Yeah its symphonic power metal!
Nightwish is symphonic Power metal too.But they dont have a real orchestra or Christopher Lee....in a burger king crown.
Did you guys know that he actually likes the band!.....I mean he has too he is working with them after all but you know...maybe a bit unexpected.
He even sang in one of their songs!
Not because he was told too but because he wanted too.

You know, it was funny enough when you were head-banging to the narration, but when I found out that was ACTUALLY Christopher Lee, I think I almost peed myself.

Maybe the Tellatubbies live in their parallel dimension of metal which is nothing at all like and way more awesome than dungeons and dragons..

Emerald Sword started playing the exact second I saw the link. I'm not even joking.
Hopefully, the power of TGWTG will bring Rhapsody to the attention of us silly Americans, and we can throw off the shackles of mainstream annoyances such as the pretentious Green Day, the insufferable Linkin Park, the infernal Three Days Grace, and BrokeNCYDE, whose sonic swill has ruined many innocent minds, and is so supremely horrifying that a single note of their art-killing "music" causes one's bones to explode.
Here's a list of names, some obscure, some relatively well known:
Angra, Avantasia, The Black Mages, Blind Guardian, Dark Moor, Dawnrider, Dragonland, Dream Evil, Dream Theater, Edguy, Elvenking, Ensiferum, Excalion, Gamma Ray, Hammerfall, Hibria, Iron Fire, Iron Savior, Kamelot, Masterplan, Majesty, Persuader, Power Quest, Pyramaze, Running Wild, Sabaton, Shadow Gallery, Sonata Arctica, Stormwarrior, Stratovarius, Thunderstone, Warmen, Wintersun, Wolf, Xandria.
Yes, that's alphabetical order. Yes, I left out bands that almost everyone already knows about (Nightwish, anyone?). I found out about all those bands (all of which I highly recommend) on the wonderful site Pandora (Which I would call a "Godsend" if I believed in a fictional deity). And no, I don't care if your musical taste is different from mine.

Benzaie, I wish you the best of luck with this show. It's about time people opened their eyes/ears to this sort of thing.

I like how you have Iron Savior and Gamma Ray in that list, but not Helloween
-
08.07.2009 - 20:14 | Lieutenant Fish
I grouped Helloween in the "Bands everybody already knows about" category. If I misunderestimated their popularity, I apologize.

08.06.2009 - 19:28 | Kimarous - Dude...
Rhapsody (of Fire) is my all-time, number one favourite band of all time! "Unholy Warcry", "Dawn of Victory", "Holy Thunderforce", "Knightrider of Doom", "Agony is my Name"... all favourites of mine. They also did an excellent cover of Manowar's "Power of Thy Sword".
For those who don't know, Rhapsody had to update their name to Rhapsody of Fire due to legal issues, but most people just stick to calling them Rhapsody.

coming from a canadian like myself...i can say...
Rhapsody (of Fire, Ice, Lightning...whatever)
is one of my all time favorite metal bands (Symphonic Power Metal to be exact)thank you Benzaie...for showing everyone on TGWTG such an awesome band...let the word spread!!!
also i love the cheesy-ness of their music videos Xp

08.06.2009 - 20:07 | Lieutenant Fish
I have to admit that "Power of the Dragonflame" Pushes the line between "Cheesey" and "Waste of a video file on my computer" However, all is redeemed by "Unholy Warcry". Just incase you haven't seen it, Here's "Dragonflame":

Oh it would have been epic had Benzaie has done the song Sacred power of raging winds...It has a flute solo..How much more Heavy Metal can you get????
-
08.06.2009 - 21:00 | AlucardsQuest
Nightwish? There have been bands playing this style of music for over 30 years. Sounds like Nightwish my booty. Nightwish sounds like Helloween, Maiden & Priest.
Anyway, thank you Benz for keeping this series going! But are you going to do bands that are a bit heavier or thrashier?
-
08.06.2009 - 21:05 | HardcoreTheory
Rhapsody of Fire = EPIC
Glad to see TGWTG opening people’s minds to Rhapsody and hopefully other Power Metal bands like Blind Guardian, Sonata Arctica, and Iced Earth. I have been telling people about Power Metal for years but never really got through to them maybe this will help open there eyes to this great yet unrecognized genre of music.
Great vid.

Seriously? Nightwish? Don't ever compare these gods of epic metal to Nightwish. Nightwish is good, but not on the level of Rhapsody.

I'm going to have to check these guys out. Also, I'd like to see one of these videos about Amon Amarth. Too bad that the Twilight of the Thunder God video doesn't have anything to do with the song, because it would be awseome to watch a music video about Thor fighting a giant sea monster.
-
08.06.2009 - 21:56 | DeathsHead419 - AWSOME!

How about Disturbed?
I'm not sure if it falls in the category, that you are looking for, but still

You should try to show more than one song from each band, it would really help get into them.
And you should have put some of the most acid trip kind of songs they have. Like Rain of a thousand flames. It's one of their best songs, but...
"Silent cries of virgins touch the heart of night
raped by the demons under painful sights
Sperm and blood and terror chaos in my head
Is the law of evil triumph for the damned"
Oh yes.Or Holy thunderforce. The video is hillariously cheesy, not to say the shouting of "HOOOLYYYYY".
Anyway, awesome band. I used to listen to it all day when I only knew a few bands, and I started to get into the whole universe thing. It makes some sense after a while, they repeat names and stuff. But it's no literature.
Recommended song: Wizard's Last Rhymes. It's my song to go when I sit in front of the computer after reading Dragonlance, together with Nightwish's Wishmaster.

Behemoth are an amazing band.
But yeah. Their videos are questionable.
