awesome soundtrack. It reminds me a little of Zelda. The game looks cool, too bad it wasn't release on the US
Loe it!

That game is simply awesome, great epic soundtrack, and awesome graphic. It is really a shame it wasnt release in US, guess they wanted to keep that great game to themself
. Thanks for sharing it with us Benzaie!

This truly was a kick ass game. Sad that it never got an official release outside of the Jap region, but still got some good fan translations on the net. My only complaint was that the final boss was just kind of weird, and while the characters were interesting and complex, some just kind of drop out after a while. They're still on your team, but rarely appear during cutscenes. A precursor to Vaan and Panello's roles in FFXII, which they star in the first half, and are there in the second, but don't contribute a darn thing to the plot.

Wow, A game I might don't know that I do know!
I actually discovered this game through its music. I was making a crappy game in RPG maker and wanted a good track for its main menu. I just grabbed the first catchy one I could find on the internet and after a while I realized I really wanted to find out what kind of game it came from.I haven't played it in a while now, but I seem to recall the feeding system to be a bit overwhelming since you didn't really know what would happen to the dargons, and they could pretty much end up evolving from your best attacker to a weak healer all of a sudden.
Other than that it's a cool game.

04.16.2009 - 22:25 | Deimos1984rd - I love the soundtrack...It's very soothing.
This game is so beautiful and the dragons are so well made, they should bring this to the DS or better yet the virtual console on the Wii...heck, square brought Front Mission 1 to America on the DS and the virtual console gave us the Japanese n64 game Sin and punishment, it could happen.

One of the best strategie-rpg's I've ever played. Not just from the gameplay but also for it's characters.
And @Star_Sage Yeah, that maybe. But it treatened them way better than most other jrpgs. If I remember correctly every character got his scene in the game. That's something you don't see everyday. (ESPECIALLY in tactic-jrpgs.)

I've heard about this game before but I never got to try it myself..
Oh.. Is it the same guy who's behind the music of Front Mission? That game had some freaking nice tunes and the overall gameplay was sweet..
I'm definitely gonna try this one when I get the time, thanks for the tips Ben!
LOE Y'ALL!

This really was a game with a great soundtrack. My favorite track was apparently called ''Orelus Salvation Army''. It played during the later battles and optional battles. It had sort of a silly tone but still retained epicness in it. I wasn't the best written track in the game, but it certainly stood out from the rest.
Probably just pointing out the obvious here, but if you're into the whole tactical RPG music, you really have to check out Fire Emblem 4's soundtrack. I think it really surpasses Bahamut Lagoon's tracks when it comes to the same style. As a side note, that game also looked gorgeous at times.
Writing this makes me really wonder why japanese compagnies never took the chance to market such well-produced game to the rest of the world..

That was great. Thanks Ben. From some parts it almost looked like japanese style Disciples 2.

04.17.2009 - 06:16 | BlueGoldBizarros - Thank you, Benzaie
If this game came out in the US, I would have begged till my death to have gotten this game. Dragon Masters, Flying Island, Awesome music... HELL YEAH!
But then again I didn't have an SNES...

04.17.2009 - 07:57 | osalot314 - Thank you for no insults
This game not only has an awesome soundtrack but is also a great game to play. The storyline is gripping (with a twist
), the graphics are beautiful for it's time, gameplay mechanics were well thought out, and music.... *drool* so good. The only down side I have about this game is that the each mission can take at most an hour to an hour and a half to complete. Then and, I'm not a tactics gamer, so it could be just me.
But if you have the chance PLAY THIS GAME!
P.S. THANK YOU BENZAI FOR NO INSULTS it makes your reviews so much more sophisticated and pleasant.

04.17.2009 - 11:29 | fingrid - You brought this game out of nowhere
BL was an excellent pick, although I highly doubt Benzaie's masculinity after that third and last piece.
Seriously man, you must redeem yourself by reviewing soundtracks that are easier to mosh to like the SNES port of Der Langrisser or your Atari picks.

This game looks quite epic. The style reminds me of Golden Sun a bit.
I agree, great music.

04.17.2009 - 14:03 | genocyde83 - BUT WAIT
Something is missing Benzaie. I like it when you talk naughty and insult us. Now I feel all empty inside and have this weird feelings. Only your insults keep them at bay but now I feel all cuddly and want to read a book with my pet cat in the quiet with some chai tea wearing a bathrobe with a mud mask and a pedicure. PLEASE don't do that again. We need your insults...seriously great choice. Any chance you might do dreamcast game soundtrack?

First SRPG I ever played. The music certainly helped me finish it all the way through.
Yoyo can go to hell, though.

Seriously. Chrono Trigger kicks ass. Please review it :OQFT, But who doesn't know about CT? If you don't know anything about that game and it's AWESOME music you have been living under a rock or something for the past 14 years.. Nah, that's a but harsh to say. But seriously CT have already gotten it's well deserving attention!
And imo it's time to let some lesser known games shine for a change ;D!
Gogo Ben!

04.18.2009 - 20:02 | Bombader - Maybe it would have been good back in the day...
I played most of this game via rom, ya it had some great animation of it's time I suppose, and even great humor (Those who played Mario and the Seven Stars, the ??? came from here apparently) however I don't think it stands the test of time.
The Pets thing was what made it unique, though the rest was kind of bleh, like winning fights IN BATTLE was more a drag, even if you do get better rewards out of it. Most of the time it was more effective to spell cast at range rather than send in units via melee. It doesn't help that multiple unit time in one group also multiplies their power, a group of white mages are better with their own squad rather than mixed with black mages and fighters.
You could say this was like their foundation for FFT games, it had some good inspiration, unique pet system, but was lacking balance.

That's true to a certain extent, but I found that mixing it up a bit helped quite a bit. Since casting a spell on the map gives the entire party experience, it's good to have a party of 3 spellcasters and an imp to keep them at a high level. Putting a Light Armor amongst a party of Heavy Armors made it much easier to get them up close to the enemy where they can do damage, and so on.
