Well, that was an awesome top 5. I gotta say that movie was very disturbing especially the final battle scene, I couldn't stop laughing at what Shin was wearing.

Why make a movie based off of a manga based off of a movie? Well, think about this. Jacob's Ladder, an American movie, inspired Silent Hill, a Japanese game. This game inspired the mediocre American Silent Hill movie. This movie inspired the American Silent Hill: Homecoming game. Hoo boy. Bring back Team Silent, people.
Also, the bad guys of the Hokuto movie fail because not even ONE of them has a mohawk. And of course, the mohawk baddies were inspired by Wes of Mad Max 2.

I remember that I saw the opening sequence to this piece of crap when Ken got the pepperonis on the chest and then didn't continue to watch because I didn't know at the time it was the live-action version of Hokuto no Ken. Oh and that's strange how the French turned the title to Ken le survivant aka Ken the survivor from Fist of the North Star. I always want to watch the series but it's kind of disappointing it didn't end after the manga did.

First: The man who played Ken in the live action movie was Gary Daniels. He will be playing Bryan Fury in the live action Tekken movie. So his career didn't necessarily die...
Second: The guy who played Bat (it's supposed to be Bart, but whatever) was played by Dante Brasco. Who everyone remembers as Rufio in Hook, and as the voice of Prince Zuko in Avatart: the Last Airbender.
Third: I fear that the Blood: the Last Vampire live action movie will be worse than this one. No matter how many blood-covered asian "vampire" girls there are in it.
Finally: If you want a "good" translation from asian comic to movie, check the Story of Rikki, or Rikki-Oh. If you want Nazi kung fu fighters, the manga is FILLED with'em, especially considering it's a Hokuto No Shinken ripoff.
For something you might find cool Benzaie, check out the Storm Riders. It's chinese, and perosnally one of my favorite manhua (chinese manga) translations to film, especially considering the sequel comes out this year in China.

For the record, that guy on the motorbike having the time of his life killing people? That is Clint Howard (YES RON HOWARDS BROTHER) so that about sums up what to expect. Well, OK he has been in some pretty good flicks but a killer is not suited for him lol!

Yup. Live action adaptations of manga suck, most of the time. Especially when they're not done by Japanese directors.
Christophe Lambert is credited on imdb. If he's really in that film, it can't be good anyway.

I saw this movie on HBO many years ago...and I couldn't believe what Hollywood did to it.
For me the two biggest WTF's for the live-action version are Hollywood's switching of who lived and died in the movie...and Hollywood's inability to get anyone who looked like the characters from the manga.
I mean, the manga has the sidekick live and the girlfriend die, thus providing comedic moments but a tragic ending, while the Hollywood version has the sidekick die but the girlfriend live, thus turning it into a cross between a rescue flick and a "buddy's vengeance" flick.
And when Heart is the only character in the movie that looks like a character in the manga, you definitely have problems.
Of course, reversing Shin's motivation was equally insulting. In the manga, he builds an empire to win over Ken's girlfriend, showing Shin's tragic human nature...while Hollywood has him exploiting Ken's girlfriend to create an empire, to show he is TEH EVIL. Sheesh.
Though the action scenes in the manga eventually overwhelmed the storyline, in the first story arc (on which the live-action movie is based), there's actually a lot of drama. Too bad all Hollywood saw was blood, explosions, and fighting. Double sheesh.... :pinch:

Je suis pas trop fan de ken le survivant, c'est pas trop mon type de manga, mais ce que tu as montrer sur le film, :whistle: . Qu'est ce qu'il fout la Terrence Stamp ? et le numero 5, ça me rapelle une scéne de wild wild west ou arthimus se la fait karateka, c'est tout aussi ridicul. C'est kung pow avec la realisation d'un episode d'Hercule ce film.
