Great video Lee... I still think Turrican II has more charm but that's nostalgia talking !

I've heard so much about this game. I really should pick it up at some point. Keep up the good work, Lee. Your reviews are fantastic. (Opinion based on the fact that Lee seems to like the same games I do and because it's the GODDAMN TRUTH.)

Nice quick review. Its great to see you went back to this one. I hope you do more from your grave yard review some day.
That game does look really great. I wish I had a chance to play it.

Now that is what I'm talking about!! Super Turrican was and still is one of my favorite shooting games for the SNES.

Wow. Talk about nostalgia. I played Turrican first time on my brothers amiga. Must have been tiny back then.

This was one of the first videogames I ever played. So awesome, and the music brings back so many memories. I really need to grab this on virtual console...Thanks Lee!

No reason to kick you for getting a Super Nintendo so late.
I got my NES five years ago.

I listened to a symphonic medley from Huelsbecks songs, with orchestra an all.Fantastic stuff.
I think you'll find it on youtube.

If you like turrican you just have to download and try the free fangame "Hurrican". It is amazing. Awesome music, awesome levels, graphics, bosses and best of all it is very faithful to the earlier turrican games.

This game is ruined by just one major flaw... that fucking time limit! Why bother to have multiple paths and hidden items if they don't want you to explore? You think I'm exaggerating, but I'm not. If you spend any amount of time trying to discover new areas, you will die just because of a countdown clock while trying to get back on track or discovering another new path. Ridiculous, and a deal breaker for me. Why would a game's creators not want you to play their own game? Stupid.

09.23.2009 - 06:39 | amiga1200games - ah yes good old Turrican
ah yes good old Turrican, the real gem in the series was the original c64 version. Such greatness from such a basic machine.

you didn't like Mega Turrican? It's the only Turrican game I played and I was pretty hooked.. I guess Super Turrican is that much better?

Yep, me too... and i don't think that's just nostalgia. What kinda bothered me about Super T is that it seems incomplete, just 4 worlds and you don't even fight "Teh Machine" - the villain shown in the intro?? What a ripoff! Also the only boss which is not lifted from another game of the series, that face thingy in the factory, looks really stupid! That said it's still a great game! Kinda like the better Turrican 3/Mega Turrican, but you can't beat 1 & 2

Oh oh, and also there is an awesome freeware game inspired by the series which can be found here: http://www.hurrican-game.de/ (don't worry the page is in english^^)

I freaking love the Turrican series and I have played every single game. I grew up with Turrican 2 on the Amiga and played it so much, I'm surprised my joystick or the disk drive didn't break. Sometimes I'd just boot it up to listen to the awesome intro music. Later I got mega Turrican for the sega megadrive and played that to death. It's only recently that I've been able to get to the other 4 games in the series (the original turrican, super turrican 1&2 for the SNES and super turrican for the NES). There were plans for a Turrican 3D back when 3D was exciting and new (and rather crappy) but it was scrapped. With all the franchise revivals going around recently, there's a slim hope that maybe, Factor 5 will revive the Turrican series but I'm not holding my breath.

Ahhh, if only I had a SNES when I was younger...thank you emulators.
Still, I had Turrican for Genesis. I also had Universal Soldier, a game that plays off the exact same engine but is still a damn fine game.

You do know there was this here game called Turrican 2... which is like 50 times better then any turrican game afterwards (most games in generally infact.) And most of you have never played or even forgotten it... and yeah, you should probably play it... now.
proof infact being the theme song alone...

The Amiga is very expensive. If one donates an Amiga and Turrican 2, I will play it.
