The way this post reads, your earlier comment was supposed to be some joke or commentary on people calling you out for your videos and getting up voted...not only does the post not make it clear that it was a joke (if it was one), but that whole premise is so self serving and selfish that there's really not much that needs to be said beyond that.

In addition, responding to negativity with flaming doesn't win you any points, either. I probably have spent far more time than I really needed to replying to you, but the last straw was you playing the victim card in this whole mess. First off, there is not a place on this site that you can point out that anyone didn't get downvoted to oblivion for calling any of the great reviewers here an AVGN Ripoff. Second, and this is the most important one, James Rolfe holds no patent, copyright, or, otherwise ownership over reviewing anything on the internet. Believe it or not, there's even some people who don't like his AVGN reviews and would prefer to watch the reviewers here instead. I pity the man for the caliber of fan he has to put up with sometimes. And last but not least, don't mess with Spoony, he'll punch you in the soul!

A truly explosive finale. The editing was top notch and the comedy was right on par. I can only imagine the joy you felt at having this albatross of a game taken from around your neck.

Saw it earlier and I must agree that the plot, when you really look at it, doesn't make any sense.

For someone who says he hates Final Fantasy VIII don't you think it's a bit weird Spoony not only has the game but has action figures, a life-sized gunblade and costume?! Anyways epic review Spoony and I got the Army of Darkness reference.

According to the commentary he just posted on his site, the action figures were donated, and the costume and gunblade were bought specifically for this review.

An epic conclusion indeed.

I also saw this on the site and loved it. the twist at the end and after the credits was awesome and the "Eyes on Me" section was hilarious.

For all the mockery Spoony directed at it though, over all these video reviews, at least Final Fantasy 8 tried to do something different. Did it work? No. But stagnation can be just as bad as failed efforts, if not worse.

And if liking Eyes On Me takes away my Man Cards, I don't want them to begin with.

Damn spoony that was some high class entertainment. You should really try to make a trip out to see LA, SF or NY and try to get a production gig in new media. I'm sure Rev3, Current and a couple others would be interested. In the meantime, thanks for all the laughs.

Edit: I think Eyes on Me is only popular because of Faye Wong.

Okay. Fine. I admit it. I liked Eyes on Me. But that was ten years ago and the game had just been released. Compounding that, I was an incredible Square fan boy the time. Today, I hate the song. I cringe every time I hear it. Doesn't help that in spite of my best efforts and copious amounts of alcohol, I still have the entire song memorized.

Final Fantasy 8 was a huge step up in video game visuals. One could argue that those visuals helped spawn the horror that was Spirits Within, but that's a rant for another day. And the combat system was a huge departure from the traditional Final Fantasy combat system that showed Square was willing to experiment a bit with their flagship product. Granted the experiment was a hilarious, game-breaking failure with an over-complicated resource system, but hey, they were trying. I think.

Final Fantasy 8 was never my favorite in the series. It is a game that I will likely never play again. It simply doesn't have the staying power other installments have had with me. It's not the worst Final Fantasy, in my opinion, but it's far from the best. It has a lot of wasted potential. And the border-line incoherent plot line doesn't help. The game almost requires one to look to external sources to fill in the plot holes.

But one thing Final Fantasy 8 is most certainly not some epic love story. And no amount of sappy J-Pop will ever change that.

In the end, as much as I don't like Final Fantasy VIII, I actually hated IX a lot more.
