Very good video. I was very much looking forward to buying Thrill Kill back when it was first announced, even though I didn't think it had a chance in Hell of getting released. Lo and behold, I was right. Thanks for the memories, Dena.

Hmm...gotta say I didn't like this video. BECAUSE IT WAS A TEASE!!! Where's the rest of that game? That looked interesting! Darn you! I wanna see the rest! :P
But still, nothing wrong with seeing the background of a review. I probably wouldn't be so interested if it weren't for the controversy and the ordeal that went into finding it.

oh fuck yes. i love fucked up games like Thrill Kill (call it a guilty pleasure), and i've only ever been able to find little bits and pieces of info about it. i'm really looking forward to the rest of these videos. i applaud your efforts, Dena! maybe you can de-censor Manhunt 2 some time and display its full glory to the masses (makes me sick what happened to both these games...)

06.12.2009 - 22:03 | tricoh wow, thrill kill. i used to have a pirated version of this game back in the day. it must of been the uncensord, almost full version because i remember there being some full fmv's at the end but with a few still missing and i remember belladonnas moan too. such a great game and pretty original at the time. im pretty sure that here in england it was released for like less than a month by virgin before being pulled off the shelves. i think virgin sold its gaming corner to someone else... something like that anyway. but everyone at my old school had a chipped playstation (back then when piracey wasnt such a big deal games were being sold off from kid to kid for things like a can of coke) and everyone had thrill kill. cant wait to see the rest of this :cheer:

I agree that Mortal Kombat brings some politics about Video Game Violence, but there's one who really shocked the games. And it was in 1988 (Mortal Kombat 1992). That game was Splatterhouse on the arcade and due to its gore atmosphere and other shocking things (a reversed catholic cross), it brings the decision to rate games for public.(I saw it on MameInfo)
But I agree that Thrill Kill breaks the limit of absurdity and violence, which explains why it never came out on stores.

Glad you finally found a place for your vids, Dena, and it's really cool you are here with Lee.
As for Thrill Kill, ummm... Wow. Over the top. This is the kind of thing that gives gaming a bad name. When something impressive or innovative happens in the gaming world, nobody knows about it, but if a game lets you kill hookers, everybody and their grandma must know. We need to stop getting bad publicity.
I'm glad that you go into such detail in your reviews, really looking forward to the next episodes. :D

06.13.2009 - 00:13 | thedarkslugErm two things:
1) It was Night Trap that spawned the ERSB, not Mortal Kombat.
2) Your 10 year search for a fully working uncensored version of Thrill Kill would have been a lot shorter if you'd have just looked overseas and realized the game WAS released in Europe. You could have just imported a legit copy of the game from the U.K.
After the release of games such as Mortal Kombat, Doom, Night Trap and Lethal Enforcers, there was much controversy over video game content. Congressional hearings on video game violence and the corruption of society, headed by Joe Lieberman and Herb Kohl were held in late 1992 to 1993

Night Trap is now infamous because of its part in the 1990s Congressional hearings on offensive video game material. Night Trap and Mortal Kombat are cited as primary factors in leading to the development of the ESRB game industry ratings system.
It was definitely those two that were the primary causes of the ESRB's creation. So you're only half right.
And knowing is half the battle!

I remember watching this full review/spotlight on YouTube a good while ago, before I ever heard of TGWTG or Still Gaming. Just kind of wandered in, watched it, then lost the link and forgot about it.
Back when they were still going to release the game, I remember wanting to get it. My memories may be jumbled, but I could've sworn I played a demo even. Anyway, back when I watched it, this episode made me go and download the game. I still have it floating around, can't remember which version though.
Luckily I (or rather my dad) bought a chip for my PS1 that would let me play the import games I bought that just plugged into the back of the system, and used a spring to make it think it was closed. I guess it's a version of the "disc-swap method."
Um, getting back on track, I'm looking forward to watching the episode again as you bring it over.

I have the uncensored Thrill Kill "Almost Complete" version as well. It's so damn frustrating! -laughs-
Then again, I really blow at fighting games.
I noticed you seemed to re-use the still of you doing a thumbs up. It was kinda offsetting when you were talking. It didn't feel... "appropriate" in certain places.
Oh well. Glad to see someone out there remembers this forgotten title!

Hooray, Dena's here now!!! I can't tell you how many times I've watched Dena's reviews, and I can't wait to see more of them on TGWTG!
As for this review, I now have an interest in tracking this game down in the future and playing it. And I usually don't have an interest in them because I'm too scared to play horror themed games. :s
One day a gamer will be elected into office. Maybe then we can get some of these retarded crusading lawmakers off our backsides.
As much as that would be cool, there still be idiots for liberals to link video games to the violence on the streets with. My thoughts are that there should be maturity permits, that indicate how mature you are no matter your age.
"oh you have a maturity level of 10, that means you can by booze and Adult only games despite being the age of 17."
"Oh you have a maturity level of 2, that means you can't drive a car, raise children, buy alcohol, or by games rated T for Teens despite the fact your 26."
Anybody agree with me?
...
Alas that can only be a fantasy, for I have no idea how testing for something like that could be performed.
