see that from a mile away, they more than likely already have a Proxy Server. Thus, you can't see their IP Address anyway.

Actually there are Bittorrent downloaders like uTorrent that hide your IP, so it's not traceable.
I'll be checking this game out for the PS3.
Oh! Pretty sure they removed the download limit to Bioshock.
Arcterious:
Amen to that! It's really getting out of hand with all this nonsense. These few seconds with SpoonyOne has shown all the frustration of all us gamers in a short time span.
And yes, I know that there are proxy servers. Still, something else needs to be done instead of using the ''Yeah, you can only install it 3 times then your screwed'' approach on us gamers. It's just annoying and I refuse to buy another PC game with DRM in it. As this clearly goes to show, crap like this is going to make us buy LESS PC games and turn towards the consoles...
EarthboundXE:
Oh I know that they removed it now, but back when the game first came out and I bought it...I was pissed off to no end.
So yes, DRM = Destroying my Rights to MAH GAME TIME! Err...yeah anyways, it's stupid, annoying, and doesn't need to exist. The only ones affected by DRM are the honest buyers, and it just ticks us off to no end...
lOL u Sound like AVGN...
But its a stupid idea...
no matter how u look at it its just plain dumb... :X
Well this topic well deserves angry-like attitude because it makes US (Honest Gamers) suffer, and the worst part is.... DRM STILL EXIST!
I remember the times when hard drives had smaller capacity then CD's. Games gave player joy and sense of piece in his/her heart. Now Computer Game Entertainment makes your brain drown in adrenaline. Not out of joyful excitement, but from stress and anger. And that's not the way games should be played.
-
uh i think that Artictoe was talking about Jahith (the poster above Artictoe) cuz he said "It's....like....What were they thinking" cuz thats what the AVGN says all the time but yeh i agree it calls for a VERY angry reaction. we should protest or something. were not criminals just because we actually want to play our game that WE PAID FOR!

04.14.2009 - 06:39 | rcivitWhat a pile of crap, then !
Srsly, games should be released on xbox360, ps3 and wii ONLY.

I've pretty much boycotted all EA PC games.
They are the largest company doing this install limit and installing spyware on their own customers computers.
It's gonna get hard soon, since those jackasses with be publishing Bioshock 2.
I know how you free about Bioshock mmntw26, I bought it when it just came out, before they removed the limits, and it pissed me off too.

I find DRM irritating because I have a limited 67 total gigs of space on my hardrive. Between my music, photos, and other games I don't have that much space to spare, or at that money to spare for a significant other drive, and I would like to take things on and off as I please . . . not that I would want to reinstall Spore, but that's just me.
-
08.08.2010 - 16:55 | RollingThunderWhat's so funny, it's how this game's DRM drivers don't work properly with Win7, so I just downloaded smaaaaaaaaaaaaaall NoDVD, replaced the original .dll and there it is. And I didn't register and shit, so I can install it as many times as I want.
DRM is a virus. Especially if it doesn't work.
