Oh Joe, I fear you'll be in for a world of pain when you see this. But who knows; maybe it'll be a case of "So Bad It's Good." Regardless, try to keep your sanity intact.

And Seagal may be a badass, but he can never hope to compare to...

hahaha, I so have to see that. I only hope to see someone try to resist being arrested by Seagal.. just so we can see how he'd deal with it.

This could well be the best comedy show in a long time if it works.

Wow, Seagal being deputized reminds me that Chuck Norris is an Honorary Marine.

    The more you know.

oh it's real... a really bad idea. The show is a great idea. Steven as a cop is what's the bad idea.
  • jnywest  - Steven Segal is: ROBOCOP

Well, first, great video I was laughing my ass off.

It sounds as if he was deputized some years back and his basic funtion was to come down there and train officers in self defense techniques. He probably has had genuine weapons certification, and went through basic training and county and state certification. He "past" all their test. But, he has probably only recently become "active duty", or we would have heard about it by now. In some ways, this could be interesting, as this may be his first "real" experinces with true violent criminals, not actors or fellow martial artist.

Secondly, this is just going to be so funny to watch. I think that this show is going to encourage crime and violence towards the police. You could see a frat house getting drunk and driving down there just to see if they could get busted by Segal, and see if they could get him to kick thier asses or some shit like that..lol!!

I think the joke will be on him, Joe, like you said. Aparently, he and his agent have never really paid attention to what most of Americans think of Steven Segal (ie, MAD TV and other commidies). The series will probably not make it a whole season; especially if his presense starts to put "real" cops at risk.

hell yeah!!! i gonna see it!! don't buy donuts in a low-rider pimpa movil fool... you get your ass kicked.

this it's gonna be better than he's movies.

I can only take this half serious. At least until I see the first episode or something. It's just to weird to even think of.

    Steven Seagal >> Chuck Norris

When your deputized you can choose to work on the streets while accompanied by another police deputy and yes you can carry a gun. Funny thing is Shaq too has been deputized, now that would be crazy to be run down by the Shaq Fu.

    WHAT.

Steven Seagal has been a deputy sheriff in my home state for THIS LONG and I didn't even know?

    What the hell.

Wikipedia says it's true, but that's still hard to believe.

Aw HELLS YEAH! I'm gonna be watchin' it right alongside you, mah man. Well... only in Colorado.

But yeah, I think this show is gonna be awesome whether or not you like Steven Segal movies. I don't care that he's a jerk. So am I. (laughs)

Will be fun to see at least the first episode.

Ha! This is crazy! I'm going to at least catch the first episode.

No way he's been actually doing this for 20 years. Maybe he comes in and helps train once a year or something like that. Then recently they gave him a gun and a TV show. This should be funny.

I dont see whats the big deal and whats so weird about this. I think he could be a good cop. I just dont understand why its so crazy for him to be a cop... hes not stupid hes not going to act like an asshole.Just because people make fun of him , it means hes not capable of being a competant cop?

Neither on Wikipedia or IMDB can I find anything about him beeing a cop until now!

The rest I find are just forums with speculations about him beeing a cop, but no black-on-white-facts anywhere.

Personally I easily accept and can believe that he could be a cop NOW, but for the past 20 years? When reading this, quoted from wikipedia, I find the possibility of him beeing a cop, very hard:

"Steven F. Seagal (pronounced /s?????l/; born April 10, 1952) is an American action movie actor, producer, writer, director, martial artist, philanthropist, guitarist, and singer-songwriter.
A 6' 4" (193 cm) 7th-dan black belt in aikido, Seagal began his adult life as an aikido instructor in Japan. He became the first foreigner to operate an aikido dojo in Japan."

SPECIALLY THIS LAST QUOTE IS INTERESTING:

"Seagal is also a recording artist and guitarist and the founder of Steven Seagal Enterprises. In addition to his professional achievements, he is also known as an environmentalist, an animal rights activist and a supporter of Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama, and the cause of Tibetan independence. Spiritualism and Buddhism play an important role in Seagal's life and he has been recognized by Tibetan lama Penor Rinpoche as a reincarnated Tulku of 17th century eastern Tibet, Chungdrag Dorje. According to Seagal in a November 2006 interview: 'I don't give in to peer pressure, only justice'."

Him having a REAL gun is scary, when looking back on his later movies. The way he handels guns is just insanily dangerous! He can't handle shit! (This doesn't mean he's a sucker, just that he has not gotten any weapons training)

Is there anyone agreeing with me?

I watched a lot of Seagal movies growing up. Some were bad-ass and some were not, but I enjoyed them. After a while it became kinda old and I've seen him as a one-act actor since.

For me this seems more Hollywood ego-stroking than it seem genuine. Whether it's on his own account or some producers doesn't really matter.

IF they use the 'Cops' format, where you have a camera on him while they are driving around on patrol, talking about how much he enjoys doing what he does and blah blah blah, that's when I'll stop watching.
  • GenericInk
I'm surprised you didn't see the promo where he calls himself god.

"Steven Seagal just slapped a cop." That line will stay with me for a while.

Yeah, a guy who should be fired to the goddamn moon for all the crap he has made. I mean, this guy has sank lower than Van Damm when he appeared in an episode of Friends, the only thing this fat ass can handel is a box of donuts and buckets of fried chicken. I bet the criminals are gonna mistake him for a party clown and fall down laughing.
