I recently learned the existance of this film about a week ago on IMDB. (In speaking of which, there's a Brad Jones who edited episode of Jersey Shore.)
3:29- That's a shame, indeed.
6:07- Yikes. I'd hate to see THAT board game be adapted to a live action movie.
8:49- Maybe it's the fact that her kids are not actually hers, as explained in the beginning.
"JESUS!! ...Is she okay?" LOL
This movie is too dark and gorry for my taste, but I'll admit that the actress who plays the mother is really f**kin' crazy. Good thing MY mother isn't like that.
20:10- NOOOOOOO, REALLY!?!?

05.24.2012 - 20:26 | OmnicromI saw this over on Filmbrain's Projector and I was hoping this remake would get the treatment it deserves in a full review. Thank you Snob for being the one to shred this.

lol, yeah. She was great in "The Hand That Rocks The Cradle" You really did get the feeling of that hating that woman's character. Which is a good indictation they are really into the role of that Character and blend into the performance so well. :)
In fact, now I want Nostalgia Chick to review that movie after Will Smith month is over. I would like to see her take on those kind of films that try to turn "A woman wanting a family" into something violent and psychopathic.
Also I love the title card as always Snob. Great work.
lol, oh Snob, tickets to Battleship, how could you, she gave birth to you. XD

05.24.2012 - 22:24 | thecommunistottermy friends and i just watched this movie last night, which made this video a nice surprise. We had generally the same opinions except none of us recognized the actress who played the mother, heh. We really didn't like the ending though, and all wished the doctor had lived. It was a good way to waste time while still hanging out but otherwise not very good.

Dude, all remakes/reboots SUCK!!!!! With the only exception being John Carpenter's "The Thing! And maybe the remake of True Grit. And the Nolan Batman movies.....and the Hammer films......and the remake of Last house on the Left was actually not bad.....Oh, David Cronenberg's "The Fly" that movie was awsome, OK, THERE ARE SOME GOOD REMAKES/REBOOTS! But I think we can at least agree that there are way to many coming out now, and most of them are unnecessary at best, and horrible and ridiculas at worst.

Heh, I honestly have a bit of a hard time gauging your genuine feelings on this film (that I have not seen myself). Almost all the humor and critiscisms were down to the character of the Cinema Snob we all know and love, but it seems you didn't have that bad a time with this movie, despite the review being as fantastic as always.
I'd be interested in seeing a few more recent films, or other remakes of films you've reviewed before (as other people above me in the comments section have pointed out). Anyway, one of the most amusing of your CS reviews for a while, thank you.
"Oh Cinema Snob, oh cinema snob,
'twas not the son who chose to rob
The money of the house entrusted
To the Mother, ever mistrusted
But those that had themselves to blame
And for such greed were given pain."

05.25.2012 - 06:47 | Dr. RobotnikAlmost every horror movie ever made has a downer ending. It's an expected part of the genre, although I can certainly understand your frustration.
Also, a Reservoir Dogs reference. I love you Cinema Snob.

But this is a home invasion movie too, which always ends with the villains losing.
Well, except for "Funny Games", but that movie sucks. And before anyone bitches, YES, I know it's 'got a message', but a message doesn't automatically make it good.
I could make a movie that's ninety minutes of dogs fucking and claim it has a 'message', but that doesn't make it NOT ninety minutes of dogs fucking.
And really, if I wanted someone to be a condescending ass to me through the TV, I'd watch Bill Maher.

For my first CinemaSnob review, I have to say Brad, I was cynical to many producers and you were n't my cup of tea, at first, but dear god, was I wrong! You had me laughin' the whole way through.
This movie...this...FUCKING movie! I hate to rage, but yes, just like all OTHER modern home invasion movies, its painfully generic, the shaky cam is all over the place, and what the hell -- the writing is so bad it makes me want to break the fourth wall, and slaughter all of the characters with a 20 billion light year katana.
I will say it was better acted though, it seems many modern exploitation films are...but then again, the actors don't dumb themselves down and I'm glad being an adult, I have the choice to NOT see certain movies. A big part of horror has become these stupidly written, gore-tastic, no actual horror movies, just exploitation. This isn't the case with all movies, but goddamn, thanks for ripping this movie apart with your magnificence. I salute thee! *salutes*
Brad, keep it up. Mother's Day, just...stop.
Getting her tickets to battleship? At least it'll keep her occupied. Or whatever.
