I started playing this game at the LAN Center I use to go to. Everyone that saw it was like, "What the hell is that!?" or "Why are you playing that?" I told them it was addicting but they didn't believe me. Then next week I walk in and everyone is playing it. XD I warned them, but no...they didn't listen. XD

03.25.2009 - 21:15 | S_Pac_3:16 - LOL!
I heard how addicting this could be, so I will avoid this like the plague.

I bought the game on PC for a friend back when she kept yapping about it. When I saw her playing the demo, I was intrigued enough. I installed it on my computer before giving it to her though...
It's really fun for the initial playthrough, but after that, I didn't give a rat's ass about it. I'm not into extra challenges, and once I see the credits screen, I'm subconsciously convinced the game I'm playing is over.
What's up with this game's fixation on "Ode to Joy" anyway? You can even find an easter egg credit screen by playing the first few notes of Ode to Joy on the title screen by mousing over the buttons in the correct order.
The pumpkin guy and the crab are my favorite.... and I hate the last few stages to death.
For those who feel their masculinity waning by even glancing at the game, Pop Cap also released "Peggle Extreme" on as a free download on Steam, a version that features stages built around Valve's Orange Box games. (Half-Life 2, Team Fortress 2 and Portal) It's ideal for those who want to see Bjorn being attacked by a headcrab that's been impaled on his horn.
I am not...

"At the enrichment center we believe that if at first you don't succeed, you fail."

Awesome review, Lee! I remember i downloaded the Trial of Peggle Deluxe for one hour... I played it for more than one hour. It is addicting and really fun. I also have a kinda short version of Peggle Deluxe, which I got with the Orange Box... sadly, just Bjorn in it. Still fun though. :c

Well its puzzle game after all and those are addictive as LMS has proofed to us.
-
03.26.2009 - 01:26 | Bahamut - Thanks for reviewing this game
I've seen this game popping up on Steam several times as well as seeing my friends on there owning this game, so I curious to know what the game is like. After seeing this review, I now have a good idea on what it's like. I'll pick the game up someday, but right now, it's not urgent for me to get it.
Oh, and I'll keep away from the demo for the time being like you advised me.
-
03.26.2009 - 01:47 | Phelous - So it was all your work!
HAHAHA Silent Hill 2 Dog Ending music, Lee?
I shall heed your warning and stay away.
-
03.26.2009 - 01:52 | YukoValis - lol nice
Great review! yes I was addicted to it for awhile before it started getting boring. I call popcap games "three day addictions" so spot on great review.
Btw do you think it's sad how I noticed the Castlevania SOTN sounds in there?

Towards the end of the video, is that the Disgaea theme?
Peggle RULES!
-
03.26.2009 - 09:48 | Lotus Prince
Yes. His videos always start with the brief singing that comes between each chapter of the first Disgaea game, and that bit at the end was the 8 or 16 bit version of the Disgaea theme, which you can hear in Disgaea 2 or 3 at some point. I think it's in the Item world, if you run into Innocent Town, though I may be mistaken about that.

Yeah, I had gotten Peggle and Peggle Extreme on PC a while back. Now there is also Peggle Nights. A bunch more levels, another Master Ability. /sigh.

I've got Peggle express with the Orange Box (on Steam, of course). I like it, but I'm not really addicted to it. My addiction is Bioshock

"yeah I'm saying that now but in real life I eat this sh@t up and I love it I love looking at the stupid F@#$ing pretty colors" -Hit forehead with controller-

-
03.26.2009 - 07:27 | explodingboy321 - Pegggle!!!
Oh God, my friend downloaded this thing one night and we ended up playing it all the way through, two days straight, only pausing to sleep and piss. It's like the crack rock of casual games.
-

That was pritty funny, Lee. Of cource, all my time is free time, so I'll stay away from this game so not to have this game take over my life.
-
03.26.2009 - 08:00 | Omisyth - That's not what you should do!
You know the Internet is a place where if you tell someone not do something, you guarantee they'll do it!

"Don't let it's twenty orange tits taunt you!"
I laughed out loud at that one :VAnyway, this was a great review.
-
03.26.2009 - 08:19 | HamsterMan
Great review, and soo true.
I've only played Peggle extreme (the half life one) so far, and man did I love it. There were only like 10 levels or so, but man, I wish there had been more challenges.

I can't believe that my old buddy Björn actually made it into a game! Nobody took him seriously when he said he was planning to do that surgery to become a unicorn, but he's really made it big! That's awesome!
But seriously Lee, thanks for the warning. I've been deadly addicted to Bubble Spinner and Word Challenge, so the less of those devilish games I stay clear of, the better.

Why don't you play your intro music anymore? I loved this one.
Also, had exactly the same experience with peggle.
