12.12.2008 - 15:03 | BlueGemini - Nostalgic...
Haha, I also watched this when I was kid, one of the shows that made me crave for Anime now.
but that's a long time ago, when I think about it I feel like embarrassed sometimes for watching a girly Anime show. Anyway, this video is good

12.12.2008 - 15:12 | lissy - Bad American anime
My little cousin loves this show and I never have and probably never will. This show just shows how horrible American translated anime is. If you ever watched an anime like DBZ or Bleach with the Japanese subtitles translating what there actually saying and then watched the American translated ones they air on networks like Cartoon Network then you know what I am talking about. American tv cuts out or dumbs down a lot of the dialog I may actually like this show if I ever watched the Japanese version. This type of anime makes me cringe when I watch it. I even like Pokemon ok if its not the Crappy American version. Oh and I like the comment on the end about being an anime addict since i happen to be one and a Manga addict. Good review keep up the good work

12.12.2008 - 22:54 | SpikesGirl1 - Ah, Sailor Moon
I remember this one. The weird thing was I hated this show, but...I couldn't stop watching it. For me, it was the equivalent of Captain Planet-sized proportions.
Anyway, great review, Goggles!

12.12.2008 - 23:23 | CoolIT - Great review
Also caught quite a few episodes and thank god X-Men and Spiderman were also on the list of Saturday morning cartoons to save my balls...
Overall I do recall later episodes to have SICK Story and plots about some bad guys turning good, interesting romance but hell I am OLDER now so I think I was wrong...Anime is fantastic and I LOVE your End Sailor advice.... It is a drug !!!
Great Job !

Clearly better version of your entry video. There is actually live action series made from Sailor Moon but you can't find it in english so if you don't like from japanese language you won't most likely want to try it out.

Thanks for uploading this in better quality.

There are a lot of funny bits in this.
for example, I really like the short clip showing the Live Action SM series on a TV and going "Oh God! Not that abomination!" and then showing the animated series and going "That abomination.". Hilarious.
Also the reference to the tacked on public service messages and how they had little to no connection to what was actually shown in the episode.I could have wished for a clearer reason why the american version sucks compared to the japanese version. Sure, the japanese voices fit better, but I think a clip showing a mistranslation (the subtitles say one thing, the dub another) or outright censoring in the US version.
Props to your little brother for doing you as a kid too! ^_^

Goggles is probably my favorite reviewer on tgwtg. I find her both informative and funny....much like the man-god Doug himself.

I agree with Ternel, she has the same kind of humour and excellent way of editing which just makes her reviews hilarious.

This was a pretty good review. I hope you do more reviews about other things you grew up on other than games. I think "...stuff I grew up on" would give you a lot more depth, even if you prefer doing game reviews.
And that was your BROTHER? That poor kid... Well, maybe he got something good out of it or has a favor hanging over your head.

I'm ashamed to say that this was actually one of the first animes I was exposed to as a kid. I remember taping this show with my VCR since it came on so early. Thankfully I dropped this show like a bad habit when I accidentally taped a show I never heard of, called Dragon Ball Z.

Heh Heh.........."Failure Scout", good one.

I use to run around the school playground with my few friends and we'd reenact Sailor Moon episodes. I was Sailor Jupitor! :B
And I can't beleive I just admited that to the world! ^^;
So yeah, very funny thing! ;D

12.13.2008 - 06:56 | dakostro - Wonder Woman
I wonder how much of an influence Wonder Woman was to Sailor Moon? There are some obvious similarities, like the tiara, the boots and the skimpy outfit, but how much of that was done consciously? On the other hand, how many male superheroes aren't wearing tights and capes?

Sailor Moon... the one show that made me rush home from school to watch, that made me go through dozens upon dozens of vhs tapes to preserve, that made me buy freakin' fansubs of the original show and imported and bootlegs soundtracks, that introduced me to animes in general which would later become a complete obsession of mine. Ya... Loved it. Still do.
One thing to add... Original series > DiC poop censored dub =/

Awesome video!!! And truer words have never been spoken in Sailor Moon being the 'gateway drug' to anime, so to speak - I started watching it when I was like 5 and I still love anime. Yeah, I know. Life (get one).

My younger (female) cousin got me into watching this show, but I only watched it for her sake, so that she'd have something to talk to me about. Well, okay, that and to me, a 12 year old boy, some cartoon chicks were still hot. Still, I preferred Ronin Warriors. All the team, none of the prisiness.

i thought the music wasn't all that bad, actually (though there's no way in hell i'd pay $75 for it even if i hadn't gotten it way back on Napster). it sounds a lot like regular anime music, but unlike the regular stuff the lyrics have some bearing on what's going on.

12.13.2008 - 11:36 | Rhomega
This is the show that got me into anime, even though I had seen Voltron and Speed Racer earlier, mostly because it was airing on Toonami. Watched it up to Sailor Moon Super S, where I just faded out from the fandom.
Yes, I'm male.

I feel so unmanly now, I actually watched this show as a kid. Thankfully I would always wash it out of my memory with hefty doses of the Batman cartoon and Ren & Stimpy. Good video though, Goggles.
