08.12.2009 - 10:59 | adrasl300Yeah its symphonic power metal!
Nightwish is symphonic Power metal too.
But they dont have a real orchestra or Christopher Lee....in a burger king crown.
Did you guys know that he actually likes the band!.....I mean he has too he is working with them after all but you know...maybe a bit unexpected.
He even sang in one of their songs!
Not because he was told too but because he wanted too.

Emerald Sword started playing the exact second I saw the link. I'm not even joking.
Hopefully, the power of TGWTG will bring Rhapsody to the attention of us silly Americans, and we can throw off the shackles of mainstream annoyances such as the pretentious Green Day, the insufferable Linkin Park, the infernal Three Days Grace, and BrokeNCYDE, whose sonic swill has ruined many innocent minds, and is so supremely horrifying that a single note of their art-killing "music" causes one's bones to explode.
Here's a list of names, some obscure, some relatively well known:
Angra, Avantasia, The Black Mages, Blind Guardian, Dark Moor, Dawnrider, Dragonland, Dream Evil, Dream Theater, Edguy, Elvenking, Ensiferum, Excalion, Gamma Ray, Hammerfall, Hibria, Iron Fire, Iron Savior, Kamelot, Masterplan, Majesty, Persuader, Power Quest, Pyramaze, Running Wild, Sabaton, Shadow Gallery, Sonata Arctica, Stormwarrior, Stratovarius, Thunderstone, Warmen, Wintersun, Wolf, Xandria.
Yes, that's alphabetical order. Yes, I left out bands that almost everyone already knows about (Nightwish, anyone?). I found out about all those bands (all of which I highly recommend) on the wonderful site Pandora (Which I would call a "Godsend" if I believed in a fictional deity). And no, I don't care if your musical taste is different from mine.

Benzaie, I wish you the best of luck with this show. It's about time people opened their eyes/ears to this sort of thing.

08.07.2009 - 17:39 | DntSayAWrdI like how you have Iron Savior and Gamma Ray in that list, but not Helloween

I consider Power Quest to be more Power Metal lite, as they don't quite have the heavyness, the speed or the vocals of alot of other Power Metal bands. But for what they do give is enjoyable. Not saying they're bad, just that they are quite a contrast to alot of others.
THANK YOU for including Pyramaze! That band is seriously under-rated. "Legend of the Bone Carver" is an amazing concept album. Very pagen esque story.

Rhapsody (of Fire) is my all-time, number one favourite band of all time! "Unholy Warcry", "Dawn of Victory", "Holy Thunderforce", "Knightrider of Doom", "Agony is my Name"... all favourites of mine. They also did an excellent cover of Manowar's "Power of Thy Sword".
For those who don't know, Rhapsody had to update their name to Rhapsody of Fire due to legal issues, but most people just stick to calling them Rhapsody.

I have to admit that "Power of the Dragonflame" Pushes the line between "Cheesey" and "Waste of a video file on my computer" However, all is redeemed by "Unholy Warcry". Just incase you haven't seen it, Here's "Dragonflame":

Glad to see TGWTG opening people’s minds to Rhapsody and hopefully other Power Metal bands like Blind Guardian, Sonata Arctica, and Iced Earth. I have been telling people about Power Metal for years but never really got through to them maybe this will help open there eyes to this great yet unrecognized genre of music.
Great vid.

08.06.2009 - 21:50 | KLMachinateI'm going to have to check these guys out. Also, I'd like to see one of these videos about Amon Amarth. Too bad that the Twilight of the Thunder God video doesn't have anything to do with the song, because it would be awseome to watch a music video about Thor fighting a giant sea monster.

You should try to show more than one song from each band, it would really help get into them.
And you should have put some of the most acid trip kind of songs they have. Like Rain of a thousand flames. It's one of their best songs, but...
"Silent cries of virgins touch the heart of night
raped by the demons under painful sights
Sperm and blood and terror chaos in my head
Is the law of evil triumph for the damned"
Oh yes.
Or Holy thunderforce. The video is hillariously cheesy, not to say the shouting of "HOOOLYYYYY".
Anyway, awesome band. I used to listen to it all day when I only knew a few bands, and I started to get into the whole universe thing. It makes some sense after a while, they repeat names and stuff. But it's no literature.
Recommended song: Wizard's Last Rhymes. It's my song to go when I sit in front of the computer after reading Dragonlance, together with Nightwish's Wishmaster.
