I'm always amazed at what these developers and composers were able to do with the limited technology at the time. Getting even a minor level of density/lushness in the sound was amazing enough, and this game just was able to take it that much further.
This soundtrack is one that screams for a live re-recording, if it hasn't been done already!
Holy shit, the Genesis was making these sounds? And the Genesis always had the worst sound of any 16-bit console out of all of them. I can only imagine how hardcore the arcade version must have been.
The sounds you're hearing are from the arcade version (which I think is the only version) of the game. The SNES /might/ have been able to do this soundtrack, given that it was using a sample based music system (though RAM/Memory restrictions might've made a soundtrack like this impossible).
The Genesis, however, was using predominantly FM-Synthesis (along with pulse/square wave based PSG) based music for its games, and wouldn't have had enough sample based audio tracks to even hope of having music like this for a game.
Game Audio Geek knowledge for the win. :P

I'm a little surprised you didn't talk more about the composer for the game (Mutsuhiko Izumi) and some of his other works, as you tend to do that for your Soundtrack videos. Also, as an interesting factoid, two songs from Metamorphic Force were remixed for Konami's GuitarFreaks and DrumMania series (of which Izumi is the driving force) as Model DD6 and Model DD7.
It's still a great video, though.
@the above comments: I'm fairly certain this is an arcade only game, and he just mentioned the Genesis as a means of dating the game.

07.10.2009 - 05:16 | Richard WeskerSo the premise of the game is that a bunch of furries actually turn into real anthropomorphs and go around kicking some ass? Sign me up!
Oh yeah, the music rocks, too!

This game reminds me of Altered Beast, a game which was released on the Genesis.
In Altered Beast you only had two characters, the second one obviously being a palette swap for player two. But on the bright site, you could transform into different kinds of beastforms like a demon or a wolfman.
It was at some times kinda gory, but not much.
Also it has not such an asskicking Ost as Metamorphic Force. (hence to the restrictions of the Genesis, of course.
Anyway, nice Job Ben. But i wonder...was this game released on XBLA? Would be a hard time to get footage of such an old Arcade game.
Ps: My bad if you mentioned that already. ^^"
