Yeah, this movie was pretty weird, but it was still groundbreaking in its day!

My dad like this crappy movie and he thought the animation was good...

Also I saw waldo the other day in a book store, in his book, quite easy to spot.

I watched this movie when I was younger and I had to stop... because it was just too weird and annoying.

I don't really agree, i thing most of the moments you show were closest to the book than in the peter jackson movie (but it's still my favorite movie of all time !). The beginning of the animation was great, but when they... draw guys... filmed guys... wth? It's horrible ! You should show the balrog longer, it's ridiculous ! You forgot to say that saruman the white is not white?! Why make him red??

Intro: The use of colored live-action footage was very experimental and original, not cheap.

#5 - Tolkien's book was very dialogue oriented. He didn't have things turn into "Crouching Tiger, Flying Wizards" at the drop of the hat. This scene is closer to the book than Jackson's film.
#4 - I have no idea what you're talking about.
#3 - Did you know that this scene wasn't actually in the book and that it was added by the filmmakers? And then Jackson refilmed it in his version?
#2 is an example of how much better the animated film is in comparison to Jackson's films. In Jackson's version of the scene, having Bilbo briefly turn into a monster is far more laughable than what is portrayed here. Here, Bilbo looks like a drug addict in desperate need of a fix. It is an example of very good animation acting. Having him randomly turn into what that looks like something you'd find in a Japanese horror movie is severely laughable and not in the spirit of the book.
And I think you're really stretching it with #1.

Classically horrible. This Top 5 was genius.

The LOTR Animated was a half-assed production under the guise of artistic license, pure and simple.

The fuck, man! The last one was poor. Why didn't you show the clip where the Nazguls knock out Frodo/Sam with blue sleeping gas they send out from their armpits by flapping their arms like chickens? THAT should have been the top one!

I died a little on the inside when I saw that in the movie...

But other than the top one, you did a great job picking out the funny parts of it

Usually, I enjoy the videos on this site. They're educational, funny and interesting. But this, along with that He-Man cartoon statement – although the attached review was funny as hell – is bullshit. I grew up with this film and I don't give a shit about it not following the books or that some of the characters "look silly". You're missing the point. The ball is off the field. This movie is good because it has a unique and cosy mood to it that very few other animated movies have.

I actually own this movie on VHS-tape. It is so god damn boring.
The worst thing is almost that the movie does not end. The was supposed to be a sequel but i guess they never made it, probably because the first sucked too much.

I bet this guy even didn't read a book...
This was just a try to make fun of some scenes like NC does but with big failure...
I saw this movie many times and it's classic...
Simply great movie if you ask me...
Not their fault that you guys are stuck with typical blockbusters that that everyone admires today just of ''cool'' efects and stuff like that...

Interesting thing about the sequel. There were some A and B reels filmed, but the studio said no. And this is in spite of the fact that the movie actually turned a profit - the budget was $4 million; it grossed over $30 million.

Wtf are you guys complaining about? This was not a movie review. This was the top 5 wtf moments of the movie. And as much as I like watching "fanboys" whining when their favorite movie is getting nitpicked, you guys need to grow up. You gotta admit that most of those scenes were pretty what-the-fucked-up.

And all this whining about Benzaies voice/accent. I'm not a native english speaker but I can understand him just fine. And Benzaies still one of the funniest videomakers on this site.

which I think is funny because I don't know HOW IN HELL you can understand Scharzenegger, Stallone or even ThatAussieGuy's accent ? The video is fast paced, and my accent kinda there...but I think if some of you were a little bit more focused you would understand it perfectly...

I teach French in a school and every single BLOODY KIDS can understand me (in UK) so I'm sorry but I can't help thinking some people are just like " Damn French accent, fuck that I'm not going to try to understand since he doesn't sound like me !"...

even some people who bashed me at first now have no complains and loved the video...look at the interview with DOUG, does he have any problem understanding what am I saying ??? FuCK NO and that's not thanks to his super power, it's just a question of listening and respect IMO...

Then maybe I should have put a disclaimer saying " THIS VIDEO IS MADE FOR ENTERTAINMENT ONLY ", I know the animateed movie is actually closer to the book than the blockbuster like Trilogy, I know they tried new stuff, I never said the trilogy was good OR bad etc etc etc...

The movie is still incredibly boring, some art direction suck my balls like gimlee who's 7 feet tall and looks like a random lumberjack, Aragorn as a native american, Elrond who looks like a CAESAR parody and the overall animation has a weird feel to it thanks to the rotoscopy making most scene creepy

Movies like the King and The Mocking Bird, made around the same years, with a lower budget had a way better animation and production value...and eventhough you can consider that coloring live action footages is GROUNDBREACKING, it still is a cheap way to save money on drawing frames etc...just likee rotoscopy by the way...

I will be honest. I don't usually care for Benzaie's videos, but I thought this was great. Very funny and an interesting twist on the usual top 5 lists you use on the Internet. And the Aussie parody at the end was hilarious. After Suede and Aussie, I wonder if Nostalgia Chick is next in line.

The entire series of LotR animateds should be 'WTF.' These were so bad I was actually expecting the live action versions to suck. Thank you Peter Jackson for proving me wrong. Screw you Ralph Bakshi, for losing your touch after the excellent Wizards. Wait. That was his only good movie.
